MarioKart Rainbow Road

I think we all agree that we need a reorganization of the IC and OOC leadership as it relates to the overarching story of the One Sith as it stands.

Right now, those who have IC leadership positions seem to be focusing on their personal storylines and the overall plot for the OS has stalled. Yes we want to conquer the galaxy, but every dominion, invasion, and skirmish is just another standalone event.

There hasn't been a faction thread in months.

The Wills, Voices, Hands, Wrath, Eye, Hair, Teeth etc. seem to be stagnated.

The NFU's are stymied.

No one uses the Dark Lord.

We have 2 members of the OOC staff who are NFU's including our FO. Let's take advantage of that.

I heard talk of a council with both on it. I heard talk of two councils, separate but equal.

Either one could work, hear me out here.

First off, have NFU positions of power and FU positions of power. Make them equal.

Putting them on separate councils or not, it won't matter. The FU are concerned with the advancement of the Sith, becoming the Sith'ari reborn (or some other McGuffin) or some other worthy Sithy goal like being appointed to the high council.

The NFU are concerned with the day to day running of the our Empire. Military exercises, weapon and ship design and production, economic trade lines, day to day crap that most Sith consider beneath them. Army, Navy, Intel, Government, Trade.

Now if we keep the DL, each council or side of the council (NFU/FU) reports to the DL who plays each side off the other. We can't openly strike at the NFU's because of the DL but we don't like how he has favored them. The NFU's don't like that the FU's are like petulant children who would be lost if it weren't for the backbone of the empire, namely them...

See where I'm going with this?

Even if we decide to trash the DL and make it a ruling council of Sith Lords and NFU Ministers, the sides could still stoke that animosity of hating the other part but knowing it is necessary.

The point is that while IC, the FU's might not like the power given to the NFU's, on an OOC level, we're all equal and IC we're locked in a hateful truce.

So, thoughts?

I have pondered about this for the whole day, pretty much.

Y'all know my idea, but let's think on alternatives for a moment.

If we do two separate councils that are equal in authority - one for the NFUs and one for the FUs, I might have an idea on how to make it work without the Dark Lord, considering I want to get rid of him finally.

The two councils have a separate head, that together work together to ensure everything is streamlined.

Kinda like Ancient Rome with the two consuls.

Opinions?

I like your idea.

After thinking, and having some sleep. I think your concept has been the most sound. Personally, as much as I still like Andrew's original concept, I feel like it would end up being too complicated to be interesting. So If we can go with having two separate councils, that'd be perfect.

'Separate but equal," is the way to go!

That's good. Then we need to decide how this is going to play out IC, what positions the councils are made up of and who is going to be on them.

OOC regime changes can be a death knell to a faction if the incoming staff take too long to organize themselves and get story going. We can't let that happen. We need to be decisive here so that we can filter that out to the faction at large.

Or else we risk attrition and a faction who has no confidence in us to keep it going with a head of steam.

I know we have the invasion coming but we can't let everything else go just because of it. The combined Contruum/Balmorra invasion totally stalled out the OS for faction stories and threads at the end of last year. We need to avoid that with Lujo if possible.

Hear, hear.

I personally quite like the Dark Lord. Yet, I recognise the issue of him not being used. Perhaps a council with or without him is a more dynamic way. Also, it would slim down our immense set of titles to something a little more focused.

I agree. We can't let invasions become a distraction, if we try to go in with the, "we must win attitude," then we're just going to stress our members out. So as much as we do need to put some focus on invasions, I do agree that we shouldn't allow them to dictate our roleplay.

It may be a good idea to try and get something going as soon as possible. More importantly, I'd like to see if we can't create a culture of initiative among members to see if people aren't willing to try their hand at leading threads, or just doing their own thing. I know already people do this with dominion and skirmish ideas, but I'd like to see it within faction storylines too!

I think if we're gonna keep the DL, we need to use him. If not, reorganization of the councils work either way.

Alright, does anyone have any ideas that we can use to weave in the Selvaris stuff, the invasion from the GA and reorganization of the Voices/Hands/Eye/Reach into 2 councils that make sense and work? I don't want to risk alienating the current members by completely shoving them out.

Perhaps see how people feel about potentially shifting things up?

Feedback is always good, but I think we should avoid specifying exactly what we're gonna do until we have a clear idea of what direction we're going in. Mainly to avoid any misunderstandings where a few members get upset because they think we're going to alienate them, as you say.

As far as story goes, I'm not rightly sure. It's not a bad idea to try something in the invasion -- as it adds more story to the faction -- but not everyone may be able to participate in it. I'm thinking perhaps we should use the invasion as a way to sow the seeds, and then perhaps launch a followup as a faction thread afterwards.

Yeah I think this is a good way to do it. It'll also help give us some faction threads to follow up the invasion with. Something post battle political, maybe tie into Selvaris. The Wrath and possibly a Hand (Vrag?) are betraying the DL, shakes up the power structure and there is a political upheaval.

Overthrowing the DL doesn't have to mean civil war but maybe a coup. Something where people are dissatisfied with the Dark Lord's complacency. He never fights, just send us to die in his name.

I'm just spitballing here so throw other ideas in if you have them.

If we make the Dark Lord himself seem like a traitor, but reinforce the idea of unity under a single vision. Like... The Dark Lord is an ideal. If the goal of the Sith is to transcend the boundaries of mortality, and be able to eliminate weakness, and bring peace and prosperity through order and perfection... Well, then that'd be a good way to do it.
