So it has been brought to our attention some of you feel as those the Admins/Vets/Higher Ranking Sith are not doing enough to either support you or help you. That we have been shunning people away for various reasons. We, the Admins, assure you that is not the case.

However, if we do not know what issues or concerns you have, we can not address them and fix the problems. So if you wish to make your voice heard, please post your suggestions, ideas, and what you would like to see changed.

This thread is not to be used for finger pointing, playing the blame game, arguing, or calling others out. Please refrain from singling people out for that will only add to the problem, not solve it.

I don't see that this is the case - since returning, I've seen nothing but helpful and positive things coming from the upper echelon, as always. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that the grumbling perhaps originates from the fact that we (as always) have too many apprentices and not enough willing/able/active Knights/Master that can train them. As far as I can see, that perhaps is our own shortcoming.

Nothing some firm stabbing with an electroprod can't cure...

If this is about not having enough masters for apprentices, we can't blame anyone. It's the nature of the beast. A large portion of Sith lords have seemingly died off, disappeared, or have an IC view of only taking on one apprentice at a time, sometimes for their character's life-time.

I won't mention names...but one person has stated to us that they feel, and some others, that we are not doing enough to help them. Not Master/Apprentice things but doing threads with them...group training sessions...group outings...etc. They feel that we have no time for them....which is not the case. I, for one, and others have offered to help anyway I can...such as the Acolyte Tournament.

The same person stated they wanted to see changes...what changes you ask, good question! Because they were not specific on what changes.

"I am here, provide me with stuff to do" is a nonsensical statement, particularly when you have done that. Did you not ask for writers for your Eclipse thread? What of the Acolyte Tournament, or the trip to Korriban? How about the two Dominions that I vaguely recall seeing up and about?

Also, don't we have a list of Masters and Knights who have posted that they are available to teach, citing particular skills and strengths that we offer to share? I don't recall having received a request from a disgruntled Faction member wanting to train. Is it my job to approach every semi-active Acolyte on the board and ask them if they want me to give them some training? Is it yours? Or that of any Master? Nope - we're writers, same as our Knights, same as our Acolytes: and we all have to take responsibility for our own writing. If I'm bored, or lacking writing partners, I go look for some. Or create opportunities to whip up a thread or two - it's not like there's nobody around who would participate.

So, being fully blunt here, allow me this: if you're bored, and feel your Faction isn't doing enough to satisfy your needs, ask what you're doing to contribute to your Faction in turn. What have YOU done to promote some RP? How many people have you been in touch with, to ask about creating some shared threads? Have you talked to any Masters or Knights about training?

I won't spoonfeed anyone here: you have to work to get any RP out of me, and the same is true of most writers around here. I never say 'no' to a writing request unless it's completely out of the ballpark, and even if I do, I'll often suggest alternatives. But if you don't ask, you won't get. That's as frank as it gets. The Faction is here to bring a lot of good writers together on the same theme, and we'll work our butts off to give you a good experience, but if you're waiting for us to drop it into your lap, you're in the wrong faction.

I stated the same thing to the person and basically was told it was nothing more than excuses on the part of the Admins. Instead of working with us, they took the defensive route trying to make us feel bad...which it kinda of ticked me off but I got over it.

Here is a message I received from another person when I logged on:

Heya. After much debate and angst over this issue I am going to move (name) out of the OS. I have thought about it for a few days and I just don't think its a fit for her. im just not sure her direction matches the direction of the OS. I just wanted to tell you as opposed to just dropping and or becoming totally inactive. I love this character too much to want to not play her.

Thanks for everything. You are awesome.

Later that person joined the Jedi...started a thread with one of the Masters and in their post pretty much bashed the OS Admins.

I'm not everyone's cup of tea, and neither are you, or any of us around here: I don't mind people saying so. Complain, by all means, but have some substance to it other than "you didn't do what I wanted you to do, so you're mean".

And, let's face it, nobody keeps people in the Faction. We don't force you to stay. If we're not right for you, feel free to go elsewhere with our blessing. No grudges, won't hold it against you. Every writer has the right to go their own way and do what they want (within reason) with their own characters.

Just as long as everyone respects the fact that Venefica has that right, as do Ravenous, as does Isolda, as does everybody else in this Faction. If we don't do enough to satisfy your needs, we'll part ways amicably enough.

Oh, for reference, if the Admins make excuses, I'll be the first person to stand up and say so. From everything I've seen, they've done nothing but right by the Faction, and anyone caring to criticise how the Faction is run has three options: 1) be quiet and go back to your RP; 2) Step up to the plate and do something about it or, and this if my personal favourite, 3) Find the nearest exit and step right on through it. If the Faction isn't going on the direction you want, work to change it, or recognise we're the wrong Faction for you.

