Obsidian Fury
In his minds eye, he could still see the smoke wafting up from the ruins of his birth place. The cries of pain, the emptiness that remained, as each of his brothers in Taka Group were wrenched from the realm of the living. No stranger to death, the suddenness of it all was unlike anything he had experienced before. One moment they were there, the next, in a storm of surprise and confusion... They were gone. The only evidence that they had ever existed to begin with sat before his eyes, in the HUD of his helmet, the crimson exes next to their IFF. Burning tears were drawn from his eyes, and without a doubt, he was certain they were hotter than the blistering heat that reached up to the skies, trying to consume him.
Captain. The reflection that looked back at him was no different than before the promotion.
"Recognition... Earned in blood."
Dark eyes peered back at him. Eye contact was made, and his gaze shifted down to the bottom of the mirror. Peering up at him, his polished helmet. Free of the ash and scorch marks that had plagued it on the day of the bombing. A heavy hand dropped on the top of its dome, his second joining it at its side before his digits curled around the lip of the bucket and placed it over his head.
The world behind the dark grey exterior came to life.
Higher clearance. Private quarters. And... Replacements.
At his wrist, the holo-display came up, and the files of numerous stormtroopers rolled past as his index swiped.
First Lieutenants Grang and Suladi... Second Lieutenants Toth and Rannis...Commanders... Absentmindedly, he stepped out of the refresher, the automatic door whooshing open behind him before he stepped into his quarters. By the door, his vibrosword. Sheathed over his shoulder, he stepped out into the corridor of the prefabricated base.
<<"Brukes. Alert the Lord Regent that I am on my way.">>
<<"Yes Lieu- Captain.">>
At first his lips parted into a smile. Through the base and the winding halls he went. Things were different now. Much of Carannia, his home, was more or less rubble. And he was charged with the protection of the planet. The entire planet. Two hundred men wasn't enough. Five hundred wasn't enough. Not with how deep they had dug through the lines of the Sith Empire. Save for one, they were surrounded on all sides. It was a bold move to come this far, and hindsight he was sure, plagued them all.
At his back, the jetpack burst to life, and the prefab base, along with Carannia, quickly fell into the distance as he traveled to House Nalju.
