For the purposes of this outline, I will be suggesting at least one staff initiated thread for each of these steps. Others are welcome to begin threads related to the overall goal. This "Control" thread will be used to guide members in creating faction oriented personal threads that allow us to advance our goals as well as the writers developing their characters through the process.

Outline:

Step I - Withdrawal
  • Coordinating with each government branch, all military presence will be removed from the following Hexes and replaced with interdiction and early warning systems as well as signal jamming. A simple message will be deployed along this new "Neutral Zone" and no enforcement activities will be undertaken without express permission from the highest level of government. A thread for this could be FO members writing the "Lead up to" withdrawal OR could be First Order members writing from an NPC perspective (this would be cool) as they realize the Order is gone from their respective worlds.
  • My goal with this step is for people to branch off and write their own characters, whether that's on our worlds or even our embassies and diplo staff disappearing/withdrawing. (Could be a cool "We got a secret message and now we gotta as inconspicuously as possible leave/disappear).
Step II - Reorganization
  • A number of First Order agencies will be folding into a unified structure. The branches of the civilian government will be clearly defined and the military will see some shuffling. During this time, a new mission will be commissioned deeper into the Unknown Regions to see the updated structure in motion.
  • The Ren have gone unchecked far too long - a culling will occur, all Ren aside from PC characters will be culled (This can be adjusted, but the number should be small, academies will be burned to the ground (Unless there are people who have subs that they don't want messed up - we can work around that). Praetorians will see more use as the arbiters of Sieger's will. They will often be tasked with things outside of FO space. This will be pertinent with the galactic shadow we will be hiding in.
Step III - Into the West
  • As aforementioned, the focus now will be taming the Unknown Regions. Think opportunity for First Order colonies, obscure dark side lore, fringe tech/lore (Within reason) and opportunity for a much grittier plot. It's key we continue to uphold the Imperial aesthetic but perhaps a more gritty version of it as we'll be in "Uncharted Territory". Threads here are yet undetermined, but we should plan on including our Dominion under this heading. Saving a colony, discovering ancient ruins, investigating a lost colony, all sorts of options here. Users may add threads on their own here without issue as this will be VERY open.
Intermediate - Many Options

Other ideas for threads inbetween that involve faction:
  • Ren Expedition
    I would really like to see more "Padawan Adventures" type things. Get people to grow through adventures.

[*]Border Incursions
  • For the Navy folk, maybe have Rogue Pirates, other factions, or even random things the navy has to deal with either in the exclusion zone or even outside our borders in support of other goals whether that's acquiring tech or otherwise. This will work very well in the uncharted regions as we will be going to isolationism.

[*]Ren Initiations
  • This was a concept we played with but never saw to fruition. I would like to implement these again with a fervor - allowing the Ren to fully assume the "Cult" style as well as give them a sort of remix. I think having these rites will allow new members a cool experience while also giving our existing members room to play.

[*]Discovered Civilizations
  • This would be good for our Scientists, Doctors, Medical Military staff, or anyone. We can come up with some fringe civilizations to discover or interact with. Help or hinder. Maybe a planet has a plague, a planet has unique political problems with a neighboring one, stuff like that. It will require some assistance from staff - but a new angle at least.

The Options are really endless, these are just a few off the top of my head.

Which systems/hexes are we proposing to make the 'neutral zone'? The first bullet under 'Withdrawal' references "the following hexes" but I don't see the list.

As part of the proposed withdrawl storyline, I'd like to consider setting up a small 'concentrated' failsafe. Some cross between the canon First Order, Asimov's Foundation, and the Fallout universe's 'Enclave' - basically a protected, secret fortress to ensure the continuation of the First Order in the event of s failure of the larger, public face of the First Order. Essentially, this would be a number of higher-ranking individuals of the government and the military and trusted individuals and would be absolutely, 100% secret.

I'll elaborate more on this tomorrow but I wanted to put it out there and see what reactions people have.

Meeting Notes from 11/26/18

- Reworded "Withdrawal". Full withdrawal unsat. Instead, consolidation. All "Stormtrooper Corps" will be withdrawn as well as Naval forces. These will be replaced by Auxiliary which will become the official "Militia" forces of each world.

- Rationale discussed. Supreme Leader mandates a priority push into the Unknown Regions (To discover a way to undo the blood magic/sorcery performed upon him by Samka Derith - to sever the puppet strings. Government/ Natasi may rationalize and propaganda push "We have seen what the greater galaxy has to offer, and it has left me wanting./ and I am unimpressed."

- Reorganization of the military will take place, however further discussion may be required. Organization chart will need to be established. I have done some work on this but will continue. Essentially, we will need to re-examine the mission statement for each of our organizations and give them an objective. For example, the FOSB will be responsible for deploying more assets among our self imposed "Less Important Worlds" as well as interacting with other factions.

- Key Worlds (Or some other designation) will be the windows into Life in the First Order. It will be through these worlds that all contact/negotiation/visibility into the First Order will occur. Life in other parts of the Empire may be similar but consider life on these key worlds the "Redacted" version of Imperial Life.

- The Ren Culling - Let's discuss this more, however the basic gist is that the Ren will be wiped to only PC's and a handful of NPC's. No more official support from the government. In fact, it may be interesting to have the FOSB take part in the culling of NPC Ren and dismantling of their academies and training grounds (That are not designated as 'Keep' by Sieger). I think this is a good opportunity to trim the fat off the Knights of Ren, and redefine them at the same time. Keep in mind, it isn't ALL Ren, but only those non-PC characters.