Doesn't get much more straightforward than that, mi amigo's.

Listen up, people. My dad always told me that whining doesn't fix anything. It doesn't. If you want results, then put in some effort.

I just joined this site less than a month ago. I have no special advantages or traits above any other Acolyte in this faction. I wanted to have Vi'kas trained. You want to know what I did? I communicated with other people. Hard, right? I PMed half a dozen masters, and I have a ton of training threads going on in the training grounds right now. I am apprenticed to two masters, and am training under several more. I am a member of the Hrosha-Gul and the Hounds of the Dark Lord. I am participating in the Acolyte tournament and The Korriban expedition. I consider this to be a perfectly fine amount of activity/help from this faction.

And guess what? I had no other advantages over everyone. I didn't bribe any masters. I didn't threaten anyone. No, I just talked to people. So I suggest that whoever is complaining become a self-advocate, grow up, and learn to communicate. It's an essential life skill, so better learn it now than later.

And literally, the faction Admins have been beyond helpful. As a matter of fact, the system has been working so well, that I have only had to ask one person for assistance, and she has practically solved every problem I have had (As well as most of the fac's issues, including this one). [member="Darth Venefica"] . I cannot begin to comprehend how there could be an issue that it is any admin's fault for not solving. The Admins aren't here to address the issue for you. Maybe someone should consider actually telling an Admin about their problem first, before complaining. If they refuse to help you, then by all means, come talk to me.

In the meantime, try standing up for yourself. Try being a self-advocate, and try talking to people and communicating your problems.

If someone has misgivings with the Faction as a whole then it is their own prerogative to decide how to handle those issues. If that means they will leave the faction, then that is their decision to do so. If they decide to talk badly about the leadership, that is their opinion that they're entitled to. But you, they, whoever, cannot expect someone else to do work for you. I'm not certain this person knows who the faction administration is, whether they think some others may be on the staff or not, but it's a very small amount of (I believe three or four) people. [member="Reverance"] does his best to coordinate dominions, plans, etc, that involve the whole of the faction, while [member="Darth Venefica"] does her damnedest to create an environment suitable for Acolytes. Others are involved in decision making processes. Some of the membership, such as myself or others, may seem to be involved to the point of perhaps being mistaken for faction staff, but be aware: We/I are not. Threads for dominions that were done, plans for planets to be done at certain points, open threads or quests for canon artifacts that were open to fellow OS members and competition from outside groups, those were generally done by the membership at large or those who felt comfortable enough to give their own time to act on behalf of what they felt other members of the faction may want or be interested in because it coincided with their own ideas.

In no uncertain terms is anyone obligated to pander to people, devote their attention wholly or solely, or give up their own freedom of writing their own characters to the faction 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you want to obtain something, be it a holocron, a restricted item, or obtain a rare force ability, it is not the faction you belong to's responsibility to ensure this takes place, it is your own responsibility.

I dont think its the Admins of One Sith but more of the Members, The members can make or break a faction and thats true. OS is modeled after the Krayts One SIth Empire. I remember in the Throne room thread while ago the Emperor told me specifically that no one Sith was over the other. That everyone's rank, power & influence is equal....

But it does not feel this way at all. One Sith pretends to be united until you dont agree with certain members, Or dont do what they want. So its more like an Elitist community in the SIth that not everyone can be apart of. ( similar to the Illuminati ) The Choice members of the high elitist group use and abuse and it gives One Sith a bad rep which is not very fair.

The Admins of OS are great, I love em. Its the Illuminati group of members that cause harm to the faction's Rep and OOC Drama.

I think you aren't wrong here. We have tried to solve this by being active with everyone and having an open door policy. I do my very best, as does Darth Venefica and Matsu, to answer questions that come through the door. But we are but 3 in a room of 400 (minus the alts of course). Either way, if we forget stuff, just remind us. It's not our intent to favor people (if you want my skype, pm me and I'll give it to you - I'm very easy to get a hold of on there).

This is simply crazy. It's incomprehensible that such a thing can tizzy someone off.

We literally had like, 7 dominions, an Acolyte Tourney, and an expedition to Korriban (both of which I have involved myself with [though the dominions considerably less if I'll admit, I was more focused on the less developed Primeval])

I will say that I have not been active enough in acquire a true master, the one that approached me has been A.W.O.L. but I don't have that against him, it's just the unfortunate truth. I will take a step forward, and go contact another master on the list for availability, just because of this ridiculous notion that the faction is somehow magically obligated to fulfill all your wishes on its own without any work done on part of member.

Guess what people: a faction is made of people just like you, and you are no more entitled to their unending support as you are to them. It bothers me when people forget that these things are LITERALLY made of people, and they are not our personal droids to do as we please when we please it.
