Sidearms are an invaluable weapon. Reliable and easy to carry. Not a substitute for a rifle, or a Beskad, but invaluable regardless. Mandalorians for millennia have recognised this, and have often modified regular blaster pistols to kick harder than normal, even against other heavy blaster pistols. Of course, in Mandalorian nature, this kick goes both ways.
This Mandalorian Heavy Pistol, however, kicks a bit harder than most others of it's kind. Why? Because it's worth it. It's designed to be a sidearm, it's designed for limited use, focusing on getting it's user out of a tough pinch. Even if it means it's user has a sore wrist afterwards. Afterall, when there's a starving Krak'jya atop you, a sore wrist is going to be the least of your worries.
In the fashion of Volo Skaigh, though, even a sidearm is not free from his modifications, however limited. In this case, the only modification is a thermal scope. Eternally useful when one needs every advantage they can get.
