ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Defenses
Strengths:
MC90 Valiant-type Star Cruiser, the baseline for the New Republic Fleet and one of the mainstay vessels of the Galactic Alliance fleet from before the Four Hundred Year Darkness. The MC90/B is the Resistance’s attempt to construct a purpose built heavy command cruiser and defensive lynch-pin to be the centerpiece in some of its larger, better funded Fleets. Very few were ever constructed and given to the Resistance, and rarely more than one vessel of the type is in the same region of space.
Constructed alongside the Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corp, the Resistance was able to put together only a handful of these vessels in short order to take to the fleet from Mon Calamari. Designed alongside human engineers from the fledgling Resistance, the MC90’s interior greatly resembles the previous MC90 of antiquity in that it has been constructed with non-Mon Calamari crew in mind, providing quarters and ergonomic controls and machinery for more human crewmen.
Its technical systems and formats are modernized to current technological standards and able to be rapidly and easily updated as standards change to increase the operational life span of the class. Featuring standardized sensor equipment, targeting systems, and other computer securities, the type is a work horse lacking a large amount of specialized equipment.
Defensively, the MC90/B varies greatly from ancient designs from Mon Calamari, utilizing a Damage Reduction shield and armor component rather than hard-shell shielding of older designs. Using a Charged Plating shield over an AR-0B armor component are designed to reduce the effectiveness of enemy firepower striking the hull. Unique to the Valiant, its armor is composed of Laminanium, commonly referred to as a 'self-healing' metal is capable of recovering from damage to the hull. This is combined with other self-repair systems allow the vessel to recover damaged systems in relatively short order. Unfortunately the multitude of Laminanium ingots required do limit the amount of damage that can be healed at a single point. CIWS and a wide array of Point-Defense Laser Cannons provide overlapping fields of defensive fire to defend it from starfighters and missile weaponry. Offensively however it relies on batteries of turbolasers and heavy ion cannons to destroy and cripple enemy vessels, supported by a pair of powerful Shield Leech weapons which are used to draw energy away from an enemy vessel to cycle into the defenses of the Valiant, furthering its endurance in battle.
The MC90/B has been refitted to include a Power Converter in order to readjust its offensive, defensive, or engine units to provide the vessel with greater versatility and flexibility in combat. As an additional system in order to increase its use as long term operation stand alone vessel, resupply ships, and small scale fleet tenders it includes a Molecular Furnace and Solid Fuel Converter connected to its waste and recycling facilities to provide the ship with access to limited raw materials.

Strengths:
- It Will Not Die!: The MC90/B has been built with a self-repairing Laminanium Hull combined with Damage reduction armor and Charged hull shielding to provide the vessel with a durable, consistent defense. Its shields and armor considerably reduce the effectiveness of enemy weaponry allowing the vessel to survive strikes from vessels well above its weight class, and subsequently repair the damage caused by those strikes.
- Power Converter: The new models now include Power Converters and a small reserve Power Generator, which allows them to boost one of their combat systems in battle, or assist with a rapid startup sequence.
- Command Ship: The MC90/B was purpose built to be lead ships of Resistance Fleet Task Forces, fitted with proper communication and tactical analysis systems making it more than capable of assisting with fleet and operation coordination.
- Finally: Rather than attempting to use a single massive laminanium ingot, the Valiant-type uses many localized ones which can only recover the hull a few times before exhausting themselves and requiring replacement. Furthermore, only the Hull is repaired in this way; interior damage to the ship has to be fixed normally.
- Unassigned Energy: In combat, the reserve power must be assigned by the crew or droid or it is not utilized or directed. This means when ambushed by enemy craft, the vessel is not able to perform at its full potential for a time.
- One System at a Time: The cruiser’s power converter can only direct its reserve power to a single combat system at a time, taking several moments to stop the flow of energy to one system, redirect it, and begin the flow of energy to the next system.
