Their matriarchal and patriarchal society prioritizes education and loyalty, with a militaristic religion promising paradise for those who die in battle. Resilient and relentless, they embody strength.
Their civilization operates under a feudal system, with a hierarchical structure led by the Kaiser and noble lords who control vast territories. Commoners work the land in exchange for protection and support, paying tribute to the nobility. For instance, Lord Roderick owns an estate with villagers working as farmers, providing labor and resources in exchange for security. Loyalty to the ruling class defines Marbrecretian society, with services and resources exchanged for protection.
- Religion/Beliefs:
The Marbrecretian Empire's culture revolves around war and confrontation, which they idolize and celebrate. They believe dying in battle leads to paradise with ancestors, a belief crucial in their harsh environment. Viewing life as a test of strength, they see the desert as a challenging trial. Surviving there proves one's capability to overcome any obstacle.
- General behavior:
Marbrecretians, akin to desert creatures, prioritize independence and self-reliance, with little concern for others' feelings. They value honor above all, displaying fierce pride and arrogance, believing in their superiority. Their strength, both physical and emotional, can make them appear cold or callous. Despite this, they hold unwavering loyalty to friends and allies, even if undeserving.
History:
In the early days, Marbrecretian tribes lived in isolation until they discovered a river flowing from the mountains, bringing prosperity. Initially, they fought over its bounty but united against the Desert Horde, becoming the strongest tribe and forming the Marbrecretian Empire.
They built the City of the Eos around the river's oasis, erecting the Temple of the Eos for sun worship, believing it would ensure victory in battle. Today, the Marbrecretian Empire reigns over the Whispering Badlands, with elected leaders chosen based on combat and skill feats.
Cultural Development:
The Whispering Badlands is home to tough and resourceful nomadic tribes, surviving in a harsh, dry desert environment without relying on technology. Marbrecretians see life as a struggle, living by their wits and physical strength, choosing weapons and fighting styles that suit them.
Their society operates as a meritocracy, rewarding prowess in battle with power and authority. Marbrecretian children are raised communally, taught basic survival skills, and the importance of hard work. Education is highly valued, with schools teaching various subjects.
Marbrecretians marry young and usually stay together for life in a matriarchal and patriarchal society, with women holding social power. Men are expected to be warriors, providers, and protectors, with honor being paramount. They are fiercely loyal to their Kaiser, elected by peers.
Religion:
The Marbrecretians' religion is militaristic, centered on their belief in being created by gods. They see themselves as superior and live by the sword, viewing life as a constant struggle for survival. In their belief system, dying honorably in battle is preferable to perishing in the desert. They envision an afterlife where spirits meet ancestors in the Hall of Ancestors, facing judgment that determines whether they join their ancestors in paradise or wander the desert forever.
