NAME: Malai Ka
FACTION: None
RANK: NONE!
SPECIES: Diathim
AGE:100 Young Adult Appearance
SEX: Single Sex Race (Feminine)
HEIGHT: 2.1 Galactic Standard Meters (approximately 6'11")
WEIGHT: ? ? ? Pounds
EYES: White Ice-Blue
HAIR: White
SKIN: WHITE.
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yeah.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
Strengths:
Diathim Physiology: These strengths are common amongst all Diathim.
Flight: Diathim wings are said to glow a soft yellow, and are capable of flight both within planetary atmosphere and in the vacuum of space.
Survival: Diathim do not require air to survive, and may survive within even the vacuum of space without ill effect.
Varied Appearance: Diathim are difficult to view clearly - their glowing appearance seems to always appear as a comely version of whatever race looks at them. Humans see attractive glowing (tall) human women, etc. Diathim possess no control over this power, and generally always appear the same to the same onlooker. These appearances always retain certain features, and cannot mimic the appearance of non-humanoid species. This appearance carries over even into those who view through other forms, appearing in picture and video as the viewer's species, if possible.
Beauty: Diathim in flocks are a legendary hazard that strand thousands of spacegoers who stray too close to Iego. A single one is just enough to distract someone a bit.
Unique: These strengths are unique to Malai Ka
Force: Malai Ka has a wild, untamed connection to the Force, that drove her to leave her peoples traditional home to seek mastery over.
Weaknesses:
Eye-Catching: A nearly 7 foot tall, white glowing sapient with large shining wings is not exactly inconspicuous. Ever.
Untamed: You wont catch Malai lifting any rocks or saving any lives with her Force capabilities - she's more likely to hurt herself in the process, at least.
Pacifist: Malai is soft, and has never held a weapon in her life. She wouldn't know what way a blaster fires, let alone be able to aim one at someone.
Tech-Illiterate: Malai is capable of the bare basics of technological living: she can poke a touch screen to order food, and can usually figure out her comm. Anything more advance than a communicator and she's going to be lost.
Naive: Diathim all tend towards kindness and caring for each other. Everywhere else does not, and this Diathim is not quite aware of this fact yet. Easily fooled by lies and tricks.
APPEARANCE:
In all appearances, Malai Ka is a pleasant looking person, eyes a silver-blue with a lesser glow compared to that of her skin. Her Diathim skin, like all of her people, is a pure porcelain white, with a glow similar to that of a low level lamp present at all times, just bright enough to obscure the minute details of her features. Those who have physiologies they cannot mimic easily see a sharper image than others, however. A Diathim's true features include a smooth armor-like appearance wherever they lack clothing, without sexual identifying characteristics, and with long hair taking on a more feather-like appearance. In this form, which Diathim all see each other in, Malai is an average member of her species, though a little on the small side, her feather like hair extremely long. Her 'skin' errs towards the whiter hues, rather than the darker yellows of the older members of her species, marking her as young, barely into adulthood.
Clothing is something of a new thing to Malai Ka, though she was properly prepared for her voyage by members of her species that had diplomatic ties to the greater galactic society. Due to this, she possesses little in the sense of style - indeed the girl has instead taken to wearing whatever garishly bright colors she could afford, even those that do not at all match to each other. The only thing keeping her from an even more eclectic wardrobe is a complete lack of credits.
BIOGRAPHY:
It's pretty easy being a Diathim. Almost all of them lived upon the moons of Iego, far above the planet itself and the 'Demons' that live under the surface, barring those social outcastes willing to leave their families, their home, their lives behind to go into the galaxy. Malai was certain that would never be her, as she wandered between the moons, as she followed the life a Diathim should. Things were always slightly different for her - whenever she grew excited her trembling seemed to echo ever so slightly into the moon around her, when she grew fearful while flying over the surface of Iego and witnessing the tragedy of the Scatter the air seemed to grow full of wind, and when she settled into a gentle repose nature around her followed suit. Weird stuff, but nothing all that notable. Her life was a simple one, of following the Patterns of the Moons with her fellows, dancing in the dark skies above Iego while the Castaway humans wept at the beauty that had stranded them.
But something caught her attention, one day unlike the thousands of others she had gone through, as she danced above the Scatter and looked over the land. A woman upon a ship, crashed like all the others, but not a crazed inhabitant of the Scatter screaming and yelling at her. A calm woman who seemed at peace with watching. And so this became part of Malai's standard pattern. Every few weeks she returned to the same spot in the sky, to create the same dance for her audience, who always was there waiting under the sky of a thousand moons. Years went by. Dances turned to approach, and in time to conversation. Malai had spoken to one of the creatures she had helped strand upon the world she used to dance just out of reach of. It was a revelation, so much out there in the galaxy to find, so many people who would be missed, because they had crashed.
For the first time, the Diathim wept. Her eyes dropped tears that faded as soon as they dropped off, like glitter carried in a wind. Sadness was something foreign to Malai, for why would she ever have been sad? But this new feeling stayed with her as she danced, and in time she ceased her dancing. It was a sad time for her, as she watched her people enter the Choir and move to the heavens for the first time as an observer, not a participant. Instead she sat upon the grave of her new friend, whom she found passed. Sadness consumes, and it leads to the darkside, and the longer she sat there, the more she felt its touch in her nascent force potential. The Demons did not come to consume the Angel, as she dwelled in a sadness that seeped a palpable dread into those around her. It was only as she collapsed and was carried back by her people - who had been watching her for some time - that she realized anything was happening.
She didn't understand this, and went to her people's elders, not to dance in the Patterns alongside those she had called sister, but to question her existence, and why she felt the way she did. The Diathim lived for many ages, and the oldest among them knew much of the outside world - they had at times participated in the greater galactic community, coming to the aid of the Republic in ages gone past. These Diathim took her from the pattern, and for a time they danced only in tongues, as they taught her of herself and those outside it. Few Diathim with the gift of the Force stayed with their people, because these rumblings came at times, that called them to more, and the elders knew this. So they provided what aid they could, in the form of a ship gifted to them by a Republic long fallen, kept safe under the timeless skies of Iego's moons. Or safe enough to fly, and knowledge that she could touch the Force, and should seek someone to guide her, before she harms herself again.
SHIP: B-7 Light Freighter (Approx 1100 years out of date, unarmed and barely flying)
Note: Malai cannot pilot a ship on her own. She was lucky enough to receive the guidance of an elder well enough to leave the Iego system, but she wont be flying around the galaxy without help.
