Mark Starlighter designed his lightsabers with dual-blade combat in mind. The hilts are encased in songsteel, and have a transparent hilt that shows the energy inside. The hilts have black plates, and the activator button is located on four silver bands located at the half-way point. It also features a slanted, wrap-around guard similar in design to emitter shrouds. The crystals Mark used are white Kyber crystals he found on Ilum during his Gathering, and later added Lignan crystals to increase his blade's power and make it more volatile. It uses a bifurcating cyclic ignition pulse to allow it to perform well underwater. Because of his choice to use songsteel for the hilts, the lightsabers are lighter than they would be if he used durasteel, and are resistant to lightsaber strikes. To prevent other people from using his lightsabers, he attuned them so only he can use them.
