Speaks his mind and keeps things short (+/-) Masaru isn’t a talker but will say what he believes needs to be said. He’s not a man of politics and doesn’t bite his tongue.
Prideful (-) Believes that he must prove that he is a strong warrior to others sometimes, which his opponents can take advantage of if they know he’s a prideful man.
Awkward (-) When in situations that require more social skills, Masaru can seem awkward to others. If it’s not stories of triumph or talk of fighting prowess, Masaru can be an embarrassing mess. It isn’t for a lack of trying since Masaru does his best when in these situations, he just isn’t the social type. He’s a man of action, not of words.
No holding back (-) Masaru has trouble holding back in battle, which makes it difficult when he isn’t trying to seriously harm a person.
When Masaru turned 16, he started to use his training to help his father’s band of mercenaries. Being trained by the best has its advantages, allowing Masaru to lead his own crew on contracts that were taken by his father. However, as good as Masaru was in battle, his leadership skills weren’t as great. The only thing in his mind was getting the objective done and using his strength to find others who could match him. This lead to the loss of crew members and the wrath of Gregor coming down on his son. Masaru lost his privileges until further noticed.
Masaru eventually learned his lesson and the guilt of his mistakes have followed him ever since. Masaru is still the man he was before, a warrior who wants to test his skills. Now however, he understands the value of putting his crew first and the value of keeping casualties to a minimum. He doesn’t consider himself a leader but knows what it takes to be one.
At the age of 20, Masaru was back in action. The small band of mercenaries had grown and the contracts they took on were bigger. Things were changing though. To be more specific, Masaru’s father was changing. The contracts that Gregor refrained from taking in the past were starting to become the norm in their work, the casualties began to increase, and the lives of the innocent weren’t a concern to Gregor anymore. Masaru didn’t know what happened to his father, but he knew it wasn’t right. The last straw was when Gregor took a job that required the destruction of a family by their hands. Most of the crew was onboard because of the pay, which made Masaru realize that the crew wasn’t of the same cloth as they were before. Masaru led those that weren’t onboard with Gregor’s change of morals, creating an intense battle between the two sides. Many lives were lost, and Masaru’s team were going to lose if the battle continued for too long. Masaru carved a path directly to his father and tried to figure out what happened to him. Masaru didn’t have any success, which meant the two had to fight to find out who’s will would come out on top. All seemed to be lost, but Masaru was able to deal two serious blows on his father, crippling him. With the head of the snake cut off, the contract was voided and many of Gregor’s followers scattered. Masaru decided to destroy their base of operation, leaving the mercenary groups history as just that, history. His father was to perish within the building, wanting to remember his father as who he used to be instead of what he had become. Masaru never went back to see if his father had indeed fell with the base.
With so many losses, Masaru felt as though it was time for him to go solo. He took jobs every now and then, making a living for himself. He continued to travel from planet to planet to not only find good contracts but also to improve his skills. The search for strong opponents was always on his mind, which led him to fight renown bounty hunters, skilled soldiers, and powerful gladiators. Masaru has even gone toe-to-toe with a few Jedi and Sith but hasn’t been able to defeat many. He fights to prove himself, fights to survive, and fights to defend others. Masaru has gotten out of life threating situations and has had duals with those that would test him, all to make himself a better warrior.
Masaru has been going this route for 10 years, capturing those who need to be captured, defeating those who test his strength, and putting down the ones that try to take his life from him. Masaru Varga is a warrior, and that’s where his path will continue to lead him.
