Ease to break down

High Stopping Power - The size of the rounds fired by these weapons can easily knock down those shrouded in the heaviest of armor, or even leave a sizeable dent in a vehicle's armor.

Canoness Armor Firelink - An internal fire-link system within the weapon links to the HUD of the Canoness Battle Armor. This system incorporates a small camera and laser range finder and provides the operator with ammunition count, heat buildup, and material stress of the weapon. The camera can be utilized to fire around corners without exposing the individual to return fire. The system also aids in calculating trajectories of fire for increased accuracy over longer distances.

Reliability - The M58/Kr is known for its reliability and is capable of continued operation even after being exposed to dirt, mud, and other substances that would normally gunk up other weapons. With simple moving parts, and an ability to be easily broken down, the weapon can easily be cleaned.

Low Capacity - As a means to compensate for the size of munitions and the heat buildup, the clips of these weapons only hold (20) rounds.

Cumbersome - Meant to be coupled with the Canoness Battle Armor, the M58/Kr is unwieldy at the best of times. These weapons are difficult to pick up and fire without the assistance offered by the power-assisted servos of the Canoness armor, or by all but the largest of species (i.e. Wookies, Herglics, etc).

Slow Fire - The M58/Kr lacks any kind of semi-automatic or automatic firing mode; rather it fires one shot at a time requiring that the operator is more mindful of picking a target and carefully placing their fire.

Heat Buildup - The size of the munitions coupled with the high impact of the rounds causes a rapid buildup of heat each time the weapon is fired.

The M58 Kinetic Rifle, at times also called the 'Bolter', chambers a 75-caliber slug which accounts for the weapon's size and for it being so cumbersome. An internal fire-link system connects the weapon with the HUD in the Canoness Battle Armor, providing the operator with up to date munitions count, heat buildup and material stress. This system can also be used to fire around corners or behind cover within exposing the individual to return fire. The system can also be utilized to peer around objects and obstructions as a means to visually clear an area or scout for potential hazards that may lie ahead.

The weapon's cumbersome size makes it all but impractical for others to wield, save for those in a power-assisted armor or species of the largest size. Ideally, these weapons would be wielded by those wearing the Canoness Battle Armor as the weapon was designed to work in concert with that specific armor. Additional drawbacks to the M58/Kr is the low capacity clips - requiring that the weapon be reloaded more often; and its propensity for building up heat rapidly due to the size of munitions that it fires. Likewise, as it lacks any kind of mechanism to sustain continuous fire, the M58/Kr is only capable of a single fire mode.

However, the weapon makes up for some of these shortcomings with how reliable it is on and off the field of battle. Capable of being dropped in the mud and grime of war, it can easily be retrieved and fire its next round without fear of a misfire or the weapon jamming. Its ease of breaking down also adds to this reliability, permitting the internal workings to be more easily accessible for cleaning. Additionally, its high stopping power is often more than enough to stop or at least pause an enemy charge on a position.
