SPECIAL FEATURES
- Very rugged.
- Deadly incendiary shots.
- Hellfire: This weapon fires blaster bolts laced with a small amount of X17, leading to increased terminal effect and armor-piercing ability.
- Durable: As its primary users are mindless corpses, the M66 is deliberately designed to be a rugged as possible.
- Slow-Firing: While it does feature automatic fire, the rate is somewhat slow (likely to stop users from expending the entire magazine).
- Kicks like a Bantha: The weapon's explosive firing process and powerful ammunition lead to aggressive muzzle climb.
Designed as the standard weapon for Carthus Marr's undead army, the M66 Epitaph is designed to capitalize on the strengths of its intended users.
A rugged, blocky weapon, the M66 is profoundly tolerant of abuse, and will function under nearly any conditions. As its undead users are likely to neglect proper weapon maintenance, this is of substantial benefit.
The M66's only other noteworthy trait is the ammunition. The tibanna gas magazines the weapon accepts are tinted with X17. The resultant blaster bolt is of an eerie dark purple, and leaves a smoky trail behind it as it flies. As it is most often wielded by undead with less than perfect aim, this design feature is intended to make every shot they do land count.
If it strikes home, the effects on flesh or armor are often catastrophic. The bolts leave sizzling, blast-furnace temperature chemicals in the wound channels they cause, and patches of armor-chewing flame should they be stopped by physical barriers. As such, this is both an energy and a flame weapon.
Unfortunately, the rate of fire is somewhat lackluster, and the recoil brisk. A user must aim cautiously to make the weapon's virtues matter, and may often find themselves outgunned by weapons capable of putting more shots downrange more quickly.
