DESCRIPTION
The Madrugar 'Mercantile' is a product designed by the Madrugar Builder Caste for primary use by the Madrugar Labor class. Intended to provide the Laborers with a safe ship to conduct trade in contested space, it is one of the only freighters in production which features a massdriver as standard equipment. It also sports excellent amenities for the crew, who are expected to spend months aboard on trade missions. One other feature of the freighter which sets it apart from competitors is its internal hangar and vehicle garage, enabling it to carry either support craft or its own escort squadron. Due to its slow speed and maneuverability, the Mercantile has not proved to be a popular choice among freighter captains in stock configuration. However, some purchasers opt to remove the ludicrously large massdriver cannon. Without the weight and power requirements of the cannon, the ship can be made significantly faster and more maneuverable. The Madrugar have made the design open source for their own native corporations to build this ship and close variants at will.
