  • Misc. Equipment: N/A
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Battery - In the very center of the Megabomber robot, surrounded on all sides by thick armor, lies the massive battery that fuels the Megablaster. It can sustain the robot for five and a half to twenty-seven hours depending on how much exertion it performs. When the battery is empty, a portion of its back can be opened through a small combination lock and the battery can be recharged outside the Megabomber.
Strengths:
  • Giant Metal Man - Each Megabomber is shaped to resemble a large, well-built human, consequently becoming a terrifying presence on the battlefield. A Megabomber is as much of a physiological threat as it is a physical threat, especially against smaller or less advanced species.
  • Human Actions - Being roughly humanoid, Megabombers can enjoy a level of adaptability far above that of their vehicular or stationary counterparts. Megabombers are firmly between the Megagunner Robot and Megablaster Robot in strength, capable of lifting up very large objects, including armored vehicles, and hurling them at enemies. Additionally, Megabombers can evade fire easier and move faster than Megagunners with their smaller, lighter bodies.
  • Bulletproof - The Megabomber is completely covered in very thick armor, only surpassed by the armor of Megagunners. A Megabomber is completely immune to small-arms fire, and highly resistant to ion grenades. However, two anti-tank rockets to the head or five to the body are enough to destroy or incapacitate a Megabomber. Heavier armaments found on tanks, walkers, forts, and capital ships can typically kill a Megabomber in two or less shots in any area of the body.
  • Explosive Pill Rain - Megabombers wield grenade launchers two to five times larger than infantry issue rocket launchers, which can inflict horrific damage on grouped enemies. While lacking the penetrating power of the Megablaster's rockets, Megabombers have a much larger splash radius and can easily wipe out a dozen or more moderately armored soldiers with a single grenade dropped in the center of the enemy formation.
  • Splash Resistance - Compared to the Megablaster, the Megabomber is much less vulnerable to the splash radius of its own explosives. Consequently, Megabombers can confidently fire grenades right at their feet to eliminate melee-range enemies or screen themselves with the smoke of their grenades.
Weaknesses:
  • Giant Metal Man - The Megabomber's size makes it an extremely obvious target to tanks and artillery. While smaller than the Megagunner, the Megabomber is still a massive robot and often within range of enemy heavy armaments.
  • Superconductor - A giant plate of metal and wires, the Megabomber's ultimate bane is an ion cannon emplacement. Even a tripod ion cannon can be enough to hinder a Megabomber significantly, slowing it to a standstill and cutting its rate of fire to nearly zero.
  • Self-Explosions - While much less vulnerable than the Megablaster, the Megabomber can still be slain with its own grenade launcher. A dangerous and hard to pull off, but highly effective method to destroy a Megabomber is to go right under or on top of one, while leading a second Megabomber to fire its six-grenade clip in the path of the first, resulting in the combined explosion critically damaging or destroying the first Megabomber.
  • Close-Sighted - Megabombers have a limited sensor range, only being able to detect and fire apon enemies up to about twenty meters away. If an enemy strays outside its range, it will automatically disengage and search for a new target.
  • Soft Explosions - Compared to the Megablaster's rockets, the Megabomber's grenades have poor penetration and unreliable at destroying columns of tanks or walkers.
DESCRIPTION

The Megabomber is the third and final complete product of the Robot War Machine Project.
The project was started by Rick Kaloo with the intent of replacing most armored vehicles with giant humanoid robots outfitted with massive weapons. Three models were experimented with nearly immediately after the project started - one with a giant minigun, one with a colossal rocket launcher, and one with a huge grenade launcher. The robot designs would each be centralized around their weapons, being well-suited to specifically wield their chosen weapon.

Out of the three, the grenade launcher robot was the hardest to build. With two strongly juxtaposed models already released, the third class of robot would need to fit in the gap between the two. Consequently, it was made bulkier and stronger than the rocket launcher robot, and better armored, but weaker and more vulnerable than the minigun robot. Due to the widely spread splash damage from the grenade launcher, the robot was able to become much more resistant to its own projectiles than the rocket launcher robot.

The robot holds six grenades in its launcher, and has thirty-six more in six armored pouches on its chest.

Named the Megabomber, the grenade launcher robot was the final model to enter production. After its final revisions, Rick Kaloo could finally focus on some of his newer ideas.
