Private Midnights Become My Afternoons

Contemplative thoughts swirled about Ivalyn's mind as she looked out over the Han River from her Sejong Penthouse in the beautiful Yeosucheon Intergalactic Park. The tower was among the skyscrapers that fought for views of the mighty waters that provided life to the city. The large, floor to ceiling windows drank in the Seoulian sunlight, light that splashed across the marble floors of her Sejong home. The beeps of her loyal droid a T3-K10 model refurbished on Dosuun, he was painted in a beautiful gold with black inlays and platinum trims. Like wise, her protocol droid fashioned with a posh Galidraani accented hummed around the penthouse tidying up where he could.
It was mid-day on Sejong, the capital of Seoul and far below on the streets near the Intergalactic Bazaar vendors hawked their wares and people were busy getting to and from work. Tourists stopped to shop, and people went about their day, Ivalyn's hands rested at the small of her back in an at ease pose as she watched the river. Barges moved goods, and ferries moved people and life in Sejong continued on. Her navy blue maxi dress, hovered over and reflected against the polished floor. White satin laced-up heels provided additional height, sapphire drop statement earrings, with a pear shaped statement necklace to match, and Ivalyn's graceful chestnut locks mostly pulled back into a bun.
Ivalyn wasn't one to normally have visitors nor be of the kind to invite people to visit. It seemed, however; necessary as her aunt Aerys had left it with her to reach out to the Sword of the Jedi Valery Noble Valery Noble herself. Apparently, Aerys owed a great deal to the Master Jedi a debt, even. One that was to be repaid, although Ivalyn thought the gift in which her aunt wanted to give was quite ridiculous. She could understand the life and death situation of the scenario presented to her, what she couldn't fathom was to why her dear aunt, who'd clearly been clonked on the head far too often has an infant wanted to give what seemed to be the moon and the stars to the woman.
It didn't help that Ivalyn wasn't fond of meddling with people in positions of power. Her family seemed filled to the brim with egos, megalomaniacs, fanatics and bad tempers. From the infamy of her maternal grandmother, to her father's own brutality, Ivalyn wanted nothing to do with their agendas although had no qualms about leveraging the wealth her family had accumulated over the decades. Deep azure eyes continued to give the river their undivided attention, she had cleared her schedule for the day and would keep her schedule cleared until such time as the Master Jedi was ready to depart.

Travel to this side of the galaxy wasn't exactly quick, and Ivalyn wanted to be a gracious host and at the very least provide the Master Jedi a tour of the Commonwealth. History had only thus far remembered this corner of the galaxy's turn as the First Order something her mother was obsessed with prior to her birth. Perhaps it was something to do with the brunette plastered damn near everywhere in Avalonia, a cousin of some sort - cousins that Ivalyn noticed that they never seemed to short on, or of for that matter.
"Miss, I believe our guest has checked in at the lobby, security is requesting approval. Shall I retrieve her?"
Ivalyn turned from the panoramic views before her and to her protocol droid simply known as Cecil. "Yes, of course. Bring her to the drawing room, would you?"
"Of course," obliged Cecil as he made his way to the lift. The Master Jedi would need the escort as only Cecil and Ivalyn held the key necessary to access the penthouse. T3, of whom Ivalyn affectionately called Tav followed her into the drawing room which from the main living area was down a long hall and through a set of doors at the end of it. An office, library and guest bedroom along with washroom connected to the very same hall. Ivalyn's gown seemed to float above the floors, the woman stopped only at her office to pull a black knitted shawl from the coat rack there. Her heels clicked and clacked against the marble floor. "Behave yourself, Tav." Ivalyn warned, "I understand you have misgivings with the Jedi, but I assure you no one is going to place a restraining bolt on you today."
Tav replied hasilty.
"I gave you explicit instructions to stay on the yacht, it was you, who decided to wander off. You can only hold yourself accountable for getting tripped up into the rubbish pile," she remarked, commenting on the droid's last forray on Coruscant. "You are quite fortunate that Cecil had the good mind to look for you. I told him as I told you, I will not bail you out of your continued, insistence of eavesdropping on every other droids' conversations. It's quite rude."
Tav didn't agree.
"Honestly, with the sort of attitude you've given, one would mistake you for an astromech, perhaps of the R-series."
Tav really didn't agree.
"Then I suggest you behave yourself and act accordingly, you will not be rude to a guest of mine today, understood?"
Tav agreed, but grumbled whilst doing so.
"If you're going to have an attitude then you can sit in the kitchen beside the garage droid, would you like to do so?"
No, he wouldn't.

