Midvinter Event Planning

Okay, so here's what I've got so far in terms of how the story will unfold. Subject to change, of course!

• The sky goes dark all of a sudden as gateways open up all over Midvinter, one in each of the provinces with the exception of Averlorn. The ice giants (we'll come up with a name for them) start appearing and attack smaller settlements, etc.
• The High King and his Wardens summon their bannermen in the defense of their respective jarldoms. Hence there will initially be five fronts open for anyone to join and RP. Obviously Thurion will be in the Westmark and Thyrian in the Crownlands, but the other three I will leave open for those participating to make up as they go.
• Finally the gods arrive on Midvinter, helping the mortals drive back the invaders and closing the gateways, only for an even bigger gateway to appear just outside Averlorn.
• The goal of the ice giants is to harness the power of the Force via the Frostvatn, trying to finally gain the upper hand against the gods, as they have been waging endless war with the gods in the Eternal Ream (Beornskald) without either side ever claiming victory.
• The remainder of the Valkyri army, along with the Dawnguard as well as the gods, join the Aelvar in defense of the Frostvatn for one massive final battle.
• A small group will join the Dawnbringer in attempting to dispel the neverending darkness, which will serve to weaken the ice giants enough for us to beat them back for good and collapse the portal.
• The gods all go back to Beornskald, taking with them the souls of all those who fell in battle.

Those are all the steps I've got so far. Nothing too out-there, and I've been thinking about leaving having our characters entering the Eternal Realm for another event. I think there will be just too much to cover all in one go.

That looks very good and the steps enough for a long thread. As it stands it will be an epic length so I agree with you to keep our characters enter the godly realm for another time. We would need a Bifrost to get them there rather than go through the Gateway of the Dead. We would need something a little magical to get them up there, and so they could return as well.

I was thinking, should we start this thread with the Gods on opening post? Maybe The Dawnbringer? And Velkar could respond before the gates open up all over Midvinter?

Yes, I was thinking the same. Have Thrand make a case for him to be sent to Midvinter in hopes of preparing them for what is to come.

I think it might be time to start this thread, we have waited long enough. If people are still away, they can jump into the thread later there will be still room for that in the story.

Also I noticed that Val and her Jake are on Midvinter at the moment too. Maybe they might like to join in?

Just so you know it is basically Velkie's warning to Midvinter that something is coming ...

As for the portals? I shall leave that one up to you.

I shall post with Theo tonight, and drop in it that the green swirling lights are the God.

I had an idea that I wanted to run by you for the thread.

Now we will have the giants come to wreck the place but I was thinking it might be fun to have a mastermind behind it all. In this person below.

She could have any name really, but be some disgruntled demi god that was revenge for something Odiir did to her. No relation like Hela to Odin but ... maybe a daughter of someone he fought and killed.

I was thinking maybe make her Odiir's sister? That he banished her long ago without anyone knowing she even exists, and she's been stuck claiming the souls of those who did not die with honour, so basically all who commit suicide, are murdered, or somehow defiled after death. So the enemy we'll be facing are the souls of those not permitted to enter Beornskald and have been twisted by her, hence their constant war on the gods.

Love both of them and interesting how Hel(a) is wearing Loki's colours. But than again she is actually Loki's daughter.
Marvel so screwed the Mythology.

Would it not be murderers rather than those murdered? But I love the idea of this, very much. So we could have the PCs that is the Jedi types be able to fight against the horde, but it would take the Gods to bring down the Hela one.

It could be murderer's, but I kinda like the idea of Odiir not having any problem taking on murderers, yet deems the murderered unworthy because they were unable to defend themselves. Makes him less of a good guy and way more controversial.

But either way is fine with me. ^_^

And no, haven't come up with a name for her or her army yet. I shall have to give it a think-over.

Oh that is the angle you are thinking, that is actually a good idea. Show that Odiir is like any other God of Mythology has he's good side and bad. And when they are bad they are very bad.

In Marvel at least, he is not a very good father or father figure. Not to Loki at least.

I am looking for a good name for the Dead realm of Grima for Velkar's current thread. I had a look at the link to Viking of Bjornstad that you gave me and found a name that might work.

So I come up with: Liflátinheim

Would you be happy with that name?
