STRENGTHS
  • Simple and Cheap: The biggest strength of the Mailoc is by far the ability to construct it in great numbers. While this simplicity and cheapness does have downsides, the versatility of the vehicle helps to make up for the lacking features as modularity and specialization is easily done due to such lacking specific features.
  • Windows Are A Structural Weakness: The main view for the driver comes not from a window or viewport but rather a camera, which does allow for slightly more defensibility at the cost of direct vision. Sensors, cameras, and a heads up display more than make up for the lack of a proper viewport.
WEAKNESSES
  • Windows Are A Structural Weakness: Rather than having a window for the cockpit in order for the driver to see, the Mailoc instead makes use of a camera that feeds directly into a screen in front of the driver. While this does allow for more armor, the camera can easily be disabled by a simple hit from a projectile.
  • Nippy Little Thing: While efforts have been made to improve the Mailoc in terms of armor the only real improvement of note was the addition of a light deflector shield, maintaining the speeder as a fast and nimble vehicle that still can't take direct fire from most other vehicles and starfighters.
DESCRIPTION
Named after a creature native to Dromund Kaas, the Mailoc was the perfect vehicle for the Order of Wonosa. Small and fast, with enough firepower to make up for the lacking heavy arms in the infantry. Armed with two forward-facing repeating blasters to suppress infantry and a top-mounted laser cannon, most of which were repurposed from starfighters, it came with plenty of bite and with enough room to transport and deploy the small infantry groups that the cult fielded.

As the cult expanded and became able to produce more and more of their new vehicle, the designs and a handful of the models were also sent out to the wider Sith Order to allow for production on an even larger scale. Despite the main purpose being infantry support, the Mailoc is somewhat versatile and can also be used for reconnaissance, urban combat, and even support for heavier vehicles. It served in this role for several years before the flaws of the design began to become all the more apparent, the firepower of the landspeeder being decidedly lacking with the speed barely making up for the thin hull.

With the Order having better access to industrial assets and production by this point, improvements upon the Mailoc's design swiftly began with a variety of possible solutions and specializations. Additional armor plating and alternative armaments were considered however issues with both involving production capacity began a series of concessions. To improve the efficiency of the main role that the speeder already occupied these improvements would be limited in the standard variant to the inclusion of a shield and stronger armaments alongside some basic sensors and communication packages.

The laser cannon would be replaced by a particle beam cannon in order to maximize destructive potential while maintaining area of effect damage that made the vehicle such a good infantry support speeder, the repeating blasters would also be replaced by blaster cannons for additional firepower. The basic sensors and communications were nothing special but they do allow for the Mailocs to operate more effectively as reconnaissance and scouting units in addition to improving their overall effectiveness in combat.
