Meeting in Odd Places

[member="Kei Amadis"] [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] [member="Razer Sin"]

Shakk was heading to Yavin IV on request of her father. Caluula was one of the few planet her father guild had influence on, also the location of some of the busiest refugee camps in the outer rim. Located near to two of the busiest space lanes in the galaxy. Her father was able to get her crew and their ship to resupply at the camps and medical center.

As her crew loaded the supplys and money that he gave her she wanted to go shopping at the local space port bazar and market. She walked through the market as she looked through cloths and food that they could cook later on. Dino and Strew, soldiers of her crew, were always looking for new meals she cooked.

As she looked through the market, she felt a sensation under her skin. She wished she could understand the force because these odd feeling were really confusing to her.

A grizzled large Epicanthx, wearing his usual combat deep green fatigues, black boots, holotags, and carrying his saber unity obviously on display, one Kei Amadis, was standing haggling with a shop keeper about the price of supplies for his own crew, haggling loudly at this point. Little to no money left, so many wanting food to eat, and wounded, left him with little to no options when it came to paying. Their discussion was getting heated, just because he needed this food, not wanted it, had to have it. What was left of the support ships had all but run dry, and here he was facing some greedy merchant who wouldn’t cut him a break, if he paid more, then bang there went the medical supplies.

“That’s all I have.” Kei remarked crossing his arms. He wasn’t what you’d call a skilled negotiator, by any stretch.

“Well it’s not enough, you can surely see your way to twenty percent more, you do need these supplies right?” A shrewd rodian mechant knew just how badly Kei wanted this, he could tell.

“It’s worth what I’m paying, that’s what I’ll pay.” Kei wouldn’t use mind tricks on people even if he had been taught how, nobody could read his race, and he wasn’t that kind of Jedi either. He was however struggling to not just walk off. Breathing deep of the force, he let it out, letting the frustration go. Rubbing the bridge of his nose he resigned himself this wasn't going anywhere. "We'll be here for another day."

Bump, walking straight into Shakk clumsily, he immediately stopped holding his hands up. "Sorry, my fault." Somedays you just got a feeling as Jedi, and you went with it, "You selling any food?" His voice had a hint of urgency to it.

sanya's ship docked at the Bazar Port on yavin IV the refuge camps where not far. The order had sent her to help out in the camps with medical duties. As she strolled through the market she could feel two slight presents in the force, she couldn't determine who or where they was but it was clearly there, but one of them felt strange but not sith. she past each stall at a slow pace, her sabers where easily seen on her waist, looking at what goods where been sold as she has almost ran out of some supplies, it was also a good chance to do some marketing.

she came to a food stall to find things to treat/bribe the younger patients, when she approached the was already two people there, a young man and woman, the man was arguing with she stall keeper about his extortionate prices. With limited resources it was expected for this kind of thing to happen. the man spun around bumping quite hard in to the woman, Sanya rushed over to find out if she was okay.

she got closer seeing the lightsabers on the guys belt she could feel his force signature better 'huh another Jedi, quite a rude one to be fair'. Sanya walked over to the girl "hey are you okay?" she turned her head to the other Jedi. "you should have better attention than that, you could really hurt someone." her voice seemed calm but serious.

She wasn't paying attention, the vibration was becoming stronger and distracted her. She took a few steps then bumped into another man, he was tall and seemed very battle worn. She had meet many soldiers back at the Station, both republic, Sith and Mandalorian. He seemed more republic to her, the quick glimps of the Holo-tags gave it away. She was puched back a few steps and was able to regain her balance. As the man apologied, she accepted it, she was distracted as well. Then he was asking for food, this was odd to her, she though soldiers were feed by the military.

Her father raised her to help, but before she could say something another young women appeared. The vibration became more irritating, still not hurting, just having a presents. "It's quite alright, it was my fault, I wasn't paying attention," she opened her ouch caring her credits, she was just transferred a large amount from her father, for supplies and fuel, also for her young intentions of buying cloths. "I'm not selling food, but let me buy you some as an apologies, again I'm just distracted at the moment, so forgive my clumsiness."

Kei nodded, he was strung out, no doubt, stressed and wearing that expression as much as his clothes. “Thanks,” he immediately appreciated how she handled herself, she could have made a scene, or shoved him back, but she was calm and more than that, offered to help. Giving her a long look to make sure Shakk was fine, Kei glanced about to be sure of himself too, always aware of his surroundings, always expecting an ambush, even here.

Someone caring enough to stop and stand up for someone else, nice to see, from both of them “Force of habit,” Kei said to Sanya, when you had feet his size, he didn’t rate high marks in any dance class, most of his training had been to stay alive rather than on subtleties, from a different time of upheaval. “Apologies.” Said to them both, short and sweet, but he meant it, he didn’t stand on ceremony but meant every word he said.

