Maen kyber crystals are formed within only five known crystal caverns on the planet Annezti, around which the Annezhadi monks have built their monasteries. The only way to gain access to these caverns is to be an Annezhadi monk and place among the top five of the annual competition held by the five monasteries. Due to the presence of the Ming-Li Force Nexus, the Maen crystals are strongly imbued with the Light side of the Force, causing them to be able to boost life-based Force powers and to resist the Dark side. Although the Annezhadi monks that use the crystals do not use lightsabers, they can be used as lightsaber crystals, as with any kyber crystal. If used in a lightsaber, it creates a soft hum, quieter than normal, and a stronger light.
