Mental Prowess- Training under Darth Venefica

Truth be told, Vi'kas didn't know what to expect. Darth Venefica had a reputation for being a little bit... insane. He then remembered he was among the Sith, and nobody as totally sane. She was just a little crazier than others. He had spent hours meditating before this, trying to prepare himself for what was to come. He had considered just not coming, but then laughed it off. He was determined to hone himself into a deadly weapon, and would stop for nothing. Taking a deep breath, he stepped into the room where he would meet the Darth.

The Sith Knight had taken time from her busy schedule, if she really had any schedule at all, to offer her knowledge to another. She normally didn't train others that had not sworn to be her Apprentice, but this one had seemed more than enthused to learn from her. And though she had a rather coloured reputation, she wished for the One Sith to be stronger than they ever were. Hence, her arrival at the training grounds.

Like all occasions when she walked through the temples, she ignored everyone; even those that were brave enough to strike up a conversation with the unbalanced Sith from Dagobah. She cared nothing for their personal plights unless it involved the One Sith as a whole; which normally it didn't. She had been viewed as a loner, and sometimes a rebel among the Order but those were two titles she proudly wore. She knew what it meant to be Sith; trust no one and always be on guard.

With a wave from her right hand, the doors slid apart granting her access to the room; where she saw the individual waiting for here. "So you wish to understand the mental prowess of the Force...in short....you wish to learn how to dominate the minds of others while bending their will to yours." She smiled.

"Tell us...what makes you think you are worthy to learn from me?"

@Vi'kas Mirtis

He was slightly confused at first, as the Sith Knight referred to herself as "we." He quickly overcame his confusion, and spoke, "I am worthy because of my mental strength. I know of your reputation, Darth Venefica. I listen as the other Sith speak of you with fear and cowardice. I have no such quelms. I am scared of nothing and nobody, and will prove it if necessary." He clenched his fist around his lightsaber, fully preparing for an attack. He just had slightly insulted a Sith, after all. He knew firsthand how they loved to be feared.

Her head leaned back as she let out a roar of laughter at the response from the individual. He had amused her with his words in a matter of seconds. When she got control of herself, she brushed a tear from her right eye. "Mental Strength? No fear? Let us test your mental strength," she said harshly and in a flash she had penetrated his mental walls and invaded his mind, rooting about as if she owned him, which she did. His thoughts where her thoughts, implanted into his mind. "Mental strength....not quite," she whispered into his mind, her mind.

Now he would know fear, fear of the mind. With his mind firmly in her grasp, she called on the dark power of Memory Walk and brought to the fore front of his mind everything he feared, and some he was unaware that he feared. She could feel his body shake, his mind screaming as one horror vision after another danced about; mocking him. Then as quick as she had entered, she was gone. His mind was his once again.

"Let us try this again...what makes you think you are worthy to learn from me?"

@Vi'kas Mirtis

Vi'kas fell to his knees as he felt another conscience invade his. Knowing he was outmatched, he quickly grabbed his closest secrets and memories, curling his mind into a tight ball around them. He felt his strength begin to leave him, when she let her grip go. He felt a wave of relief wash over him, and took a few ragged breaths. It took him a moment to regain his composure, then sprung to his feet. Once he was again able to speak, he said, "I do admit, there are some things I fear, but not you. You simply showed me my fears, my weaknesses. I shall attempt to rid myself of them in the days to come. However, I am worthy because I am here. Most Sith are scared of you, I feel it in their bones and hear it in their voices. Yet I am here. They very fact that I am alive speaks for itself, as I fought against all odds to make it here. My past was neither easy nor safe, nor is my current situation. Yet I am here. That is why I am worthy."

"Perhaps you think you are worthy...we shall see. We shall see." She looked the individual, his name unknown to her, up and down gauging what she had to work with. He believed he did not fear her but the greatest lies one hears are the ones from their own lips. She didn't care if he, or others, feared her or not. Their thoughts and perceptions of her mattered not, and she knew the dangers associated with being feared; and again she did not care. Let fools challenge her.

"Tell us what you know of mind manipulation. There is no wrong answers...only wrong questions. Satisfy our curiosity and we shall decide if you are worthy or not."

