Description:
The Ardent-class is the sister to the Valiant-class escort and is more closely evolved from the original MC40a-class. The ardent-class is more of a heavy hitting second line vessel used for defense of low priority instiations and worlds. He hanger has been removed to make way for capacitor and power systems to feed the heavier weapons load. Defensively there is no differance in the Ardent-class and the Valiant-class. Both utilize the same frame, armor, and shielding for defense. Both have identacal systems for targeting tracking and communications.
The offensive weapon load is greatly increased over its sister class. Two additional turbolaser batteries have been installed on the vessels forward dorsal hull firing into the forward and broadside arcs. Two ion batteries have been installed adjacent to the existing turbolaser batteries firing into the forward broadside and aft arcs. Two heavy projectile launchers have been installed on the prow firing into the forward arc only. This launcher can fire a variety of heavy warhead tipped projectiles. Defensive weapon systems have been reduced from her sister class only retaining the heavy defensive batteries. This reduces the anti-projectile capabilities but retains its defensive capabilities against attack craft and corvette class vessels at close ranges.
