The Mecrosa Order was first established over 5,000 years ago, a project of House Mecetti to foster a group of Dark Side assassins loyal to House interests. Upon joining the Restored Republic, and later the Galactic Alliance, there was increased scrutiny over Sith related artifacts and Dark side practices. As such, the order was disbanded and forgotten for a time. Four generations ago, this began to be seen as a mistake, and House Mecetti once more tracked its citizens for force-sensitivity while doing their best to discourage that information falling into the hands of the Jedi order.
The promotion of particular marriages enhanced the likelihood of Force Sensitivity in certain trusted bloodlines, until the point where the Mecrosa Order of Dark Side Assassins could be re-constituted in the modern day. This reconstitution was aided by

who offered to convey Dark Side techniques to the young hopefuls selected for this assignment.To ensure loyalty, each member of the Mecrosa Order is given a 'vaccination' which contains one-half of a binary poison variant of Fex-M3. It bonds permanently to their nervous systems. The second half of the poison is a rare, flavorless, odorless, and generally non-harmful chemical known as Themfar which can be delivered by inhalation, ingestion, dermal contact, or injection. This activation chemical is harmless... unless one has already been exposed to the primary poison. Once activated by the chemical, the poison will kill the agent within an hour's time in a particularly painful neural degenerative episode. The agonizing death might be prevented if the victim has immediate access to a modern hospital and the cause of the issue is known.
This is only a failsafe, however.
The agents of the Mecrosa Order are those with 'trusted status' before being inducted into the Order, from families which have connections to the nobility and have served loyally for at least two generations. Mecrosa Order agents are taught to be undercover assassins who can integrate themselves into any environment and carry out surprise attacks on enemies of the state.
Within the Order, there are a limited number of assault forces known as the 'Upsilon Assault Force' who are given additional training. These operatives are trained for covert missions expected to involve both starfighter combat and ground combat, not simple assassinations. The Upsilon operatives are trained as elite pilots and special operations troops, allowing them to fly in to a target area, disembark, take out targets, and then depart. The Upsilon Assault Force are few in number, but supremely trained and effective in highly targeted combat operations where they can appear, blow something up, and disappear. Sometimes, they will be given special missions within an ordinary Mecetti House Guard army or navy operation of large size when critical objectives must be achieved at all costs.
