Minor changes in the teachings of the Matukai have also brought about the learning of single-handed weapons, though the standard fighting style incorporates polearms. They have recognized that some situations call for smaller weapons. That said, rather than carrying a veritable arsenal of weapons, they've created a collapsible staff capable of having weapons fitted into the ends to create a polearm. This allows their smaller bladed weapons to become the polearm they're used to fighting with.
