Intent: To Create an advanced weapon system for the Imperial and Graug militaries
Development Thread: No
Manufacturer: Graug Forgers
Model: Sonic Blaster
Affiliation: Graug and Imperial Militaries
Modularity: No
Production: Mass Produced
Material: Durasteel
Description:

The Menace Sonic Blaster is the second step in creating a modern Graug military. The rifle works by first collecting heavily condensed and ionized air in a chamber in the back of the weapon. After this air has been collected it is moved into a second chamber that forces the air into the shape of a capsule before it ignites the ionized air and causes a super sonic snap . This super sonic snap of noise is thrown into a third, plasma, chamber where it is contained by a plasmatic energy field and expelled through the barrel in the shape of a 1 inch capsule of white energy.

Upon impact with an energy based or physical obstacle, the plasmatic energy will spread apart in a mushroom effect and allow the sonic energy to strike the target in a more controlled burst than the Geonosian Sonic Blaster. The sonic energy, therefore, strikes with a greater impact and delivers a furious punch to the enemy that spreads across the entire body. Against unshielded armor, the weapon can easily shatter the structure of most materials. However, when a shielded subject is the target, the sonic energy is easily displaced and has minimal effect aside from a bit of jarring. If the weapon causes damage to an organic by both bursting open its subjects and transferring a lethal vibration throughout the targets body that breaks bones, causes internal hemorrhaging and crushes internal organs. Damage to inanimate objects is done solely through the immense sonic force behind the bolts that is enough to damage armors and cave in objects. Even if the rounds do not hit their mark, the resulting sonic discharge is enough to deafen and disorient opponents.

The weapon is encouraged to be used against Jedi for the reason that the rounds, upon impact with a lightsaber, still send a significant amount of sonic energy warping around the blade. This energy, while not enough to be lethal, is enough to cause deafness, staggering and the feeling of being punched by a wookiee. The overall radius of the rounds is much tighter since the beam is much more compact and resembles something closer to a standard blaster round. The lethal radius of the round is 3 inches while the secondary effects of the round can stretch for a full meter in radius. The rate of fire for the weapon (as it is only a semi-automatic) is 60 rounds a minute.

Strengths

-Able to effect targets without making direct impact

-Able to deal significant damage to lightsaber wielders, regardless of deflection

-Can cause significant disorientation, even through armor and shields

Weaknesses

-Low Ammo Capacity

-Very weak effects against shielded enemies

-Low Range

Classification: Sonic Blaster
Size: Handheld
Status: Illegal (due to Gratos embargos and Imperial Military Status)
Length: 55.4 centimeters
Weight: 12.8kg
Ammunition Type: Sonic Rounds
Ammunition Capacity: 30 rounds
Effective Range: 15 meters (Optimal) 25 meters (Maximum)

Ugh, I did some research on Wookieepedia, and it appears "sonic energy weapons" is a real thing. Who comes up with this stuff? You can't harness "sonic energy" because "sonic energy" isn't a thing to be harnessed. It's just the transfer of kinetic energy through a medium. It's waves in water. Or sound. Sound itself isn't energy! Urgh.

I hate Star Wars.

My ranting aside, I'll have to ignore the RL lack of science because this is based upon canonical Star Wars "science".

Okay. A question or two:

1) What is the rate of fire?

2) Can you edit in a link to the source of these images please? To give the artist due credit for his/her work.

I also really like the combination of tiny effective range and bulky size. It balances out the weapon's relative power.