"Then, what are we going to do?"

Tav would reluctantly, behave himself.
By the time Tav had sorted himself out, Ivalyn had taken her seat on one of her beautiful red velvet accent chairs. She could hear the lift doors opening, followed by Cecil who had been chatting with the woman's honored guest. A small smile appeared on Ivalyn's features, she after all, needed to at the very least play the part of gracious host - convincingly. Playing the part was one of the things she was quite capable of, and just as the Master Jedi approached, Ivalyn rose from her seat to greet her.

Valery had been uncertain about what to wear.

Usually, she just liked to visit wearing her Jedi gear because she was an important representative of the order. But this invitation was more... personal, and maybe the expectation was fancier clothes? She didn't know, so she came prepared and had a dress and a few other outfits in her bag, while she'd arrive in just her Jedi attire — it'd hopefully make her a little more recognizable to her host. Not that she had any idea just how much the people here knew about the Jedi, and about her specifically.

In some parts of the Galaxy, Valery was practically a celebrity. In others, she could stand within a crowd without anybody looking her way.

After arriving, the Jedi Master was kept waiting in the lobby at first, but it didn't take long before she was escorted to the turbolift, and brought to where her host would be waiting. Upon entering the room, Valery met the woman's smile with her own, and politely dipped her head in greeting.

"Thank you for the warm welcome, Miss Yvarro," Valery said with a friendly tone. "It's good to finally meet you."

Ivalyn reserved her judgment on clothing, the Jedi were always a particular sort especially those who lingered about the Coreworlds. Taste and decorum didn't always go hand in hand. Ivalyn knew of Valery's reputation but didn't feel that it carried much weight out here, although, there was a healthy amount of 'cautious' respect toward it. "The pleasure is all mine, what may I call you?" She inquired with a tone that matched the Master Jedi's.
"Please, do have a seat, would you care for a cup of tea? Cecil, please bring our guest whatever it is she wishes," Ivalyn motioned between her guest and to her protocol droid.
Her attention turned back toward her guest for the moment. "I apologize if the invitation felt somewhat out of the blue, and I thank you for making the time to come out all this way." Ivalyn wanted to get straight into the details, the nitty, gritty of it all as some might say, "before my aunts.... departure, you may say. She requested that I give you a gift, a debt she mentioned that she owed you for..." Ivalyn held up her hand and leaned back into her chair, and from a small side table plucked a tablet. "I quote, saving my ... well, you know... and not murdering me, during my time as a Stormtrooper for the New Imperial Order." Ivalyn gave her guest, the Master Jedi a wide smile, but it was one that simply was polite as she had not a clue what Aerys might have meant.
Cecil returned with refreshments, tea, biscuits, lemon water and mint water to boot. The droid served the two women whilst the conversation was on going. He recieved a polite thank you from Ivalyn.
"Before I tell you what it is exactly my dear, dear aunt has decided to give you. I wanted to get to know you a little more, given the... depths of which this gift extends. Second, I wanted to give you a tour of the Commonwealth, you'll understand why both are necessary before I sign off on what's about to be... yours." She still wasn't sure if Aerys was right in the head, perhaps a consequence of being born from a Force-user she thought, she wasn't sure. Aerys was odd, but that was to say, most of her relatives were odd, peculiar and very, very full of themselves at some point in their lives. "I hope, though, that this hasn't torn you away from important business."
"Please, at any ti-"
Tav decided beep and boop a few opinions of his own.
Ivalyn shot the droid a look
"Pardon his manners, it seems my dear Tav was... mishandled the last time he was on Coruscant. Restraining bolts, were involved," Ivalyn gave the Master Jedi the quick rundown of events, "as I was saying." Ivalyn's attention moved on from her droid, back to her guest, "please if you do need to leave for whatever reason let me know and I can both tell you and give you what it is that is to be yours."
"I'll add that whatever occured so many years ago must have had quite the impact on my aunt Aerys," Ivalyn added and then sipped a bit of earl gray from her tea cup. "Now, do you have any questions from me, please, ask away anything you wish to know of me personally, or about my family." At this point in life, she had made peace with the line of which she descended.

