Appearance: Kol is a human male of average height and athletic build, standing about 1.8 meters tall and weighing around 80 kilograms. Kol has a strong jawline, stern facial features, and lacks laugh lines, leading to rumors he has never smiled. He has short dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes, and fair skin. The Jedi Master wears traditional Jedi robes of tan and brown over a thinsuit most of the time, only opting to wear his Jedi battle armor when he knows he is going into a high risk situation or pitched battle.

In melee Master Kol is knowledgeable in the first five of the Classical Lightsaber styles: Shii-Cho, Makashi, Soresu, Ataru, and Shien; as well as the New Jedi Order Fast, Medium, and Strong styles. He normally prefers either Soresu or Medium style in combat, combining his use of a defensive use Lightsaber with his offensive Force abilities to see him through a conflict.
Personality: Kol has a dour demeanor, rumored to have never genuinely laughed, remains cold, collected, and stern even around other Jedi and people he considers close friends. The Jedi is confident, rarely seen meditating about the uncertain future, remaining focused and direct. He can be blunt, to the point it can be misconstrued as rudeness. Despite this, Kol is willing to advise or provide counsel to those who seek it from him, choosing to guide others in a manner that allows them to choose their path for themselves.

Weapon of Choice: Lightsaber | The Force
Combat Function: Kol Varon modeled his skills and training off those of the ancient version of Luke Skywalker’s New Jedi Order, learning a large number of supporting and utility Force techniques rather than displays of power and might. Kol is skilled in a number of abilities, but isn’t awe-inspiring with any of them, choosing the Jack of all Trades route.
His skills with a Lightsaber allow him to function in part as a duelist or against a number of enemies, preferring the defensive Soresu form to wait out and tire an opponent into exposing themselves, using well-placed minor telekinetic pushes and deflecting blaster bolts, rather than battering through his opponent’s defense.
In a Starfighter Master Varon is skilled but not exceptional by Jedi standards, able to use the Force to provide an advantage in his reaction time, the ability to perceive danger without the use of scanners or sensors, and the ability to target accurately without the need for computer assistance making him a lethal pilot, though he is not a Jedi Ace.
As an officer Kol is capable, but prefers to operate alone or attached to an existing command structure which he can compliment as he see’s fit. He is not a true battlefield commander, nor is he capable of battle meditation which limits his strategic ability while his skills make him a much more valuable tactical asset.
Unfortunately, his broad skill set means he is not exceptional in any given field and so knights with certain specialties are very likely to out preform him in their fields of study, and his lack of exotic studies leaves him exposed to many of the Fringe Force cults, aware of their existence in the most limited sense. Kol is also very confident in himself, and not without good reason, however this can mean he will engage clearly superior foes without backup and is unlikely to request backup, especially not from subordinates or less experienced Jedi.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Kol Varon’s childhood was lost in one of the many recent purges of the Jedi and the destruction of numerous Temples. All that is known for certain was that he was recruited by the Jedi Order at a very young age. Raised by the Order rather, Kol was brought up during a time when the Jedi Order placed emphasis on learning through experience rather than formal classes which allowed students to develop their own approach to the Force. Kol developed a strong independent streak, stubborn and detached from his fellow Jedi.
Even as a padawan Kol was reportedly stern and cold, not to the point of darkness but seemingly unattached to anyone or anything in particular besides his responsibility as a Jedi. Kol grew into the traditional style of Jedi Knighthood, subscribing to the concept of the Living Force rather than mediating on the Force or the portents of the Future, and grew as a warrior-monk with a grim outlook on the galaxy and its citizens. It was not that he only saw the worst in the living beings of the galaxy, only that he saw the galaxy as an almost sentient entity intent on breaking the wills of each and every other being. As though the universe either broke them or killed them, no one escaped alive.
During the formation of the Galactic Alliance, Kol Varon was one of many Jedi that assisted in their war against the One Sith though he did not openly join the New Jedi Order. Instead he maintained a connection with the Jedi Enclaves on Alderaan, operating alongside the NJO during the war as a warrior. When the One Sith were broken, Kol returned to the Jedi Enclave and was promoted to the rank of Master, serving the small enclave as one of their more experienced Jedi warriors and serving at the convenience of the Monarchy when called upon.