The Epicanthx's holotags were old now, like they once were republic, but not standard issue anymore, still proudly displayed. His ship and fading fleet had been out of contact for a long while since the Sith skirmishes and upheaval of past events. His aura would likely carry that, as would his slightly out of place look to anyone really looking, and his tension. When Shakk offered to pay, he held up a large hand again, “No miss, can’t accept that, thanks all the same.” Actually he really could, and should, but stubbornness got in the way. In the end he might have to ask for charity, because his favors were all used up.

Kei looked up, clicked his neck, rubbing the back of it, no need to tap their aura much, he could see already they were good people, not Sith, and if they’d wanted to shoot at him they would have been doing already. Still he was never relaxed, as a soldier after a while, you didn’t really settle, not the same way. Not when you had a bounty the size of a small moon and a few people gunning for you personally.

"You both locals?" Might as well make casual conversation, while he waited for the Rodian to change his mind, or lightening to strike, whichever came first.

"N-No, I'm passing through here," she realized the man was quite adequate in size and her ability to talk was slipping. Unknowingly she could talk to anyone, but the second she figures they are people she frezzes. It wasn't that she didn't like people, just that she feared people not liking her. She has never remembered people being mean to her but she always felt she was too small for this large galaxy.

"I-If you need help with something," she offered looking at the mans boots. His face wasn't scare, slightly intimidating, but seemed generally worried about her. "I'm really sorry, at least," she closed her eyes to allow her to concentrate on the words, "at least let me buy you coffee at the local cafe?"

She looked over at [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] and trying her best to look at her face but only goin as far as seeing her chin. "As thanks for helping me, you can come along too, but if you can't I understand."

This was terrifying, why was this soo worriesome. She knew this would make her body guards angry, but they wandered to her father who answered to her, cuz he weak to her cuteness. Yet the ability to stand up to a 6 foot 7 inches Mandalorian was easy compared to speaking with two strangers.

Going to keep us going as I know you are new, and don't want us to stall.
Can Kei see your bodyguards?

Protective was in his nature, Kei’s face softened, as much as it were possible for the Epicanthx and his current tension. “Alright,” he said reassuringly, if that would put her at ease, of course he’d go. “And hey, I’m walking into people all the time,” he added with strong grin, he could use a place to put his feet up, and the coffee would keep him sharp.

Where was a decent café? Kei surveyed around them. Somewhere he could see out the front, and keep an eye on things, for him that would make the venue. Pulling up his blaster carbine and backpack from his stash below, he strapped them to his back

He rolled his shoulders around and nodded, “let’s find somewhere.” After making sure either or both of them were ready, he parted the crowds with his arm. He was in good shape, the gyms on the ship weren’t a match for those on Coruscant he still had enough strength to casually move aside people who might walk into them, he had to keep at his peak.

Leading, it didn’t take long before he spotted a place, small metal building with homely insides, clear windows in all directions, and a solid wall at the back he could put his own back to. There were crowds inside, smells of freshly cooked food, pastries, cakes, hot drinks, and a low murmur of chatter, perfect.

Dropping his kit to the floor, he started unloading again. Pulling up a chair, then one for each the others, he span his own chair around and stat down over the back of it, legs forward, his back was to the wall so he could keep watch outside. “This good?” Kei asked. It was his nature to just go, then ask, but his voice was still a question, they could always move somewhere else.

Shakk enjoyed the the company of new people, but still had a lingering fear. The only people she had gotten close to were her body guards and her father. She was alone on this market trip, the bodyguard were loading supplys onto the ship she was borrowing. All of them were nice people and since the planet was under her father protection it was a safe place for her to freely walk around.

The cafe the man picked out was obviouse that he was a soldier as he picked a table in the far cornor of the shop. She did unknowingly smile when she said, "This if a perfect shop, sir."

It was a quaint little shop, the people seemed to be profiting from the large burst of refugees. The shops waiters were in high spirits as the shop wasn't full of people, but it wasn't empty, the waiters were making there money's worth. She sat across from the man as he sat backwards on his chair. She was use to this as many of her bodyguards had such habits. "Well order what you like, I'll cover it, and don't worry about the credits, I can cover it."

She said with a smile, she was still amused by how this man reminded her of her guard "Strew", he was the ships sniper and joker.

Sanya had followed the two to the cafe, she wasn't well educated on the area but it wouldn't hurt to have a sit down and have something to eat. the man had seemed to have made himself comfortable and Sanya took that as a hint of where we would be seated. as she sat down to the table the girl offered to pay for the food, it was a kind act that was not often seen anymore, "thank you" giving off a small smile.

as everyone looked at the menu Sanya was curious to what the others where here for. "so what brings you both here?" it was always a good question to ask even if she knew why, mostly because it's a good conversation starter.

as her eyes scanned up and down the menu ahead found it hard to decide. a waiter soon approached the table asking for there orders "errmm I'll settle for a mild Cofree and a salad." it was nothing fancy but it was something she enjoyed and would give her the energy before getting to work in the medical tents.