"Master Jedi, Master Noble, or anything along those lines is fine with me," Valery said with a polite smile. Perhaps they'd get on first-name basis soon enough, but until then, she liked things to stay polite and respectful. She then took a seat, and turned to face the droid, who was offered a smile again, "Some tea would be lovely, thank you." She dipped her head in gratitude and looked back at Ivalyn.

She listened intently to the other woman — the meeting had been organized fairly out of the blue, so she was curious to hear what it was about exactly. Of all possibilities, a gift actually surprised Valery a little bit.

But, as expected, there was a little more to it.

"I'm curious what kind of gift it is. Jedi don't really do what they do for a reward, but I have a feeling she wouldn't like it if I didn't accept this token of her gratitude." Still, Valery felt a little bad for accepting it, whatever it was. She didn't want anybody to think that she needed to be rewarded for what she did.

"But a tour and some more information about the Commonwealth would be wonderful. I can't say I know much about-" she paused and blinked at the droid and his behavior. She was used to a very loving droid at home, but she understood where more negative feelings could come from as well.

"It's quite alright. Where I'm personally from, we have a very different view on droids. I don't see them as things to own." She smiled warmly then looked back at Ivalyn once more.

"Maybe we can start with a tour and some history about this stretch of space?"

"Master Noble," Ivalyn inclined her head politely. Sipping her cup of tea, she listened to the varied responses given by the Master Jedi. A smile followed after Master Noble alluded to her aunt's dislike if the gift was not accepted. "She would most certainly be heartbroken." Responded Ivalyn who set her cup of tea down on its saucer and rested them on the side table beside her chair. Her smile warmed and she could only add, "it is certainly the kind of gift that will not fit into one's pocketbook that I can assure you."

Tav beeped in response to the Jedi Master and turned to Ivalyn, who spoke to Tav directly. "He's been a great companion of mine since I was a girl, Cecil here was gifted to me by my mother when I turned sixteen." She gave a gesture toward the protocol droid and then refocused her attention back on the utility droid. "I bought Tav at a market near Ossus, and with my aunt and uncle's help. We were able to refurbish him."

The Jedi Master agreed to a tour and a bit of history of the region.

"Excellent," She turned to look toward Cecil once more, "prepare the speeder would you? Meet us at the Amphitheater."

"We can start with a breath of fresh air, and a bit of a walk around the district here." Ivalyn mentioned as she rose to her feet, "and if you need comfortable shoes or more comfortable clothing, please let me know. I am more than happy to have a few designers whip something up for you." A brief pause as she looked over at Tav. "I'd recommend the rugged rollers Tav, you know how much you dislike getting gravel in those posh rollers."

He beeped and booped his way out of the room, whilst Cecil could be heard calling ahead to the parcade attendants and valet.

"I'll join you right by the lift doors, I am going to take the opportunity to change into something more appropriate for the occassion." Ivalyn headed out of the drawing room, and Tav remained rolling toward the Master Jedi he beeped for her to follow him to the lift.

Once at the lift, he scurried off to change his rollers out.

Ivalyn re-emerged moments later, in crop pants, nuvola sneakers, and a cashmere long-sleeve jumper, "right then, follow me, Master Noble." She motioned toward the elevator and waited for the Master Jedi and Tav to board the lift first. "Cecil, darling, please come along." Ivalyn motioned with her head toward lift and waited for the protocol droid before enterting the lift herself.

At the ground floor, Ivalyn led the group out of the building and onto the streets of Yeosucheon Intergalactic Park. "This is the Yeosucheon Intergalactic Park, most everyone here just calls it the Intergalactic District. Up here we've got the Tiger Stadium, way over you can just make out the stadium there, and then if we look this way." She turned in the opposite direction, "there's Arirang Arena, and the Boa Amphitheater. Down this way," she gestured ahead, "in this direction we have Choo Stadium."

"So you let me know which way you want to go, we can definitely make our way to the Amphitheater if you'd like. There might be a show or two tonight." A pause as she tried to think of the other events happening, "and if you're interested, I do know that while Limmie isn't in season here, that Get'Shuk 7s, definitely in season, I think the Sejong Warriors are set to face off against the Jeju Islanders tonight. Arirang Arena is going to be quite busy this evening, we've got grav-ball and null-hockey. In fact," Ivalyn checked her watch, "there's a grav-ball game starting in an hour, the..." She scrolled through the data on her watch, "Sejong Royals, are in a match against the Alexandria Dynamos."

