Subject 37
The Cracked Mirror
- Intent: To continue to Sub Slevin and Natalia's Children
- Image Credit: Adam Schumpert, [member="Netherworld"]
- Role: Daughter, Coratanni Captain
- Links: SIN
- Age: 22
- Force Sensitivity: Master
- Species: Yaka
- Appearance:
It is clear that she modeled herself on the appearance of force users from around the Galaxy, albeit in a twisted sort of manner. She wears robes but modifies them with plates of armor and unique colors, she carries herself tall but moves in a way that makes it clear her intent is nothing but deadly. Mara is a woman that many ask questions about, and it is this that she tries to foster at every turn.
Beneath her robes Mara appears much like her sister Verin, the two of them having long since been close.
She has the same brightly dyed hair, a litany of piercings, and a large set of tattoos that cover almost her entire body. Though few ever see her this way, the ones that do often comment on the almost sheer white color of her eyes.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
- Name: Mara Thawne
- Loyalties: SIN, Coratanni Cartel, Natalia & Slevin Thawne
- Wealth:
- Notable Possessions:
Psicom 1260 Interface
Hifold Sensory Package
Digital Lockpick
Socket Spike
Various Miscellaneous Gear
- Skills:
Her powers in the force are on par with most Masters, though the way she utilizes them is entirely brash and untrained. Having never had proper tutelage in the use of the force Mara is probably no match for a true 'Master' of the force, though her lack of knowledge in the true forms of her power makes her use of them entirely unpredictable.
Not having a proper teacher in the use of the force means that Mara has studied all her life on her own, with Slevin and Natalia helping when and where they could. This life of study has made her incredibly observant, capable of quickly absorbing knowledge and learning new skills on the fly. Though she is not the most naturally intelligent child of the Thawne's, she is at the very least near the top.
- Personality:
Though Mara was not treated any better than the other children, they ensure that she received special attention. This jump started Mara's 'elder sister' complex, her standing within the family raised due to her abilities. She is incredibly protective of her siblings in particular, not talking down to them but always watching out for them. This is especially true for the Coratanni Bio slicers, whom Mara feels especially close to.
With others Mara attempts to maintain an air of mystery.
She hardly ever speaks unless she needs to, hides her face, and generally attempts to be out of the limelight. Though she can be quite dominating, Mara prefers not to lead from the front, instead standing within the shadows and directing things.
COMBAT INFORMATION
- Weapon of Choice: The Force
- Combat Function:
Unlike the other Coratanni Children Mara did not train in multiple fighting styles or different uses of the blaster, instead she focused on the gift that set her apart from most others. Her capabilities in the force are what she uses to defend herself, and since she has been training since childhood she is quite adept at using them. Her skills are raw and unrefined since she never had the benefit of a true teacher, but she is more than capable of holding her own.
Of course, because she never learned under the tutelage of either Jedi or Sith she had no knowledge in the use of lightsabers. Due to this she prefers fighting from afar, using telekinesis and various push and pulls within the force to affect the battlefield.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Mara is unique among the Thawne children, being one of the few of Slevin and Natalia's kids that actively chose to go with the Crime Lord's instead of being kidnapped or otherwise taken.
Though this has happened once or twice, Mara herself was one of the older kids that actively made the choice.
She was born on Nar Shaddaa to a refugee mother and a father whom she'd never met. Most of her life was spent in squalor, and her mother abandoned her at an extremely age. From six years old Mara had to fend for herself, moving through the streets of Nar Shaddaa and surviving as best she could among the refuse and refugees.
It was during these times of extreme stress that Mara's gifts first manifested themselves, the young girl using the force on and off to defend herself and what meager possessions she managed to have.
For nearly five years she lived in this way, fighting, nearly dying, and subsisting in a way that most could only dream of in their worst nightmare.
This was how Mara lived, fighting for every scrap and biting into whatever she could until one day her life changed. Walking down the street she found an open door leading into a massive hall, being curious, and sensing something that she could gain, Mara ventured inside. Within she found stacks and stacks of crates, and among them two groups of men and women.
On one side stood the Coratanni Cartel, on another the Black Sun.
A negotiation took place and within just a few moments things quickly broke down. The thugs fought one another, and most within her were brutally killed, yet two stuck out to Mara. A man and a woman who seemed to flow through the fight with a divine sort of assurance, ending the battle covered in blood.
It was after the death of the thugs that they noticed the child, Mara, hiding behind one of the crates.
She saw these two Titans, this man and woman who had defended themselves from three times their number and come out on top. She saw their strength, and she wanted it.
The girl approached the two Crime Lords, her head held high and her eyes filled with curiosity. They watched her as she came closer, Natalia leaning low to brush the girls hair aside. She spoke words of comfort, of love, of sinister manipulations. She drew the girl to herself, and the family gained it's first daughter.