@Vi'kas Mirtis

Yet again, Vi'kas was confused as to why to she referred to herself as "we." Shaking his question aside, he thought of what to say. She was unwittingly asking him questions from when he was an early child, memories he tried to bury. Then, he responded "I admittedly do not know much about mind manipulation, only a few of the basics. I know how to do some basic defense, though it is weak. I can penetrate the minds of others, but it in unsuccessful against even basic defenses. Past that, I do not know much, except that the mind is a person's last sanctuary, a place that should not be toyed with just for fun."

The answer the Acolyte gave her would suffice for now. She appreciated his honesty, since most would try to be something more than they were. And most of them no longer were a part of the galaxy, she saw to that herself. "Basic defense is no defense at all...but we are getting ahead of ourselves." She knew how to knock down the mental walls others tried to put up. And if the Acolyte proved he was worthy enough, so would he.

"The weaker the will...the easier it is to invade their minds. Most people forgo mental training opting for physical training. They think their strength can overcome everything...but they are wrong. Granted, facing a more superior opponent in terms of brute strength can be tricky to handle...but what good is all that strength when you hold their mind in your hands?"

She began tapping her right index on her pursed lips as she thought how to proceed. Mind domination was not a skill easily learned. It took hours of practice to achieve the results and rewards from it. "The first lesson is training your mind. This room is filled with all sorts of objects...so you will use your mind...pushing it to the limit and pick them up one by one. Do not drop any in the process or you will have to start from the beginning."

Vi'kas frowned. He wasn't entirely sure of the task before him. Confused, he asked, "Should I use telekinesis to pick up the objects? Otherwise, I'm not entirely sure how to complete the task. If these objects are inanimate, then they do not have minds of their own. How do you wish me to complete this task? I would first like to know the basics of controlling an object that does not involve controlling another mind." He grimaced, knowing that the Sith Knight may very well punish him for asking a question.

She stared at the Acolyte for a moment then broke into laughter. "Do you know how to command telekinesis? It is one of the earliest powers to manifest itself in you. If you do not know how to do this....let me know now and we will take a step back and begin there."

What she found to be simple could be complex to another. She knew of telekinesis when she was a girl but she didn't know how to control it. Like all Force abilities, practice was key. Especially with mind domination, it was not something one could simply master in a day or a week or a month. It took years to break the will of others. Did this Acolyte have years to master what she would teach him?

Vi'kas let loose a breath of relief. He had thought she was going to make him try to do some sort of crazy mind manipulation that he did not yet know. He looked around the room, looking for something to lift. Ah, there we go, he thought as he spotted an old book laying on the floor. He rolled his his neck, and took a deep breath. He thrust his arm out at his target, and it hovered several inches off the ground. As a vein on his head began to bulge, he pushed harder. He went a little too hard too fast, and the book shot up into the ceiling, startling him.

"Focus," she said as her eyes tracked the book and slammed into the ceiling. "You control the Force...not the other way around. Watch." One by one she began to levitate everything in the room holding each object with her mind. To prove her pointe about focusing, she began to move the several objects around the room at once. Then she let them drop to the floor, not caring where they landed.

"That is what true focus is...that is what a trained mind can achieve." With a sweep of her hand, she slammed all the objects against the wall. "And that is a demonstration of pouring emotions such as anger into the Force. If you allow the Force to control your emotions or your mind...then you will fail."

She returned the objects to their previous locations using telekinesis. "Now...you will try this again. We want you to pick up as many objects you can with your mind."

@Vi'kas Mirtis

Vi'kas kneeled on the ground, reaching out with his mind. As a Miraluka, he was naturally an adept at seeing with the force. He felt the objects around him, and asserted his dominance. He pictured himself as the master, and the objects were his slaves. They existed only to do his bidding. He enveloped everything in the room with his conscience, and then quickly pulled it off of his trainer, as he did not wish for her to kill him. Then, he asserted his will over the objects. He felt them defy gravity, lifting themselves off the ground. He felt them demand to return to the floor, where they belonged, forgetting they were his slaves. This blasphemy angered him, and he channeled his anger into lifting them about four feet off the ground. He then became exhausted, letting the objects clatter to the floor. Though he was exhausted, he smiled, seeing his progress.