“Bowl of cracknuts, and a Clang Juice,” he’d not be having a full meal till those on his ship got one. “Names Kei, I appreciate this food... Miss?” Wondering on Shakk's name, he asked the same question, “and your name miss?” to Sanya as well.

Sanya asked the direct question first, he liked that. “Got a cruiser in orbit, we got banged up fighting Sith, lot of ex republic wounded, food is the biggest concern.” Kei checked his weapon, giving it the once over and dusting off of the power cell, he placed the rest of it down, seeing how much charge was left, not much.

“Getting communications to their families”, especially the ones that wouldn’t be making it back. To his mind where he’d been in the netherworld he was fighting Sith. He didn’t know anything about anything when it came to what had actually happened, nor had he heard about the Sith Empire being overrun or Coruscant for that matter. To him only months had gone by, not years in the nether, and all they’d been doing is shooting up ghosts or worse.

When the food arrived and he began to chow down, hungrily, those nuts were his first good meal in a couple of days, and the first fresh one in months. Somewhere on his third mouthful he realised his stubborn pride had got in the way of getting his men some food, and that stupidity hit him. “Should have taken you up on your offer for the crew,” he admitted, “I like to pay my way,” there was no way he could feed those men and women for long, not without support from some faction or other, a ship that size was too big for any individual to provide for now the support fleet was gone.

“What about you? What brings you both here?” Kei asked the same direct question back to both women, looking between them.

Shakk was not very interested in the menu, she had eaten back at the refugee camp with old friends from the station, but out of kindness she said to the waiter, "I'll have a coffee and just bring the sugar and cream here."

She continued to look at the two at the table to try and figure them out. She was still quite reserve about what the two were and what they were doing there. Then she was asked what she was doing, 'Always to late for to asks the question.' She thought to herself.

"Oh, that's right," she said with a nervouse voice, "my names Shakk Awaud, I'm just resupplying at my fathers refugee camp down the road, I'd suppose that's why you two are here?"

The only refugee camp taking on survivors and civilians in the sector, it was meant to stay a secreat from Sith and the Republic because the camp would assist both injured sides. Then once they recovered, they were escorted from the system and asked not to reveil the camps. So far it had been working and the camp was not intimidate danger.

"If you wish Mr. I can speak with the doctors at the camp and see if they have room for your men," she looked deeply into the menu as if she was still ordering, "I have friends in the camp who wouldn't mide the extra work."

As Sanya sat there she was glad that most of the tension had gone and a good conversation was coming along."I'm Sanya, Jedi Padawan. I've been sent here to help with the medics in treating patients but I'm not sure where it is, hence why I arrived a day early so I could look around and pick up a few supplies I'm low on." Sanya's eyes focused on Shakk "your father sounds like a good man it's very rear these days to see people helping each other in times like this. You must take after him quite alot" Sanya smiled at her "although I'm not sure how to put this do you know anyone in your blood line that's force sensitive? The reason I ask is since I've been with you I keep feeling a strange presence like it's raw if you get what I mean?"

“Thanks Shakk.” With a nod, his voice was deep, holding a strong sense of gratitude, the words short but the look he gave her a long one. She had just taken a weight off his shoulders, offering to help those he would do anything for. He doubted they’d just give thousands of men medical supplies or probably could take that many, it’d have to be rationed out, but anything was a huge help.

“Wouldn’t mind helping kind folk with that work either,” he grinned reassuringly to the girl, the least he could do was send people to help, to trade what little they had to the camp. He could tell she was still nervous, she reminded him of old crewmate [member="Natol'ine"], it naturally put him into a protective big brother type mindset, and his body relaxed, losing his own tension. The force energies around him and his Jedi training took over, relaxing him and hopefully taking some of the tension out of the room to help anyone nearby, just as his old master [member="Kiskla Grayson"] used to encourage in him, only now focused on others.

He cracked a few more nuts, dropping two in his juice and chewing Sanya’s words over, letting them both talk before he asked his own question. He’d not been stretching his senses out, and it wasn’t until now that he did, maybe Shakk was force sensitive, it wouldn’t be a bad thing given how much she seemed to care about people.

“Republic Jedi?” Kei asked Sanya, he was keen to know how things were in his old home, she could be a member of that order, “how they holding up?” He was assuming, confident he might hear some news, even if she just had rumors to tell.

Shakk was mid drink when Sanya mentioned Her father being nice, she nearly choked on the liquid. The thought of her father being kind was a though long lost.