She looked up from her watch, "all up to you, there's museums down in another district, if you'd like to visit those."

"Sounds like you've found yourself some great companions, then," Valery said with one last look at Tav and Cecil, before she got up from her seat and readied herself for a tour. The gift was still on her mind a little as well, especially after Ivalyn mentioned that it was something big. But, for now, she set her wonder aside and followed after the woman.

"I'll stick to my current outfit, but I'd love to see what type of clothing people have here. Maybe I can bring something home with me, for myself or maybe even for my husband or the kids." Always the spouse and Mom, Valery liked surprising them with things from worlds far away. Especially if they were unique items, ranging from clothes to toys.

Souvenirs, essentially.

Valery then waited for Ivalyn by the lift doors, and soon enough, the woman returned. She looked her over, taking note of the new choice of attire, and welcomed her back with a smile. If that was the type of clothing peopled liked here, they sure knew what comfort was all about.

Together, they took the lift down to the ground floor, and almost immediately, Valery was exposed to quite an advanced world all around her. Ivalyn began to explain what she was looking at, but for a few seconds, Valery was lost in thought. There were so many things to see, and relatively little time — she'd want to go see everything if she could.

"Well, I do like sports, so watching a game could be fun," Valery said with a chuckle. "I also like going to shopping centers or just large social hubs. See where people come together, eat, shop and live their lives, you know?"

Cecil had gone off to the parcade, to fetch the speeder. The amphitheater wasn't that far from where they were and since it was fairly early on in the afternoon it would be just about empty. Ivalyn smirked and gave an inclination with her head for Master Noble to follow her. "Absolutely, there's some good bit of shopping here, in this particular district but if you're looking for unique, and for souvenirs. I've got just the place." The street was crowded as they walked, and Ivalyn began to give a little bit of information about the area they were in.

"The name here for the district is because," she gestured in front of them, "as you can see there are vendors here on the streets with goods from all over the galaxy, and you can find small shops or little blocks where for example. Just here," Ivalyn motioned across the street, "there's a few Anaxsi cafes. The closer we get to the amphitheater the more you'll notice the shift to Keshiri-run businesses." Surrounding them on either side were tall buildings, skyscrapers, huddled around street markets and older buildings. The streets were just wide enough for two lane traffic, more were one-way roads. Above them lingered the sky traffic, the sounds of the train that ran along supported pillars rushed overhead as they came toward the theater, with its own parking facilities and connected to the Seoularian metro.

Ambient sounds of traffic, and conversations flooded around them. They crossed streets with crowds of people, the police were present at some of the bigger intersections. Advertising on the sides of buildings encouraging the population to consume. Parking along the streets only added to the congested roads. Tav rolled along with them, Ivalyn spoke to him directly, "why don't you roll in front, you know very well where the amphitheater is."

Tav beeped in agreement and rushed between them. They weren't too far away now, it was just across one more street. "We'll be headed to the Namyang Manufacturing District, there's this wonderful little section there called the Euljiro Artisan Enclave, you'll find some of the best hand made items there, thousands of tradespeople, tons of shoppes, noodle stands, it's fabulous. Then right by it is Guro Square, which is home to an amazing selection of textiles, coats, blankets, and of course, clothes." Ivalyn smirked a little as they arrived in the parking lot and Cecil began to wave them over.

The speeder, was rather unassuming Cecil moved to open the doors for the ladies, "after you Master Noble."

Tav popped up in the front, and awaited the protocol droid. Ivalyn climbed into the back and Cecil took on the role of driver, with the door shut the speeder began to move. "Your destination, ma'am?"

"Namyang," was all Ivalyn said and without further ado, the speeder headed up toward one of the merging skylanes. The Dosuunian took the opportunity as the host to give a bit of information about the areas they would be passing over. "We'll be going over the Kyobo Financial District, the Palatial District and then the Museum District I mentioned. Hopefully it won't be too long, but we'll be at the mercey of Sejong traffic."

"So, Master Noble, tell me a little more about yourself, whatever you feel comfortable sharing. If nothing at all, then that's quite alright," Ivalyn understood that not everyone was ready to give out their life story right on the first meeting. She was more than happy to discuss the history of the city if that was asked of her. Although the city spoke for itself, like much of the region the word resilience was an understatement given all that it had gone through.

