PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Menaq once held firmly to the ideals of the Galactic Alliance's values of collective resistance, democratic freedom, and careful strategy in the face of oppression. However, as the galaxy continues to experience the rise of new authoritarian threats, his outlook has grown more radical. Inspired by Saw Gerbera's uncompromising legacy, Menaq has adopted a more militant and independent approach, believing that decisive and aggressive action is now the only path to true liberation. While he respects the Alliance’s triumphs, he now views the relentless tactics as a necessary evolution to confront the galaxy's ever-present injustices.
STRENGTHS
Strategic: A skilled scout and tactician, Menaq sees the bigger picture and anticipates his enemies’ moves, ensuring his group stays one step ahead.
Resourceful: Menaq is adept at making the most of limited resources, using his cunning and ingenuity to outmaneuver enemies and keep his operations in the shadows.
WEAKNESSES
Extremism: Inspired by Saw Gerrera, Menaq’s uncompromising methods sometimes border on ruthless, making him willing to accept collateral damage in the name of the greater good.
Self-Righteous: Believing his cause is unquestionably just, Menaq can dismiss the perspectives of others, even when they offer valid critiques or alternative solutions.
HISTORY
Menaq B'Gin was born on the warm, forested world of Aphran IV, where his family was renowned for their masterful woodworking. Growing up surrounded by the artistry of handcrafted goods, Menaq learned the value of patience, precision, and hard work. Despite his family’s modest but stable life, Menaq yearned for more—adventure, wealth, and the chance to leave his mark on the galaxy. Driven by ambition and a desire to escape the constraints of his homeworld, he joined the Galactic Alliance military, enlisting as a scout in the Army. His skills in observation, navigation, and adaptability—traits honed in Aphran’s dense forests—quickly distinguished him as an asset in the fight against threats to galactic stability.
During his service, Menaq participated in numerous campaigns against dark and tyrannical forces, including the brutal Brotherhood of the Maw. As a scout, he often found himself on the front lines, gathering critical intelligence and guiding his units through hostile terrain. While his tactical ingenuity and unshakable resolve earned him commendations, the horrors of war left deep scars. In one of the fiercest battles, Menaq suffered a devastating injury, losing his leg in combat. This forced him into early retirement, a bitter turn that left him grappling with a sense of incompleteness. Though equipped with a prosthetic, he was haunted by the feeling that he had left the fight unfinished. The bureaucratic stagnation of the Galactic Alliance only deepened his disillusionment, prompting him to channel his frustrations into action.
Secretly, Menaq founded the Torchbearers, a clandestine group inspired by the ideals of the old Rebellion and other such resistance movements. Operating in the shadows of League of Autonomous Worlds (LAW) space, the Torchbearers targeted new threats to freedom, including authoritarian regimes and rising warlords. Over the years, Menaq’s methods have grown more aggressive, favoring direct and often destructive action to dismantle oppressive forces. Though he still honors the ideals of hope and liberation that fueled the Rebellion, his stance has shifted—compromise, to him, is now a weakness, and collateral damage an unfortunate necessity.
