Kix Tal'Verda

Kixi - Tal'Verda Aliit'buir - Cereal Box Clone
We thought our suffering had ended after the Great War. We had believed that soldiers like us would never be needed nor called upon again. We were wrong and in the end, soldiers like us, like Ca'buir and Ga'buir they always face the steepest of prices. The Galaxy, my brothers, is a damned cruel place. But we're united once more because of their actions and the blood on each others hands. Munit oyacir cuun adate, ner'vod. Oya!

-Kix Tal'Verda, addressing the surviving Dread-Guard members aboard the Leviathan after the Drunkenwell Incident.

Kix sat in a chair adjacent from his father's medical bed which lay within the bowls of the Med Ops Center of the Leviathan. He along with Keziah and a few others had been permanent bodies in the room and refused to move at any point. The shock of it all was just beginning to leave many of the shoulders that resided within the room and passed in and out. It was fairly easy to say that Calico had a constant stream of visitors.

Each one left various trinkets here and there, some brought food, whereas others booze, guns, Mandalorians had an odd way of substituting a get well card. Kix on the other hand was less worried about Calico's physical well-being and far more worried about his mental, however, only time would tell of the effects.

Keziah hadn't left Calico's side since he arrived at the med bay. She had been told that she needed to get some rest herself however she hadn't listen. What if he woke up while she was sleeping? No, that would never work. He needed her here and so here by his side she would stay waiting for him to wake up.

She was doing the best to keep herself calm and collect. She needed to be brave and strong. Tears would not make everything ok, make Calico wake up. Even though the young wife of [member="Calico Tal'Verda"] was overstressed and overtired the only thing she could do was keep him company and hold his hand. Every once in awhile she would talk to him as if he could hear her. Sure there were others in the room however she didn't much care. Kix was family and if he heard her talking to her husband she was fine with it. Keziah was grateful for all the nurses did for him. She couldn't thank everyone enough for their kindness.

Sitting on Calico's other side across from [member="Kix Tal'Verda"] she sighed. Keziah knew he would pull through physically. She had other worries but she vowed to be here by his side no matter what. She would always be here with him and for him.

Jackpot Tal'Verda

Guest
Having been on the other side of the sector at the time of the battle on Druckenwell, Jackpot didn't get the news of the outcome until after the battle. Despite being away from his brothers, he was still concerned about them and was always pitched into some Omega Protectorate comm channel to know what was going on during battles. Though for some reason this time he had decided to not pitch in because of a solo-mission he was on during which he had disguised himself as a mercenary. One would imagine how a man like Jackpot would feel once he got the results of the battle. He had just returned from the mission, when he got the news of Galaar's death and Calico's condition. It shocked him. And he knew he wasn't as close to Calico as Galaar had been, but to Jackpot, both had meant everything since he woke up in this new and strange world. They meant everything to Jackpot. And so he got on the closest ship and flew off to see them at the Leviathan.

Once on the ship, Jackpot had ran towards the medical bay. He was currently on his way to Calico's room. On this whole way he had thought about the consequences this had. Galaar was dead and Calico was heavily injured. What if Calico would remain comatosed for the rest of his life? What if he would loose both of his brothers? The only things he had left from his old life? It was a thought Jackpot didn't want to think about. The answers to those questions would be too hard to deal with. Just the news of Galaar's death had devastated the old Clone Commando, the thought of what would happen if Calico didn't recover from his condition was just too dreadful. Luckily it seemed like Calico's condition was stabilized, so Jackpot had at least one glimmer of light in this sea of darkness.

Once he saw the door Calico was behind, he charged at it. The door opened with a hiss and Jackpot, dashing towards the room just a second prior, came to a halt. He stared at Calico for a couple seconds, not saying anything, before coming a bit closer and falling to his knees before the bed. Then, just as silent as he had been the moment he entered the room, he lowered his head and sat down, his back leaning against the bed Calico was on. He was in too much of a shock from seeing his comrade, his friend, his vod, like that. Sure, he had seen him injured many times before, but not like this. Not with Galaar dead. Not with his whole world at stake.

Calico Tal'Verda. That was the name of her next patient, and to be honest, Feena wasn't really looking forward to going back in there. It wasn't easy, a wound like his, but she'd done her very best. Force healing did nothing, and that was what she needed for this. The human body healed fast, but not fast enough. And trying to stop the bleeding... She was going to have to find the girl that found him and brought him in, and beg her to join her in healing. Seriously. She was genius to manage it!

Feena Checked her charts once more on her data pad, took a deep breath, and went in. Family, friends. To be honest, Feena was getting rather sick of all the visitors. Getting them to leave so she could work on her patient was a chore. But she was too polite to say that out loud, and it wasn't like she could blame them for being worried. She was just his healer and she was worried sick.
So when she entered, she gave a soft smile and wordlessly crossed the room to check his vitals. Best not to say anything at all unless questioned.

