  Born on the affluent world of Metellos on the octaquincentennial of the Battle of Yavin, Mara Voss was always a difficult child.
  
  Early records indicate that as a young girl, she often came into conflict with forces of authority. Her primary school teachers wrote reports of her bullish nature, secondary school teachers complained about her sense of self-importance, and her university professors usually attributed her attitude to an overinflated ego. It was very hard for her to make friends in her youth, but with age comes wisdom, and over time the fiery little girl within her subsided and gave way to a ruthless, but occasionally friendly politician.
  
  Early in her career, she devoted significant time to charitable works, and for a while operated within the Office of the Minister of Health, running programs to feed hungry children. The exact type of thing that looks great on one's resume. But Metellos was not the bright jewel it used to be (or ever was), and under its city-scarred surface were individuals caught up in an unfair cycle of systemic poverty - an existence that Mara had never known, and that broke her profoundly. Exposure to the unsavory elements of galactic society pushed her away from the politics of her conservative father (a former three term Mayor) and into the arms of a populist movement that had begun years after the brutal Mawite invasion of her world.
  
  Like her father before her, she would pursue political opportunities in her home city, before eventually coming to serve as an advisor to an administration that shared her views. Never one to pass up an opportunity, Mara would jump at the chance to represent the world in the Federal Assembly once the Metellos System's Senate seat came up for grabs...