"My father has his qualities, kind and good hearted isn't one of them," she strained herself out as to recover from her near laughter, "he is a cheat if anything else, but without him, Ild say the healers guild wouldn't be able to keep there statuse as the largest surplus of medical supplies."

She drugged before drinking her drink again, "He is a smart man, but he's my adopted father, so idk about relatives, but I found out recently that I am force sensitive, I left my father to search for a master to search for my place."

She looked over at Kei, "My father is always looking for capable men to join the Security Division, mostly just guarding trading post and camps, the occasional riots to take care of, other then that, medical supply are free, unless my father says otherwise."

Sanya was pleased that she mentioned about a master, the Jedi where always looking for new faces to teach. "if you're looking for a master to train you I am sure there are many back at the temple eager to teach." She sighed while momentarily reminiscing "I can remember how I got brought in, it's a funny story actually. before I became a Jedi I used to steal and help people in the slums of different planets healing them and tending to there wounds or illnesses. then one day I saw this woman dressed in robes, no idea she was a Jedi, and I saw her saber dangling from her waist. at this point I knew how to make things levitate so I unhinged her saber from her belt and had it in my hands thinking she wouldn't catch me, but she did, anyway she turned around and approached me words where exchanged and I was offered to go to the temple and be trained. to this day I've done everything I can using the training I have learned to hello others. put it this way I have never looked back on the offer, some things are meant to happen." she leaned back in the seat looking around to check if our food was on it's way but showed no sign meaning it must still been prepared.

"if you want to be trained it's where I advise to go. I'll be here a couple of days so if you would like you can always come back with me and I can see that someone can start your training when your ready. just so you know I'm not forcing you to do anything you don't want to but you have a strong connection to the force and you have potential to train in skills you would never imagine possible." turning her head towards Kei she smiled "yes where doing fine, the sith are still taking it's toll on us but we have hope this relentless war will stop soon."

Shakk had been thinking of joining the Jedi Order for quite a while now. She had more Jedi friends then Sith, and she had no hate in her heart, this could be her chance. She seemed very sensitive to Shakks feeling and all, but as she started to open her mouth to agree to do so, but she remembered what she and her father agreed to. She was to study the ideology of all factions before committing to one faction. He was a wise man when he wanted to be, and she realized she was making a dessi soon based on her personal exsperiance with Jedi and not that of true knowlage.

"I do really appreciate your willingness to help me in my persuet of knowlage and a master to train me," she shyly looked down slightly, "but I made a promise to figure out the knowlage of my power before diving into some war I know nothing about."

She looked at the rouged soldier as she could tell he had seen horror unimaginable to her, for she saw it in her fathers eyes as well, "I wish to fight for what I beleive in, not for what others tell me is right, but I know I wish to heal like my father and his friends do."

Her father, “He helps here Shakk,” Kei tried to get her to see he couldn’t all be bad, “I can spare people to help guard your medical supplies and their camp,” it’d leave the crew even thinner than it was, but it seemed to be the right thing to do. Some of the wildcards and others would want to stay with family here anyway, and return home, it had been a long war for them.

Sanya was passionate about the republic, she had a great story of finding acceptance, even healing. She reminded him of himself an age ago. Much as he cared for the men and women there, the former general had heard the speech before, and seen when it fell short, when the temple burned and then coruscant burned with inaction, Jedi arrested for responding. He'd left long before he'd ever got to see the eventual action his own actions helped spur on, which was unfortunate else he might have seen something different.

Kei remained silent as they spoke, keeping that same friendly grin, grinning because of his time there with Kiskla and because idealistic people like Sanya were part of what made the galaxy great, she reminded him of himself once upon a time, to be honest it could use more of them. Taking a drink of his juice he let it sit, rolling his neck around, the release of tension had been a welcome one.

Long past recruiting people for a cause they knew nothing about, he was just a Jedi now, "Smart Shakk, wherever life takes you, keep that head on your shoulders," he wanted to say don't go blind into anything, always think, look, decide for yourself, “don’t let others judge you”… but she'd have to find all of that out on her own. What could one rusty ex soldier tell idealism, could anyone have told him different when he went his way learning his lessons? No they couldn't.

“Anyone want another drink, these ones are on me.” Heck with it, he could find some credits in his pocket.

This was good, she was making friends with people just met. They were nice people, and she was getting to enjoy their presents. This was in her mind to be a good freindship if things were to get better.

"Thank you, Kei, my father could use all the help he can," she smiled at the large soldier, "also thank you for your support, my father wants me to study medicine, I just want to stand for what's right in my mind."

It was true, she had stayed out of the war. Yet thousands still came to the station, injured by the brutality of this war. She wanted to make a difference.
