The Monster
Monster
- Intent: To create a missile launcher that's able to be mounted onto any capital vessel or heavy vehicle.

- Primary Source: None
- Manufacturer: Freebirds Industries, Confederacy of Independent Systems
- Affiliation: Confederacy of Independent Systems
- Model: MLMS
- Modularity: Ammunition is totally interchangeable meaning you can load into this launcher all sorts of dumb or smart missiles. However it is currently only accepting Space Interception Missiles.
- Production: Minor
- Material: Alusteel frame, electronics and processors to feed in targeting data and program missiles, durasteel shielding for doors and locking mechanisms to hold missiles once loaded.
- Static launcher that can be mounted onto a turret or attached directly to the hull of a vessel.
- Able to be configured as a one time use launcher or as a launch tube that is able to be reloaded.
- Able to program into rounds targeting data from multiple types of fire control systems even allowing for the use of remote control smart munitions if the craft has the requisite technology to guide said munitions. Also able to program predetermined flight paths before targeting data and missile's targeting systems engage enemy targets.
- Extremely Versatile: This missile launcher is only limited by the inventory of your missiles. You can literally use any type of missile that you can think of since it's able to shoot everything from small anti-fighter based missiles in swarms to larger anti-capital ship cruise missiles. If you have a missile, and you can fit it into here, this thing will shoot it and utilize said missile to the best of that missile's ability.
- It's a box: This thing does only one thing. And that's launch missiles. It has no armor on its base model. It doesn't have a remote control fire system to control the missiles after launch. The only other thing this launcher can do is program smarter missiles to do smart missile things. It can't make dumb missiles smart. It can't protect itself or really do anything aside from this one specific function. Which means it's totally dependent on the missiles it's shooting to how well this thing does.
The next generation in missile launchers designed for either static emplacement or capital ships, the MLMS or Multiple Launch Missile System, is simply a launcher that you can cram as many or as little missiles into it as you desire. While you'll have to scale it up or down of course, this is done with relative ease as this launcher is quite simple. It's only the firing unit for the missiles, meaning that its construction is super easy and simple, allowing it to focus on what it needs to do, program the missiles it's launching and then launch them. And because its all self contained, this means that you can put this down as a literal box on the ground, in a ship, or strap it onto a turret with a targeting and radar system and suddenly you've got a missile defense platform. This technology is simply the basis for many missile platforms to come, or even as a part of any capital ship's versatile weapons payload.