"Oh wow, a lot of cultures coming together here then, hm?" Valery asked rhetorically, as she looked around and took note of various different shops and cafes. Some other planets in the Galaxy felt similar, due to a population of varied species, but everything here felt rather peaceful thus far. She was certain that Sejon had its own problems, as all places did, but that wasn't going to become the focus of her visit here, she hoped.

Later, Ivalyn could present the gift Aerys had in mind and until then, she hoped to enjoy to see something new about the Galaxy. From busy shopping streets, to grand shows being organized here.

Valery loved all of that stuff.

"That sounds like a lovely place to visit," Valery said after Ivalyn mentioned the Namyang Manufacturing District. "What uh, do people use here for payment?" She then remembered to ask. "Alliance credits aren't exactly worth much everywhere, and I don't have any local currencies." But she did hope to bring a souvenir or too, so maybe it was possible to exchange some of her credits for whatever they used here.

Something to figure out soon.

Valery then stepped into the speeder after they were picked up, and stared out the window to watch the world around her. Only when Ivalyn asked about her, did Valery turn back with a smile, "Well, I suppose the most interesting thing might be my past. I was technically born thousands of years ago, during the days of the Old Republic. But after a long time in stasis, I woke up about a decade ago, right as the war between the Alliance and Brotherhood of the Maw picked up."

"It propelled me back into being a Jedi, and now I'm in a similar position as I was before stasis. Just... a lot more satisfied about my personal life and even with the way the Jedi are."

Sejong's traffic was somewhat merciful to them as the speeder traversed the skylanes well above the city. In either lane were other speeders, including an entire lane devoted to the big haulers. A small bike whizzed through traffic and Ivalyn shook her head, "not entirely sure why those are the type that seem to think nothing will happen to them." And then Valery asked about currency, to which Ivalyn replied, "sovereigns, all Commonwealth members use the First Imperial Sovereign."

"Soon to be the Commonwealth Sovereign once a new design for currency has been accepted," a beat later, "but don't worry about your purchase or exchanging currency. You're welcomed to exchange it if you wish to take it back to your family, however for everything else." Ivalyn gave her a reassuring smile. "I'll handle it." The speeder began picking up speed as traffic began to clear up and Sejong's skyline welcomed them as they turned down toward Namyang.

Valery spoke a little about her past.

"I recall watching news about that, the Maw and the Alliance," Ivalyn commented.

The speeder moved into a lane that would merge with traffic on the ground.

"Happy to hear that things have, from what I can tell, have more or less gone well for you," she added, as the wheels from the speeder touched on the ground and the vehicle moved with the flow of ground traffic. Buildings and skyscrapers no longer at eye level as they towered over them. Ivalyn thought about whether or not she should talk about the Siege, sometimes called the Fall. She decided against it, if the Jedi Master asked, she would answer truthfully. The speeder now off the highways, moved along the streets looking for a decent parking garage.

As they moved toward a parcade, Ivalyn leaned back a little, relaxed in her seat, "you'll see Tigerkin like this gentleman here." She gestured toward the eight foot tall, anthropomorphic, tiger creature. "They're a big part of Seoul, and almost all of them are Force Sensitive. Cecil, what's the order that the Tigerkin are part of here?"

"Order of the Divine Guardians, miss," Cecil promptly answered and added some context, "the Divine Guardians have been on Seoul since the Age of Darkness, and are among the oldest Force Orders within the Commonwealth. The Divine Guardians believe in a harmonious balance in both physical and spirtual well-being. They see themselves as guardians of our physical realm and what they consider to be the next realm, the ethereal realm. They uphold meditation and self-discipline as keys to maintain this balance."

"Thank you, Cecil," replied Ivalyn graciously as the speeder moved into its parking space.

"Miss, Tav and I shall remain close to the speeder. You need only to call, and we shall arrive to take you wherever you wish to go next," Cecil informed her.

Cecil by that point had opened the door for her and the Master Jedi. As she stepped out, stretched her legs she replied, "of course, thank you Cecil." Her attention went to Tav, "do behave yourself, don't give Cecil a hard time." She turned toward Master Noble. "Right this way, we'll head down to ground level and make our way to the Artisan area, and please feel free to ask me anything about anything. Either history, culture of the area, or whatever you wish to know about me."