Calico hadn't awoken since the events on Drunkenwell. Perhaps it was the wound received from his savior to keep him quiet. More likely however, was the possibility of receding due to mental and physical trauma. It wasn't so much a coma, as simply not getting around to awakening yet. His dreams were no comfort either. They simply repeated events that had happened recently, and long ago. There was no warm detachment from the physical realm with these illusions. There was no warm delusions. Even in his dreams, his mind saw fit to remind him of his decisions.

The veteran stirred. His eyes fluttered for a moment, and he drew in a sharp breath. His lips pursed as words tried to articulate, but the knowledge of how to do so seemed to be lost for the moment. His eyes darted about over each face as he tried to ascertain just where he was.

Keziah was numb from everything that was occurring. Her face was bloodshot red from all of the crying that she had done on her way here. She was out of tears by now and now the only thing she could do was sit here by his side.

She had grown up in a family void of love and caring. The only thing she had gotten as a child was abuse and cruel words. Beat by her father and ignored by her mother. Her brothers were the cruelest though pretending to care only to abandoned her. Calico had showed her that there was good in this world and made her feel love that she had never felt before. It was wonderful to love and to have that reciprocated back towards you ten folds. He was her world, her everything and without him she would be lost she would be lost. In a galaxy full of darkness he had always given her hope for a better tomorrow that everything would be alright.

As Calico's eyes opened Keziah's heart skipped a beat. Slowly she reached out to gently take his hand in hers lightly kissing it as she did. "Hey there," she lightly smiled. Words at the moment were failing her. What was she supposed to say to him. "Your in the medical bay of the Leviathan. November brought you here. how are you feeling?" Stupid question she knew but still..

As Feena reached over to adjust his I.V. a slight movement caught her eye. Not a chance. This could not be what she thought it was. Something on his monitor beeped and Feena almost jumped in astonishment. He was awake. This was a lot sooner than she had expected. And here she was just here to change his bandages too and check on him.

Immediately she pulled out a small flashlight and went right to work. She wanted to walk away now, call her job done and discharge him without a second look (the Leviathan medbay was certainly busy enough that beds were a luxury now and someone else could certainly use the space) but years of medical training kept her in check. She normally would have said something bright and cheerful, something with a hint of sarcasm, something to play off his wounds as if they were just a scratch. People seemed to like it better if you didn't act like their condition was serious. But Feena had seen too much blood since Drunkenwell, too many bodies being wheeled to the morgue. She showed no hint of sunshine, not even a touch of cheer. She was a machine, working automatically. She wasn't going to let this little reunion continue until her work was done.
A good person would have ducked out of the room and let them be. But a good healer would stay and do their job.

Feena was no longer certain that good people existed still, so she was just going to have to be a good healer for the time being.

"Lay still," she ordered, voice flat, "Keep your eyes open. Look at the light for a moment."

Kix Tal'Verda

Kixi - Tal'Verda Aliit'buir - Cereal Box Clone
Kix stood in the instant he heard Feena announce his father as awake by the virtue of offering commands and check ups. He wandered towards the bed and stood down at its end, watching the scene play out. Good to see you awake Buir. He didn't say it, but he thought it and the expression of relief was rather open on his face. The Clone would let the Doctor do her work, not that he trusted her, he wished they could have had one of the Dread-Guard Medical Officers doing this but he wouldn't fault the woman. She tried and cared, that was what mattered. Though if she tried asking him to leave the room one more time he was going to snap it and go shabala berserk.

He stood and merely watched before holding up his commlink and opening a channel to the whole of the Dread Guard. "Ca'buir's awake, boys."

Calico's mind was still a jumbled mess. It took him a long moment to make sense of the words spoken to him, though they eventually registered. The General forced a smile up at [member="Keziah Tal'Verda"]. "Alive." He murmured quietly. It was the only way to describe how exactly he felt at the moment. He opened his mouth to say more, but his doctor --[member="Feena Mason"] of all people!-- spoke first.

He complied without complaint, and stared up at the light. His lips pursed for a long, silent moment as his mind raced to catch up with the situation. Finally, he spoke. "Who else did we lose? How many Dreadguard didn't make it out--on both sides?"

[member="Kix Tal'Verda"]

Keziah was relieved to see him 'alive' to say the least to the point she almost teared up again. She didn't though, she needed to be brave and strong for him. He was still getting orientated to everything around him so for now she would say no more. He didn't need everyone crowed around him asking questions. It was better she just be here and hold his hand. He needed to know that she was here for him. It was only thing she could do at the moment, be here.

Feena shut off the light. Both eyes had dialated just as expecsheted. Good news for his recovery.
"613,915,874 dead at last count, most being civilian casualties. As for your... dread guard, I don't know."

The tone in the healers voice said it all. What did it matter which select group lost people when so many others had died the same way?
"Sit up if you can. I need to change your bandages."

She pulled a roll of bandages from her case and bacta spray. Both were set on the bedside table as she went to assist her patient.
