Question-there is no mention/name for the species that Maz Kanata hails from. I'd like to utilise a character that is based on the same species. Any suggestions/thoughts? Or just not bother mentioning it?

... In the reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary released in 2019, Maz Kanata's species is stated as unknown. However, in the Japanese version of the same book, it is identified as "ギルブロジアン". This could be transcribed into English as Gilbrogian, but is uncertain.

It's probably in the same vein as Yoda's species. So you can either go the route of Maz Kanata's Species or, seeing as she's from Takodana, give the species a name like Takodanian maybe? Or as Caltin said - the Japanese translation of Gilbrogian.

Safest would probably either be the former or the latter instead of making something new.
