Mandalorians have always carried very powerful weaponry. Even their most common blaster pistols have a tendancy to be rediculously OP. They got a reputation during the Jedi Civil War for being much more high quality than regular pistols, and they could be found for decades after the Mandalorian Wars. While almost no surviving examples from that time period remain, the modern ones carry on the tradition of giving you enough firepower to shave Chewbacca at a distance.
