Description:
The MC1031 Broadfin-class is a very large Heavy Proton Torpedo which is only capable of being launched from the MCS Sea Hawk-class Heavy Torpedo launcher. The Broadfin torpedo utilizes three separate Baradium explosive charges to create a ripple of high energy explosions. The first baradium charge is located in the nose. This charge is triggered on impact by a pressure sensor attached tot he warheads tip. This triggers the first charge by signaling the proton detonator which then starts the ripple effect. The signal is then sent on the transmission bus line to the second and third proton detonators which ignite their baradium charge. The result is a ripple of three explosive reactions which cause damage by heat and kinetic energy. The resulting explosive charge splashes over a fifty-meter area causing reducing damage over this area, from the initial point of impact.
The body of the torpedo is made of high grade durasteel with Agrinium plating and an Ablative heatshield coating. This protects the warhead from extreme heat applied on it from atmospheric reentry and offers some protection from small arms and light energy weapons for a short period of time.
