Masamune is private non-profit organization that produces a range of Force-imbued items ranging from trinkets to capital grade weapon systems. The firm's name originates from a vessel of the same name, a refurbished factory ship on loan from the Kiribian Spacy. As a Jedi owned organization, Masamune is very selective in accepting clientele, usually limiting its services to individuals of good legal and moral standing, and light or neutral organizations. Surplus revenue from sales and royalties go right into the firm for research and expansion, and towards various charities and educational foundations.
The firm began as little more than a series side projects of the Jedi Arisa Yune, who had begun experimenting with the arts of Force imbuement and alchemy during her Padawan days at the Coruscant Temple. Back then, it was little more than an exercise of curiosity, but the aspiring engineer began to see some practical applications for the uses of these techniques in fabricating items, creating exotic weapons and armor with superior performance to their conventional counterparts.
Her burgeoning skills with Force Imbuement would attract the attention of Sasori, a massive Jedi-owned conglomerate at the forefront of modern alchemical productions. For years, she would offer her services as a consultant until a disagreement with some of Sasori's business practices made her take a step back from working with the organization.
Wishing to provide her services with a more humane business model in line with her values as a Jedi, she struck out on her own to create a non-profit organization as an alternative for her fellow Jedi and others in need of defenses against hostile Force Adepts.
RATIONALE
Masamune is wholly owned by Arisa Yune, who operates the manufacturing firm as a private non-profit organization. Much of the initial seed money for its creation came from Arisa herself by means of several royalties acquired from licensing out designs of inventions such as the Rescue Pod. The remainder of funding would come from a mix of private donors and endowments from the federal government of the KSU.
