Description: Based on the centuries old Mon Calamari Triple Redundancy Shielding, the new generation of shield projectors produced by the engineers at the Mon Calamari Shipyards are revolutionary and very advanced systems. The flagship of the new Delphus shielding systems is the quad redundancy MC1010. It utilizes a total of ten shield projectors working in concert to provide five layers of sheilding.
The Shielding starts with the main Shield projector array. This is housed in the central cage of the Generator. This projector provides four hundred SBD of standard single layer protection over a three hundred meter radius. This main layer projector includes protection from various sources of damaging effects by incorporating a series of special projector arrays. A ray shield array protects from energy based weapons and spacial effects. A particle shield array protects from kinetic weapons which fire projectiles and from space debris and solid matter. A relativistic shield array is included to protect from temporal effects. a rad-dampening shield array protects from harmful radiation from weapons and spacial anomalies. An atmospheric-friction shield array to protect the ship from entering and exiting a planets atmosphere. An ion shield array protects from harmful ionic interference such as Ion storms and Ion Cannon fire.
Advanced dedicated capacitance systems aid in providing the constant power the projector needs. Power loop capacitors direct power from the vessels reactors core boosting the shield arrays power which is then supercharged by Capacitor Overchargers that store the power in dedicated Capacitor Banks built into the base of the projector. This power is then distributed to all ten of the systems projectors by redundant Power Cables, giving them the constant power needed for peak operational defense. Redundant Cooling Cables are ran throughout the system maintaining optional temperature around the capacitance and electrical systems.
Around the main shield projector are eight double strobe shield projectors. These projectors each contain a Ray and Particle shield array adding further protection from energy and kinetic damage. Each of the eight projectors work in set of two projectors which modulate the shield harmonics. This alternating frequency shielding provide the four redundant layers. The total output of these shield projectors is less than the main projector usually projecting a bubble of one hundred SBD over the same three hundred meters. These projectors are equipped with lateral control systems which allow the projectors to focus their shielding into one arc rather than a bubble. This can increase the defensive power by two hundred SBD into the focused shield arc.
A tenth smaller projector is built into the base of the structure, below the main projector, which emits a smaller field which offers the projector itself its own shielding. The field only extends out around the projector and offers no protection to the vessel outside defense for the projector.
These projectors are built into their own alusteel armored encasement and installed inside the vessel and its protective armor plating. Each projector covers a defined shield zone which generally encompasses two hundred meters. This allows for further protection but overlapping the shield bubbles on the outer reaches of the projectors limits. Projectors flanking a single projector can focus their projection zones to aid that projector if needed. This in theory adds a sixth layer of protection over sections of the vessel when needed. This however leave the adjacent projectors supplying the additional coverage fewer layers.
Strengths:
* Very Formidable Defense - The system offers unsurpassed defense for starships
Weaknesses:
* Very Expensive - the system is very expensive to build and install. Therefor it is limited to only Mon Calamari built military vessels.
* Difficult To Repair - The system is very complex and full of redundant systems. While this aids in keeping it working far longer than other systems once damages the ship must be docked in a certified Mon Calamari Shipyards Slip for repairs.
* Power Consumption - Due to operational power requirements, vessels utilizing the Delphus shield system require power normally dedicated for weapons. This limits the offensive capabilities of the ship slightly. (Takes up 4 capital guns each for gun consolidation.)