At street level the industrial district seemed to loom around them. Delivery vehicles, civilian traffic, and pedestrian traffic seemed to all come together. Plumes of smoke from manufacturing plants beyond their view, mixed with smoke from various street vendors who cooked an array of delicious cuisines. Soups, barbeques, seafood, fried foods, pastries and confectionaries of all sorts. Local retailers with their own goods also lined the streets, with retail shops and food shops right behind them. Namyang's recovery was among the many of whose comeback after the Ssi-Ruuvi's invasion has been considered miraculous.

"You'll find mostly indigenous works here, there may be one or two Dosuunian, or even Mephoutian merchant or vendor. Not much beyond that," and then a small pause as they followed the signs that directed them to Euljiro. "Sejong like many cities within the home sector will have many Chiss, and Echani peoples. Most of whom no longer follow their own cultures, strictly, but have assimilated into life here in the Commonwealth."

The sounds of hammers and machines could be heard as they got closer. The signs that directed them were in a variety of languages, from Basic, to Dosuunian, Seoularian, Mephoutian, Needani, Keshiri, Cheunh, and Eshani. From tall buildings and skyscrapers to smaller stores and tents all run together, tied with simple ropes and cords. "Welcome to Euljiro," a venerable city of aforementioned tents and what seemed to be microshops and food stalls. Bright flourescent lights and antiquated fans added to the area's ambiance. Ivalyn led the Master Jedi into the artsians' enclave where people began to speak to them about their goods and wares. "Some of my favorite journals are made here, we'll just have to squeeze through."

"If you'd like we can stop for a snack or two, there's plenty of delicious foods to try, in fact I think we've got a hotteok vendor up this way."

"That's very generous and kind of you," Valery said with a warm smile, after Ivalyn offered to cover her expenses. It did make Valery a little less likely to just pick anything though — she had never liked accepting gifts, especially not from people she didn't know too well. The thought of Ivalyn spending too much money on her wasn't one that sat well with her. But, that was a bridge they could cross later.

For now, she just listened and looked around as they wandered around.

Along the way, Ivalyn explained a little more about the people they saw, the cultures and the city — it was an entirely different side of the Galaxy Valery had never learned about. Some people could spend a lifetime learning about just one planet, so she knew it to be impossible to learn everything, but she was eager to get a good impression about Sejong and the Commonwealth as a whole. Perhaps it could be a place to visit more frequently.

Especially if the food and shopping here was any good, though that seemed to be the case.

"Well, could you tell me more about what keeps you busy day to day? How you got where you are now?" Valery decided to ask when Ivalyn gave her the room to ask whatever she wanted to learn. There were a million questions floating in her mind, so she decided to ask something more personal to her host.

"I'd also love to try some food before we get to the shops. It's an important part of any culture after all, hm?" She smirked, and turned her fiery gaze forward, excited to see what they had in store for her here.

"You're my guest, think nothing of it," said Ivalyn of covering for the Jedi Master's purchases. Balance knew that the heiress wasn't bothered by the offer although she understood that for some it was a matter of pride, or not coming across as taking advantage of someone. There was always that line of being polite and having manners. Still, with what Ivalyn had to present to the Master, this will seem like nothing. Nonetheless, Ivalyn hoped that the Jedi Master would come to love the Commonwealth's memberworlds, and perhaps when her time as the Sword of the Jedi was over she could retire here.

After all, many here didn't bat so much as an eyelash at her presence, thus far anyway.

"Food it is, right this way," the hotteok vendor one of many throughout the alley wasn't too far away, "these are amazing, and yes I couldn't agree more. The best way to get to know a culture is through their food, if only I had the time to take you to Baralou and Mephout, you want to talk about some delicious food?" She gave a smile, "this is amazing of course, but each one has just a little something different to offer."

The walked past those working with machines, fabricators to create armor, droid, speeder bikes or parts for them, molds for other artisan crafts. They approached the stall just as Ivalyn formed a response to the Jedi Master's question about what she did to keep busy. "I work with charitable foundations, mostly here in the Commonwealth but from time to time I'll work with those in the Outer Rim, or somewhere like Naboo." The two now right by the vendor, Ivalyn ordered an assortment of the hotteok cakes, "I also maintain a diverse investment portfolio, including my family's company, then of course I maintain my own real estate holdings, from time to time I'll go through various art and collectibles, artifacts but not that often."

"I do prefer investing in tech start ups, so I've created a foundation here in the Commonwealth to do that," she took a bite of a hotteok, "delicious and amazing as always." She sidestepped back to the stall to order a cup of caf and tea, and continued on. "Most of that though," Ivalyn accepted caf for herself and handed the black tea to Val, "works mostly on its own, which is good, these days I'm mostly making arrangements for family and caring for my nephew, Iskendyr. Beautiful boy, his mother, my sister is quite ill so my mother's been taking care of her."

