Weaknesses:

• Low sublight speed - The size and mass of the class requires massive amounts of force to overcome making the class slow to accelerate.
• Low maneuverability - Like the propulsion the maneuvering systems of the massive class are slow to counter its inertia making its slow to maneuver.
• Low hanger capacity - designed as a command vessel the need for onboard attack craft was low priority. The design is meant to work with other vessels in groups which will contain other better suited carrier type vessels.

Description:

Independence and her sisters utilize a uniform Mon Calamari design type: cylindrical hulls, with a tapered bow, hangar-bays amidships, and bulbous stern mounting ten huge sublight thrusters. The standard crew of the Independence-class consisted of 15,400 officers and crew and up to 1,200 non-military passengers and guests when needed. Independence-class ships appeared to have multiple command pods scattered across each ship, protruding from both the dorsal and ventral areas of the hull. One of these served as the command center for the ship. The largest of these pods can separate and act on its own when the vessel is in danger of catastrophic destruction or to act as a landing platform for assault and political envoy missions. The commanding officer could be situated in a chair attached to a swiveling robotic arm that overlooked both the bridge crew as well as a panoramic window out into space. Lower in the central hull the CIC "combat information center" is equipped with multiple holo-projectors, large video displays and a central large holographic table situated in the middle of a briefing room section. All of which aide crew members in monitoring in real time during a battle.
