BIOGRAPHY:
Born amongst Kuat's middle class, Mei was chosen at the age of 19 to become a Telbun for a Kuati noble family. The man she was to be the Telbun for was a notably slobbish and gluttonous nobleman who was the only child of the family's matriarch, and thus the only chance for the family line to continue. Before Mei could provide the noble family with a child, however, the nobleman suffered a heart attack and perished, and the family's matriarch fell into a heavy depression. No longer under any obligation to stay with the all but extinct family now that the man who owned her had passed away, and with no reason to return home, Mei left Kuat to apply the skills she was trained in since childhood as a handmaiden, starting with the place she thought such a person would be wanted the most: Coruscant.
At first, Mei mostly served local diplomats as their personal aides, though over the years, she also worked for a handful of Senators and, at one point, a Jedi. Her obsession of maintaining an air of elegance tended to rub her more humble employers the wrong way, and her inability to make emotional connections and generally subdued emotional responses had a tendency to unnerve her more flamboyant employers, leading to relatively short periods of employment. Eventually, when she was 24, Mei was hired as an aide by a bounty hunter from Bunduki, who had been a student of the Followers of Palawa, mostly to handle the paperwork that came with his job. Despite some friction between the two over the hunter's far more rough behavior and crude habits, Mei's disciplined personality gave the bounty hunter the idea to train her so that she could work as a bounty hunter with him. Mei would learn a number of skills from the Bounty Hunter, including the art of Teräs Käsi, which she generally preferred over most other weapons. The two worked together for three years, until an injury forced the Bounty Hunter to retire, effectively ending Mei's employment under him. Mei left the man's service and returned to working as a handmaiden, though now with the ability to double as a bodyguard thanks to the training and experience she had gained in her time working for the Bounty Hunter.
In the two years since, Mei's employment has been much more stable, since bodyguards are generally more valuable than simple handmaidens.
