I'm Sorry Dave
- Intent: Practice big stick diplomacy a bit too literally; the bigger the gun the better, right?

- The Manticore-class is outfitted with all the features and facilities one would expect from a vessel of its size and purpose, among these:
- Full Neurocrown Integration (Optional)
- Hypersleep Caskets for Crew (Optional)
- Antisepsis and Magcon Field Generators
- Nutrimax Dispensers for Culinary Efficiency
- AI Core/Central Computer; Variable Software
- Highly modular torpedo tubes, usually Starhammers or loaded with proton, ion, or diamond boron torpedoes.
- Manticores are outfitted with a Subdrive for rapid in-system repositioning.
- Strike First, Strike Last: Manticores are spaceborne artillery in all but name, cruiser-sized platforms for a singular, massive ion cannon designed to incapacitate other capital ships in a single withering salvo - and then rip them apart with a barrage of torpedoes.
- Close Quarters Combat: Manticores are ill-suited for close-quarters combat, especially if caught in its cannon's lengthy recharge cycle.
- Heart of the Flotilla: Manticores lack the fighter support and manoeuvrability to confidently operate without a supporting flotilla.
It is said that the Force is on the side with the best artillery; if so, the Manticore must surely be the king of cruisers.
In contrast to the vast majority of capital ships - with the exception of those sporting superlasers, such as the Eclipse-class - the Manticore is built around its primary weapon, not the other way around. Indeed, the power requirements are such that it must be reloaded with a Solid State Visium rod after each three-shot volley; against smaller vessels, these are frequently 'shared around' rather than concentrated on one target.
Given the volatility of its power supply, a direct hit to the weapon during the firing sequence or internal sabotage would likely cripple the cruiser or even destroy it outright if the chain reaction spreads to the nearby torpedo battery. For this reason, escorts are recommended.
