Master Vote - Elpsis Elaris (Masters Only)

I present before you [member="Elpsis Elaris"], the daughter of [member="Coryth Elaris"] and pyromancer extraordinaire. Her thread tracker is here, and I feel she is more than qualified for the rank of Master. She has progressed strongly from an uncertain outcast Jedi into a capable and talented young woman. Her skills with fire are matched only by her dedication and courage.

Please cast your votes, and if the vote is no please provide constructive criticism.

List of SSC and affiliate masters. Apologies if I missed anyone.

I view it as an important part of her personal journey, though by no means the finale. Masterhood is another step, but definitely not the end. More like the beginning of a new phase.

One important aspect about Elpsis is that, unlike my other Force-users, for a long time she wanted nothing to do with the Force. This ties in with her father being an evil Sith Lord. Though he was dead by the time I started writing her, his shadow always loomed large over her, until she managed to banish his spectre during her duel with Raien Keth.

So one important step for her has been acceptance. Acceptance that using the Force will not turn her evil unless she chooses it, acceptance that while her father was a monster she can do good even though she did bad stuff while she was a criminal, and finally acceptance of her mother, whom she erroneously believed abandoned her for convenience, when in fact things were very traumatic for Coryth and her life was hell, too.

Elpsis ran away from the Jedi as a child, but now she's home at last. She's transitioned from a scared girl lashing out at the world in anger into a woman who, though she has a degree of immaturity, is confident, compassionate and brave. Being acknowledged as a Master would mean to her that she finally did it. She's by no means flawless because perfect characters are dull. For one, she's coarse, has a mean temper and is intolerant of anything Jedi.

Will masterhood drastically change her behaviour? Probably not. Elpsis sees herself as a 'normal girl who can do some fancy stuff other people can't, but not better than normal people without superpowers. That sets her apart from say Siobhan, who has an ego the size of the death star, and Sumiko, who's a Forcer Supremacist. I see her maturing and taking more responsibility in the Fire Order, now that she's found a Forcer group that fits her. Aside from the Keth duel, I believe her development is best shown in the Corellia skirmish, the interview thread about her opinion on Force-user cultures and her private threads with Laina Silvias and Tegaea, not to mention the reconciliation with Coryth.

She won't suddenly get a massive power boost. Regardless of whether she gets the rank or not, I plan on developing her abilities as a prophetess more as she gains more control over her farsight. That'll tie in with her quest to help people in need and probably result in her becoming a more spiritual person, which separates her from my other Masters since they're largely atheists. I don't intend for farsight to be a metagamey tool for invasions, but something for char development.

Unfortunately, since work (and now I have learned will have more hours instead of less) I will have to put Abaigeal away for a while until I know what my availability will be. Her and a couple of others I am afraid. :(
