A plain, average human man, there ain't much to set Captain Kydd apart from your usual space scoundrel except for his bright, witty eyes and that laid-back spunk with which he carries himself. A bit on the shorter side when compared to the giants that would seem to be walking around the galaxy these days, Marnie has an athletic and capable body with a decent layer of muscle about him that could be more defined if only he wasn't so fond of his Ports in a Storm. He has got several tattoos dispersed about his form, particularly on his back, legs and arms - most of them depicting aquatic or aerial animals from around the galaxy.
A simple man with simple tastes and used to a life of hard, gratifying work, he is not one for fashion and won't bat an eye at a bit of sweat and grime which, given his profession, tend to cling to his skin quite often. He'll throw on any piece of clothing available to him so long as it fits and it's comfortable, with little care for colors, patterns, or materials. Worn leather jackets or vests, cotton shirts in earthen tones, a trusty pair of boots and just about any pair of pants are what one could usually expect to see him in. When he needs to, Marnie can clean up quite well - although getting him to wear a suit like them pretty office boys might take some convincing at first.
Perfectly comfortable and confident in his own skin, the Pamarthen's most remarkable trait is not necessarily his appearance in and of itself but rather his demeanor and presence. Far from being the most striking or eye catching fella around, that confidence goes the extra mile and makes him quite popular among people if only for the free and easy energy he projects.

Hailing from a large island on Pamarthe, Maren was born into a big family with two brothers and many sisters. His father a well known pilot and his mother an explorer, he would be introduced since an early age to a life full of adventure and dynamism, growing up aboard ships both sky and seafaring or running across tropical forest, beaches, and dormant volcanic mountains.
Making good credit as an independent spacer was no easy task, and it would not take long until the happy-go-luck pilot began taking jobs as a smuggler or hired pilot all throughout the outer rim. Making some valuable connections, some friends, and a lot of enemies in the process - Maren travelled through the outer rim visiting all kinds of places and adding more than one crazy story to his repertoire of anecdotes that he will so eagerly share with others today. He built a reputation for himself both as a scoundrel and an outstanding dogfighter. The winds of luck were with him until the outer rim began to fall in disarray.
With the progressive but steady weakening of the Coalition that controlled those territories, instability and violence began to escalate. Soon enough small wars were breaking out everywhere as the struggle for power begun. Friends became enemies, enemies became friends, and all around innocents were left to the fate that would be handed to them with no help whatsoever once the Coalition fell. He could have left in search for calmer skies, but either having a heart too big or a head too stubborn, Maren remained. Leaving his freighter and smuggling days behind, the Pamarthen would finally commit to the one true love of his life: a good, old, sturdy starfighter, when he joined the efforts of a rogue assortment of pilots that tried to take the brunt off of the civilians and protect who they could from those that were ready to abuse them in their hour of need.
It was a few years later that he would meet the Confederates, advancing on the territory that had been left astray after the Coalition crumbled with a purpose very similar to his. Protecting the people from those who had taken advantage of a perilous situation to fuel their own greedy, heartless agendas. He fought alongside Confederate pilots on several occasions, either by luck or alliances he believed would only last as long as their common enemy did - but not long after the purple flag made a space for itself within Maren's heart, and the Pamarthen chose to become a Confederate citizen and enlist in the starfighter corps.

- Airborne: If it flies he can fly it, and if it doesn't he can probably make it fly. Maren's talent for piloting spaceships is nothing short of uncanny, and this rings particularly true if the spacecraft in question is a starfighter. Reflexes that would make him look like a space wizard, unparalleled spatial awareness, the eyes of a hawk, and something that can only be described as natural talent make for one formidable pilot.
- Fighter: His aim would seem to be just as good whether he is blasting another starfighter out of the sky or squeezing the trigger on a blaster gun or rifle. He can also throw a punch and has been in more bar brawls than he'll admit to.
- Charming: Being a social butterfly with a whole lot of charisma and words that would seem to always be just right has helped him go far in life. He has gotten out of many a tight spot just by talking, and got his way in many other occasions through those same means. Maren is very much in touch with his own emotions, and more often than not will pick up on other people's with little more than one look. He might be no senator material, but he'll charm the socks off of an angry wookiee.
- "That's bad luck, mate": A sailor of the stars, Maren is very superstitious. His squadron teammates will never stop being surprised by the amount of seemingly unimportant and harmless stuff that the Pamarthen considers a bad or a good omen. The former can make him feel a bit wary of leaving the star port while the latter will make him jump into action with that extra bit of confidence, although to some it's quite shocking that he could get any more confident than he already is.
- Sentimental: He wears his heart on his sleeve and empathizes with people. Years of wandering the galaxy have taught him the importance of being objective and knowing when there can be no room for compassion, but it never made the weight of making such a decision any less heavy. He doesn't forgive his own mistakes nearly as easily as he does others' and often remembers the past with melancholy. Furthermore, his heart can sometimes get the best of him and result in an emotional outburst.
- Compact Sized: Nor the tallest, nor the largest, he knows he is not much material for intimidation and that he better stay out of a larger man's reach. Maren will always try to talk himself out of a fist fight but when he can't, pride and honor often keep him from doing the sensible thing and trying to escape. Good thing he is agile and fast.
- Overthinker: Believing that no action, sentiment, or idea is irrelevant and that all is part of something bigger, Maren is extremely observant and prone to questioning. While those are good qualities to have, they also mean that he will lose sleep thinking about what happened, how, why, and what to do about it. He rarely takes anything at face value.
