Intent: To create a cybernetic replacement for the arm Matsu lost in the OS Invasion of Manaan, and replace her previous cybernetic with a superior model with retractable claws to fit her combat style.
Development Thread: Phrik Acquisition
Manufacturer: Neuro-Saav Corporation
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Personal
Modularity: Minor, aesthetic & repairs.
Production: Unique
Material: Hybrid Plexisteel (composes the bulk of the arm from hand to mid-bicep), Phrik (composes claws & threaded finely through both arms)

The x-ray above is a rough approximation of the way the mechanism for retracting the claws works. Minus the bone, the visual below is perfect, showing the openings through which the claws move outside the arm, and how they appear when retracted within the cybernetic.

Description: Matsu lost her remaining arm in the Invasion of Manaan in a duel with Aaralyn Rekali, and it was then she decided she was a little sick of losing limbs. After receiving medical attention and being stabilized aboard the One Sith’s ships she set out to have a replacement made for the second time in her life, the first being ten years prior when she lost most of her left arm. However this time she would design her own with the help of the genius minds of Neuro-Saav Corporation, and have her old cybernetic removed to replace it with the new model as well.

Comprised mainly of hybrid plexisteel heated and reheated until black, the new models are lightweight and strong. Further enhancements were made with the addition of phrik Matsu had obtained with Reverance on Val’hala several months prior. Hidden within the palm, wrist, and forearm of each arm are impressive plexisteel rigs designed to support and retract five inch claws made entirely of phrik (see x-rays). The mechanism is programmed to respond to neural signals just as when she moves any other part of her arm. The rig for the claws is thin and flexible and lies in the upper half of the forearm, sitting slightly above where the radius & ulna would be in a regular arm. At the wrist the rig moves downwards slightly, allowing the claws to move within channels in the hands and fingers. This has the duel effect of added protection for more delicate mechanisms as the claws and rig are placed in a more protected position within the bulk of the hand (as opposed to separate, slightly above or below), and also allows the hands to appear as delicate and dexterous as the ones she was born with when the claws are retracted back in to the arm. Neuro-Saav metallurgists also saw fit to have the remaining phrik smelted and made fine, threading it through the plexisteel to make the cybernetics more resistant to damage.

The strengths of the replacements are obvious: both metals are lightweight, allowing Matsu to remain quick in combat – an improvement on her previous cybernetic. The addition of phrik made the arms highly resistant (though of course not immune) to both lightsabers and blaster fire, while making the retractable claws extremely tough. The claws themselves are dangerous, dagger-like projections capable of cleaving easily through flesh and puncturing lesser metals.

However they are not without their drawbacks. As with most cybernetics the arms were susceptible to weapons utilizing electricity or force-powers such as Sith Lightning and Electric Judgment and making it impossible for Matsu to use Lightning herself. Minor hits would result in temporary loss of function – prolonged exposure would fry circuits and leave her dead in the water without repairs. In addition the mechanism controlling the claws is delicate. While the material of the arm provides adequate protection from lightsabers and blasters, sufficient blunt force trauma to the top of her wrist – or slightly more force from underneath – could break the mechanism controlling the claws. This would take a direct or very powerful hit to the area, but the concept is the same as the relatively easily breakable bones of the wrist. Lastly the phrik threaded through the arms is purposely fine to allow for ease of movement and naturally does not cover every square inch – enough hits in one general area or a VERY precise/lucky stab and damage can be done, compromising the functionality of said arm.

Overall, while not without their drawbacks, her replacement arms were extremely durable and light with the dangerous addition of claws to suit her hand-to-hand combat style.
