The "Ehn'briik" or "Three strings" is an ancient instrument thought to have played during the time of the Taung's exodus from coruscant, But the design was slowly phased out in favor of aruetii instruments during the days leading up to the clone wars, And all but lost during the purge. These designs had fallen into obscurity but were preserved by small clans and coverts. The instrument never reached the same heights as it once had, But with the fall of mandalore, Many mandalorians are resurrecting and clinging to older traditions, And the Ehn'briik is making a small come back.
The Ehn'briikis a plucked stringed instrument. Its construction follows a model similar to that of a guitar or a Hallikset. with a neck and strings stretched across a resonating body. The neck of the Ehn'briik is fretless and slimmer than that of a guitar or Hallikset. The body, called the dō, resembles a drum, having a hollow body that is covered front and back with skin. The skin used depends on the genre of music and the skill of the player. Traditionally skins were made using Fanned Rowl or Shatual skin, but use of these skins gradually fell out of favor when both became a rarity during the clone wars era, due to mandalore's then moon-like landscape. Contemporary shamisen skins are often prepared with synthetic materials, such as plastic, fabric and various leathers.