"That tea I think rivals even some of Dosuun's best black teas, but I wouldn't say that on Dosuun," she mentioned with a smile, nursing her cup of caf whilst finishing off her hotteok cake. "Sorry, that was an exceptionally long answer to, I do a variety of things to maintain and grow, some of the wealth that I've inherited."

"What about you? I imagine there's quite a lot of questions about being the Sword of the Jedi, so what do you do for yourself?"

Valery chuckled and nodded in agreement, "Food and music for me," she said. A meal said a lot about the people who prepared it, but so did the music they listened to. The way it was shaped, and the way it conveyed emotions — Valery was always curious about it, and hoped to pick up on it during her stay here, too. But first, they were going to try out a proper meal, and as they approached the vendor, Valery already began to notice the smell.

It made her stomach growl just a little.

"It already smells amazing," Valery said, while she did her best not to have her mouth water. Luckily, Ivalyn kept her focused on the conversation, and explained a little more about what she got up to in her daily life, "A businesswoman who helps out with charities and takes care of family? That's very respectable," Valery said with a warm smile. Especially what she had said about helping out her nephew resonated with her.

Valery valued family above just about anything.

With the food offered, Valery began to carefully eat and didn't hide the smile that formed as she tasted it for the first time. It wasn't like anything she had before, but she loved it and showed it with that smile and dip of her head, "It is very good. And as for me... well, I'm a wife and a mother," Valery said with a chuckle. "Most of the time I spend away from being a Jedi, I try to spend with them."

"I also like cooking or singing, but those are mostly hobbies for me at home."

"Couldn't agree more," to the point of food and music being great ways of getting to know a new culture. Ivalyn finished up her hotteok cakes, and threw the small container into the rubbish bin. Around them workers continued about their business, and vendors did their best to sale their wares. The tented area, illuminated with fluorescent lights always left one feeling, cozy. Cozy, yes, that was certainly a way to describe it. "There's a great spot in the Yoonsun Market settled between the museum district and the green belt, called..." Ivalyn took a moment to recall the name, "Tae's BBQ, some of the best Seoularian barbecue in the city."

"Thank you, I certainly do what I can to help as many people as possible," Ivalyn responded with a smile as she motioned ahead, "there's plenty of great things to shop for here, oh, and don't worry about carrying all of it. I can have Cecil or Tav take it to the speeder, or sent to your hotel room." The Dosuunian walked along side the Jedi Master and listened as she spoke about being a family woman herself. "That's good, I'm glad to hear it, family is very important." It was something they both seemed to value quite highly.

Ivalyn smiled when she mentioned cooking, "I wish that I could cook, but quite honestly, all the cooking skills went to my brother. Drianos is amazing, but these days he's rather busy with the Directorate on Dosuun. We don't see him as often as we'd like, mother and I." They continued to walk a little more and Ivalyn carried on, "if you love tea, we should stop by the Hibiscus district, they have such a wide array of teas, drinks of all sorts. Oh, and," she began as she tucked loose strands of hair behind her ear, "since you do enjoy music, I can arrange for you and your family to enjoy the concerts within the Commonwealth quite easily. Just say the word."

"I know that I've said it before, but I am truly, quite pleased that you have come all this way, I'm hoping that beyond the gift that you'll likely see on our way to Dosuun. Where I can give you more details. I am hoping that this can be a positive relationship between the Commonwealth and the Galactic Alliance, mind you this isn't anything official and I am in no way acting on behalf of Her Majesty's Government. But, I am happy to faciliate."

"It's most important," Valery said with a warm smile, before briefly glancing at the others. She had never gone on a shopping trip where people would take her bags and bring them to her room before. It made her feel a little guilty, though it was somewhat exciting at the same time.

Still, Valery would never abuse hospitality for her own gains.

"Cooking is always a skill you could learn when you have the time." She didn't believe in people 'sucking' at cooking. They just hadn't taken the time to learn it yet. Though, Valery imagined that Ivalyn had plenty of people or droids around her who could help provide proper meals. Perhaps, in her case, it wasn't a necessary skill to learn.

