STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Through the Looking Glass
    • Scorpio cruisers are equipped with a single, nose mounted MAC-818 cannon that's installed along their center line. Using this massive weapon, MDC-100 cruisers can sit far behind the front lines and pick off key targets like carriers, other backline cruisers, cargo and fuel ships, command/control ships, orbital stations, and other kinds of support ships/installments. If necessary, these weapons can be used to perform precise orbital bombardments, though the yeild does not lend itself to destruction on a massive scale
  • Screening
    • The Scorpio carries decent point defense options, but when combined with a dedicated picket ship squadron and high volume fighters in their Ashwing drones, the Scorpio does a good job of keeping itself safe from missiles and brave starfighters
  • Piloting Options
    • MDC-100 cruisers are equipped with both SLAM and SUPER-9 systems, giving pilots various options in how they wish to take any engagement
WEAKNESSES
  • Sunderer
    • The majority of these ship's firepower comes from their massive MAC-818 cannon. Should these weapons be rendered inoperable, the damage output of Scorpio cruisers drop drastically
  • Soft Spot
    • With the Sunder cannon taking up a large amount of space, defensive options needed to be cut in order to keep cost down. These ships have decent armor, but only basic deflector shielding, meaning they can't take as much punishment as some counterparts in their class. They rely on distance and positioning to avoid taking fire.
  • Specialized
    • These ships are very specialized, meaning that they really are only useful as a dedicated backline cruiser. Scorpio ships would struggle to perform their desired task in fleet compositions that rely on versatile ships.
DESCRIPTION

Literally constructed around their main weapon, the Scorpio is a very effective specialist ship. It's primary objective is to sit far behind the front lines, perhaps among the carriers or with a frigate escort, and destroy key targets from ranges and positions where return fire is impossible or ineffective. They perform this role exceptionally well, as their MAC-818 Sunder cannons can lob armor piercing shells through almost any kind of ship. A thick fighter/drone screen keeps these ships safe from probing corvettes or starfighters, and a limited number of high power megamasers and turbolasers can deter larger ships long enough for the Scorpio to bring its main cannon to bear. The MDC-100 is a prime choice for those looking to add range and firepower to their fleet, and it also serves as an excellent command platform for any captains who like to survey the battle from afar.
