PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
MEROS: Quiet, reserved, and tends not to speak very often; when he does it is often quick, one word response. Is the more calculated of the two, often being the one to plan out their strategies for taking down targets. He tends to think his sister is far too boisterous and flirty with others, even when they're targets. Often seen as the "serious one" of the duo.
MENACE: Light-hearted but with a devious edge. She speaks far more than her brother and is often the "face" and "voice" of the pair when promoting them to clients. Unlike Meros, she prefers to get as close to her targets before ending/capturing them. In the heat of battle, she becomes more focused, especially when it means defending her brother.
STRENGTHS
Both are highly skilled acrobats, hand-to-hand fighters, infiltrators and knife wielders.
Meros has skills with long-ranged weapons, whereas Menace is more skilled using dual pistols.
WEAKNESSES
While deadly together, they are only half as effective when alone.
Both are highly protective of the other, which can be an exploited weakness.
They both covet the rings given by their parents, holding onto them tenderly.
HISTORY
Gorgo's Galactic Grand Circus was a traveling show of performers, exotic beast tamers, and other delights across the Outer Rim. In truth, however, it was also a guise for a secret group of thieves that, after taking their shares from unsuspecting locals, would be gone long before authorities could follow them. Gorgo himself, an Ortolan, happily shared the goods among his trope as they all saw each other as one happy family.
Among the performances were Tysha, an Arkanian Offshoot dancer, and Qyin, the best of the animal handlers. Both had grown romantic with each other and, in time, gave birth to a pair of twins. They were named Meros and Menace, after a tale Tysha remembered from her youth about siblings born to do great things.
Growing up in the life of a circus, Meros and Menace were trained to be performers like their parents. Both had a knack for taking to tightrope walking, mid-air stunts, juggling, etc. They were also trained to steal as soft and quickly as shadows. They were really good at both. They'd been dubbed "the Ghostly Twins" due to their appearances as well as their skills.
Sadly, when the two had grown older and bolder, they stole from the wrong person. The weequay was a member of a band of mercenaries under the leadership of the Black Suns. In retaliation, they attacked the carnival and slaughtered all but a few, including the twin's own parents who died defending them. The only thing Meros and Menace could recover were their wedding rings, forged from Orichalc that Gorgo had given them as presents. The twins and the few survivors were taken to be slaves by the mercs.
The whole time, Meros and Menace fought and tried to sneak their way to freedom from the mercenaries, only to be caught each time. However, their attempts were noticed by one of the mercs, a Devaronian named Kerg. Kerg saw the potential in the twins and, after persuading his superiors, took them both for his own as pupils. He revealed to them he was trained by the Assassin's Guild and was willing to take them under his wing. Initially refusing, he threatened to send them to the slavers as an alternative. With no real choice, the twins agreed.
Over the years Kerg had made Meros and Meance into deadly fighters and killers. He taught them all his trades and secrets while they in-turn learned a few of their own. His final test for them was assassinating the head of the merc band that had killed their circus family all those years ago. They succeeded in slaying him and most of the other mercenaries, revealing Kerg's true intentions to take control for himself. With Kerg in charge, he offered the two positions in his newly formed merc group, but both Meros and Meance refused. They decided to work for themselves and become freelancers, which Kerg did not object to.
Now the Ghostly Twins hunt and kill throughout the galaxy, making their living off the blood money they earn. The only thing they care for more than another decent pay is each other, being the only family either has left.
