PERSONALITY, STRENGTHS, AND WEAKNESSES:
Martin is a very enigmatic old man, this is obvious from the moment most meet him. He's calm, collected, and set to what he wants. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with others, although this has a tendency to come back and bite him, as seen with most of his apprentices. If you're under his watch, he'll put you above many things, including himself. His selfless nature isn't always in front of you, but he'd be willing to do a lot for those he sees as friends. The best way to describe him would be 'quietly jovial', he finds humor in a lot of minor things, always trying to look on the brightest side, in his own special way. While he can be rocky at first, once you've gotten used to him, you'd find a deeply passionate person. Of course, to most, he can come off as severely nihilistic. His biggest strength would be his observant nature, picking up on most unnoticed things, an ability he often passes onto his students. On the subject of students, he has a unique attunement to the force, being able to feel others like him much easier than most. Sometimes, he can feel someone a planet over. His biggest weakness, however, would be his age. He's not as fast as he used to be, and e can be forgetful. He knows he's not doing well, but he won't just lay down and take it.
FORCE USE, LIGHTSABER COMBAT, AND COMBAT TRIVIA:
FORCE ABILITY-
While Martin's use of the force is not entirely original, it is rarely seen in the galaxy. Likewise, there is the significance he places on absorption-like abilities. Over time, Martin has developed a way of controlling the force of his occupied area with great skill, having greater manipulation over it than other force-sensitive combatants. He primarily uses this ability to either deflect or redirect force attacks, making it so, in his words, "We're brought to the same ground, no fancy tricks, just two duelists and the battle between them." While this power of area manipulation is not entirely restricted to the force, blaster fire is barely affected, only having a minor distortion of the bolt itself. Although, things such as slugs and similar projectile-based weapons are greatly affected, becoming much slower as they draw closer to Martin. This has led to Martin being one of the few lightsaber-wielding individuals capable of completely deflecting shotgun-like weapons.
LIGHTSABER FORM-
Martin is a duelist, first and foremost. As to be expected, much of his technique involves the use of form II, Makashi. Where this alternates is in his use of form III, Soresu, combining its defensive maneuvering and analysis with Makashi's strong focus on singling opponents out. The so-called web which holds these two forms together is Martin's firm emphasis on form VII, Juyo. While he is not as overall aggressive as most Juyo practitioners, Martin offers more than just the physical depletion of the form. Instead, he goes for an attack on the opponent's emotions, choosing to break them down as the fight goes on.
APPEARANCE:
With black, graying hair atop his head and a similarly colored beard, Martin wears a black vest over a navy blue dress shirt. below the waist, are blackish-blue dress pants and dark high-boots. Although it isn't always present, he commonly wears a dark gray robe when out in the field. Clipped to his belt is a lightsaber that glows a wintery white color.
BIOGRAPHY:
Born on Mygeeto, Martin grew up with a rather secretive, isolated family. They were force users. But they were more than force users, they were sith, and they took pride in that. It wasn't a harsh or cruel family though, they loved him. It was a large family, twenty or so members, you see they weren't a real family. His father mother were married, they had him, he was raised into the family.
In his family, he was taught much, Primarily lightsaber dueling as he showed much promise in it. Not to downplay his force ability, but he never showed much interest in any of those facets of his teaching.
Now, Martin always believed that sith got a bad wrap. They weren't always bad, although he knew it was common, some were quite nice. This ideal of his had been given early in life, told to him by his father. You see, the family he was a part of had a very simple way of life, a way of life they called 'The Calling Of Vectivus'. It had one rule, and one rule only. You will live in the dark side of the force but not indulge in it, like so many before you.
That is the life that the entire family kept to. It would be stupid to think that everyone had strong enough will to stave off the desire for long, but those incidents were taken care of and the family was stronger for it. When Martin reach his prime age, twenty or so, he left his family. With kisses and loving hugs, they waved him off, in hopes that he'd do well in the galaxy. Then came the dark times.
So many apprentices, so many people he tried to teach his way to, but none prevailed. Over and over he tried, every five years or so he'd find someone gifted enough, like him, to learn the dark side of the force but not to be corrupted by it, but to let it flow through you. They all betrayed, one after the other, but they would all fall. There was no point trying, he thought. If he was just going to keep failing and keep killing promising students, then he'd be better off gone.
Then, just like that, the rumors and stories of the force master who traveled the outer rim slowly went into obscurity, becoming a myth and bedtime stories.
