APPEARANCE:
Maho is a very short Riben-Jin girl who can almost always be found with a smile on her face. She wears her bright brown hair just above shoulder-length, framing her pale-skinned face and spectacularly-coloured eyes. These bright, heterochromic eyes are a deep blue and green, which her parents have said represent the two parts of her; the one that wishes to settle and live a normal life, and the one that desires to explore and adventure the galaxy. In her daily life, she enjoys wearing dresses and robes that are traditional among her species, though she is not afraid of donning proper armour should the need arise.
BIOGRAPHY:
Maho Aeko was born on the planet of Tiantang in 832ABY, where she was raised and lived for her entire life. Her parents were both Riben-Jin: her father a mechanic, and her mother who was once a Jedi. From her father, Maho learned some tricks of mechanics, but soon developed a love for computers; as she grew up she became quite adept at slicing. It was this passion of hers that also developed into a love of language, and by age 17, Maho was fluent in Yuyan, Galactic Basic, Binary (though she could not speak it), and Twi'leki. Maeko, as her parents nicknamed her, was passed down her force-sensitivity from her mother; though, she was never formally taught about the force. Her mother fell out of favour with the Jedi and wished for Maeko to not pursue that life, but to go after her dreams of adventure instead. Maho’s father believed she should stay on Tiantang and find a nice husband to settle down with…though part of Maeko knew this wouldn’t make her happy. And deep down, her father knew she would not stay.
In 850ABY on her 19th birthday, Maeko was gifted her mother's retrosaber, and a blaster-pistol that her father had purchased, just in case Maeko ran into trouble on her journey. And with that, she left home on a freighter, looking for work and adventure among the stars. So with ambition in her heart, she’s taken off across the galaxy and has not looked back.
Now that Maeko has left home, she is outwardly bursting with excitement; on the inside however, she is secretly terrified to be out on her home. She knows that she has no experience in dealing with the galaxy, and that if she makes one wrong mistake, it could be her last. Her naiveté however clouds her thoughts at times. She has no concept of what good and evil truly are, and is under the mindset that everyone has good in them. She shows little doubt in people, and only waits for one to prove themselves dishonest rather than them having to earn her trust. She has yet to be cheated or betrayed because of this, but Maeko is still a very fresh face in the galaxy.
Maeko struggles with her internal duality, of adventure and home. The part of her that values family, tradition, and security long for a place to live; a permanent shelter and companion to keep her safe. But her other side wishes for adventure, fortune, and experiences. Maeko's wanderlust draws her further into the galaxy, exploring worlds and cultures. Her desire for these new experiences makes her fill with joy, as she wants nothing more than to learn and tour the stars. But this desire conflicts with her other half, and the two are at war with each other. While it may come for her naivete, Maeko is rarely sullen or angry...a bright smile or grin usually occupies her face, or at the very least an expression of curiosity. She enjoys cheering anyone up that's around her, especially herself, and is quick to use her wits or charming personality to do so. She also abhors cussing, and is very stringent about others who she may travel with about using such language as well.
Maeko is driven directly by her dual desires...though in that way she is often aimless. She may be reaching out for a specific goal when her other side wins over and she changes priorities. She isn't schizophrenic...but she can quickly lose interest in what she wants because she can sometimes be extremely indecisive about things. It's this duality and unrest between the two that represents the themes in Maeko's life. Her unwavering ambition keeps her moving forwards, however, and despite being aimless at times, eventually achieves her goals through perseverance.