"I'd love to try some tea. I've never been a coffee person, so it has always been tea." She chuckled and kept walking, only to stop when Ivalyn made the offer to have her family come over to attend a concert, "Really?" she asked, her voice rising in pitch a little to convey her excitement. "That'd be fantastic. My kids would love to visit and go to a concert, or perhaps a musical if you have those here."

That motherly side of Valery was definitely showing right now.

"I'm glad I'm here as well. Despite the views of many, I don't really speak on behalf of the Alliance, but I do think this is a good first step for our people. So, thank you, as well."

"I certainly agree," concurred Ivalyn, "cooking is quite an important skill, I always encourage my nephew to learn. I'm lucky if the bowl of noodles doesn't burn when I pop them into the nanowave." She added jokingly, "I'm not that terrible, but it's happened at least once while I was in Uni." A concession as she offered a warm smile to the Master Jedi. The shops around them held many goods, and wares, unique bits and bobs. Ivalyn gestured toward another food vendor not too far from where they were. "Tteokbokki, kimbap and eomuk, these are all quite popular snacks and very delicious. Tteokbokki tends to be on the spicy side, usually, but the kimbap and eomuk not so much." A suggestion of more foods to sample awaited them, "and not too far from here, I think you can scarcely make it out, Guro Square. Plenty of amazing fabrics, clothes, blankets, you name it can be found there."

The Dosuunian-born Galidraani then responded to the Master Jedi's affections for tea, "then we'll certainly make a stop by the Hibiscus district, perhaps grab a few tins for you to take home with you." A small nod of acknowledgement as the conversation continued, "think nothing of it, I am always happy to bring people and the arts together. I'll make note to have arrangements made." The Royal Hall was probably one of Ivalyn's favorite places on Dosuun so she hoped it would be theirs too. It was endearing to see the maternal side of the Master Jedi, a reminder that beneath the vaneer of strength lay the softer sentiments. Although, Ivalyn was sure the Master Jedi, like her own mother was quite protective of her children. A trait that was more or less universal throughout the galaxy. "Indeed, it is quite encouraging and I hope after our visit here, and on Dosuun," she paused as they stepped in front of the vendor and made the orders, "especially once the gift is recieved, you'll consider the Commonwealth as friends. We may be small, but we are mighty."

"Right, well, I'm at least going to tell you what it is that is being given. You can pretend to be surprised when we get there," began Ivalyn as the food was handed over and she handed over the payment to the vendor. As she stepped to the side to let others order she continued, "a long time ago, my grandmother, Fiolette Yvarro had begun plans for a starship. The ship was intended to be placed with the Outer Rim Coalition, if this gives you any idea of how long ago these plans were in place."

Walking and talking, Ivalyn walked with Valery toward Guro Square, "when they faded away, it was to be for the Outer Planets Alliance, but alas neither they nor she would truly live to see another day. The project faltered, seemingly done for," she went on, after a few more bites, "and then my mother, when she began in earnest with the Rimward Trade League revitalized the plans." A sigh as she finished off her share, and then gestured toward a machine. "We can grab some cold tea here, bori-cha is my particular go-to it's a light barely tea," she described and further elaborated on her story. "But her interest in the RTL faded, and so she told my cousin Ethanael Halscott to find a suitable home for it."

"Your Galactic Alliance being the suitable home," she took a moment and looked through the machine, "we also have water, Oksusu-cha a type of corn tea, and then here." Ivalyn pointed, "is the oksusu-suyeom-cha, which is corn silk tea, and then there's Sujeonggwa which is less of a tea and more of a punch, but it's really delicious it's made from cinnamon and ginger."

In regards to the gift, "this ship, the Norra Wexley, is roughly, 5,000 meters in length. It is and was my grandmother's final project the last design she participated in herself." Ivalyn tapped her card to the machine purchasing Valery's drink of choice on her behalf. "Perhaps, as a way to atone for her many crimes, I'm not quite sure. She was a rather eccentric person at times, if not brilliant on the battlefield, I suppose." She then struggled to open her bottle of tea, for a bit.

"Ethanael from what I understand is conducting the final inspections for the Wexley now, it's sitting within the Dosuun system. Once the final cleareance is given, then I shall take you to Dosuun so we can oversee the paperwork of it being signed over to you. There's supposed to be more than this, but," Ivalyn finally opened her bottle of tea, "bloody hells, anyway, I haven't been told more than that. I haven't a clue what all Aerys has gotten up to before simply departing the Commonwealth for greener pastures."
