SPECIAL FEATURES
- Through a complex process, the Spirit Anchor removes the aspects of Mariah's spirit that limit it to a single body. This permits her to be present across multiple simultaneously, rather than only one that controls the others. Not dissimilar to hive minds, or one-minds. The anchor itself is named as such, because it latches onto her spirit if ever any body is lost, taking it away safely before anything else can grab hold of it, or that it can dissipate or be destroyed.
- Allows Mariah to be in multiple forms at once, at the cost of her focus being spread out.
- Can save Mariah from being completely eradicated or have her spirit trapped.
- Should the anchor itself somehow be found and destroyed, she'd still be alive, but would be unable to progress her usage of it further.
- The Spirit Anchor itself is extremely durable, and incredibly difficult to destroy.
- Once a body has been anchored to her spirit, it's next to impossible for an external source to take it or suppress it by force.
- Because of her control over her spirit, she is able to kill one of her own bodies relatively easily under most circumstances, though there could be exceptions.
- Multiple bodies means her attention can be spread out to thinly. Taking on two is relatively simple, but seven would be a monstrous task.
- Her actual power is only ever concentrated in one body, it doesn't bounce between them without some additional skill, power, or other outside force. It is not within the power of the Spirit Anchor to do so.
- The Spirit Anchor is not something she can simply carry around. It is a huge device that would at best be able to be moved by a ship or vehicle. But is not ideal for mobile purposes.
- While her power may not be present in all bodies, she may be able to be detected as the same person through the force regardless. Although there would be differences, they could reasonably be sifted through by an adept force sense.
- Though incredibly durable, it is not technically indestructible. Given enough time it could be broken into.
- Taking hold of bodies is not always simple, the Anchor itself provides no inherent advantages in this area.
- Not subtle: Whenever it's saving or sending Mariah's spirit, it can be felt on location, as though she were there.
- Should she lose all forms, she would be stuck to only the anchor. Finding a new one would be up to either advance preparation, or great difficulty if not outside help.
- Nullification/cancellation upon the device would prevent it providing any help in sending her spirit out again to any new source. As well as capturing it and pulling it back should she be in danger. Suppression of sufficient strength could achieve the same. Not destroying the device, but making it unusable for the duration of it's presence.
Mariah's Spirit Anchor is arguably her final evolution of the progress she made with White 6, Arana. The droid she made was designed so she could project her power and will upon it from afar, so she could be present, without truly being present. Driven by her fear of death, Mariah had been pursuing means of immortality. Most of her goals continued down the same route, command of droids from a distance, or, down a route untread for her, the creation of a species. However, she was afraid the passage of time before such a creation could take place would be too much. So instead, she continued with what she knew. She hyper-focused on the functions of the presence of a force user, their will, their power, themselves, and their connections. Many sith through history had used Essence transfer, others had used mind control, some had been able to enact something akin to both at once. So she attempted the same. The best she could obtain, an imperfect recreation, but a safe one. Via her Spirit Anchor.
The Spirit Anchor is a large ritually and alchemically made artifact, designed so that Mariah can project herself to it, and from it, onto another. So she can be a body, organic or inorganic, yet which if such a body should perish, would snatch her spirit back to it before it could be stolen away again. Simultaneously, it enhances her ability to be present mentally in multiple forms. However her power, and mind, remains limited. Only one form is her. The others are merely commanded by her will. And possess only what she can use of them. The more she tries to hold onto, the less she can focus on any of them. Like Arana, the Spirit Anchor is designed to be so connected to her, that she can't be forced out, or muted by force cancelling powers. But also just like Arana, it won't save her from such abilities restricting her form. Only from separating her from what is also, still her. Once she's taken a form, she can't leave it without killing it.
When active in saving, or sending, her spirit, the machine will glow, the center orb will rise, and Mariah's presence would become detectable on it's location through the force. As though she had been there herself. If no bodies are present and the anchor has just saved her from an otherwise total death, she will indeed be there. Figuring out how to be more than just stuck in an anchor will be its own challenge.
