First Reply Milk run in the big city

Location: Denon

Pretty much open to anything except having to go toe to toe in combat with a much high level character

The young teenager zipped through the space lanes in her small starfighter and began to descend into the planet's atmosphere. She was excited, Tasia had never had much time for her interest in a more urban life, so when this milk run to Denon, an ecumonopolis only a few thousand light years from Naboo space came up, the girl had jumped at the chance. Her two seater N-1 flashed alongside a large passenger cruisers and zipped between a pair of skyscrapers before she slowed down and joined the managed traffic lanes along with the thousands of local speeders. Yaz popped open the canopy of her fighter to allow the sounds and scents of this crazy place in. The most built up place she had ever been was Theed and this place was another world both figuratively and literally.

"Hey, this is Little Dove, I'm about twelve clicks north of you, be there soon, is she ready to go?" the senator's daughter had absconded from Naboo with a young man, they had done whatever older teens do then he had vanished. Escilla needed returning to Naboo discreetly, and it was thought that someone closer to her age might be a good pick for the run.

"This is concierge services, you are four hours early, did you forget to syncronise with Denon time?"

Shit "Erm... pretend that I did forget, hypothetically, Is she ready?"

"No, she's not, please return at your allocated time."

The comm went dead and Yasima rolled her eyes pulling out of traffic and looking for something to kill some time. A few kilometres away she could see what looked like a shopping complex so she made towards that and landed in its speeder park. She grinned to herself and thanked the force for this oppurtunity to explore without guilt and more importantly without supervision. She climbed out, removed off her flight suit to reveal her signature white ruffled top and trousers combo (see her bio) and went for a walk. She quickly popped back to her ship almost forgetting to take her lightsaber with her.

If there was one thing Cori loved almost as much as the ocean, it was shopping. Her sharp teeth were on full display as she grinned, holding up a shimmering sea green cocktail dress to her body, then switching it out for a deep blue version. Both dresses were specially adapted to be worn both in the water and out, which made them particularly appealing to the Ersansyr.

"Which one do you recommend?" She asked the Patrolian salesman, who hummed thoughtfully.

"I believe that the green suits you best, Miss Eldoris," he smiled. "It brings out your lovely eyes."

"Well, I think I'll still take both," Cori grinned, handing the credits. "A good friend of mine looks good in deep blue. Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze will love it."

Walking out of the boutique with dresses in hand, Cori took a moment to appreciate this brief moment of relaxation. She had been so terribly busy with her duties lately as a Jedi knight and seer, that she had completely neglected to spend some of the money her father had given to her on her birthday a few months ago.

But now, after being sent by the council to Denon to help oversee the signing of an important political treaty, Cori found herself with a small window of time before she was expected to return to indulge in some shopping, which was by far her favourite thing about city worlds. Perhaps the mermaid may have been a touch materialistic, but there were worse vices for a Jedi to have.

Speaking of other Jedi, Cori caught sight of a young force user she was sure she had seen before on one of her missions to Naboo. Yes, that curious girl and her master had helped her track down a dangerous Gungun criminal and put him to justice. Cori's smile grew wider as she waved her over.

"Hi! I don't suppose you remember me? We ran a mission together a year or two ago," she greeted, walking towards the girl. "I'm Cori Eldoris, in case you forgot. And your name is Yasima, right? It's good to see you again."

Cori gestured to the clothes in her arms. "I have some free time which I've chosen to spend shopping. You're welcome to join me, if you're not currently on a mission."

Yasima continued walking when she heard an voice that seemed to recognise her. The teenager kicked herself that she didn't recognise her, but she would have been what, eleven, and mostly just concentrating on not screwing up at the time. "Oh! Hi Cori! it's good to see you. How have you been?" she answered, pretending she remembered and giving her friendliest smile.

The girl scratched her neck as she spoke, she was technically on a mission, but she had got her times mixed up so the force had given her this free time. The older woman was inviting her shopping? This caused Yaz's smile to broaden and she nodded. She loved to shop, she loved clothes, she didn't really have much money of her own, the peril of growing up in a rural barter culture, but had a small allowance and money she had made from selling things to the less personally capable urbanite nabooians.

"Yeah, sure. I'd love to come shopping. You look like you've started already? Get anything good?" she gestured at the bags already at her side with her eyes dancing about to try and snoop. She would follow the more experienced woman to the best places

"Oh! Hi Cori! it's good to see you. How have you been?" she answered, pretending she remembered and giving her friendliest smile.

"I've been well! Terribly busy of late, but that's just the nature of being a Jedi knight," Cori returned her smile. "But you're still a padawan, aren't you? Must be nice to get a little time away from your master for a bit. I know I loved my master, but even his constant presence could be somewhat...stifling at times."

"Oh, yes!" Cori beamed, moving her bags over so Yasima could see them easier. "I've brought these two dresses from that wonderful boutique over there, I would highly recommend it. It's so hard to find sellers who cater to the needs of aquatic species when designing their clothes! Anyway, this gorgeous green number is for me, and the blue one is for a friend."

"But we certainly don't have to shop for clothes if they don't interest you!" Cori quickly added, fearing she was unintentionally railroading the padawan into visiting places only she was interested in. "There are more combat focused stores if you prefer, music shops, and plenty of food stalls scattered around too."

"But if you are interested in clothes shopping," Cori leaned in almost conspiratorially, "I'll happy help you buy whatever you like. Far too few Jedi are interested in high fashion and I really am growing tired of always being the best dressed in the temple." She finishes with a playful wink.

She nodded. "Technically I only just became a padawan. Tay got knighted recently and she dragged me into the order too, when we met I was just a learner. But I think it's the same." she giggled and looked a bit closer at the dresses, they looked very pretty. She had some lovely dresses at home for special occasions, nothing as grand as the elaborate dresses nabooian nobles wore, but they made her look pretty and gown up.

"Hmm... I hadn't really planned anything. A music store sounds good, I've heard this planet has a good scene, what are you into?" there was ten years between the pair so possibly a gulf in musical tastes, but perhaps not. "So music, some clothes maybe a bite to eat, then I better head on my mission." a doorway swished open as they walked and they were surrounded by the internal sounds of the shopping centre. There was a music store nearby and she wore people about her age wearing the wildest outfits listening to music on large headphones. An older man pushed past her through the door and barrelled onwards clutching a bag like it had his most pized possessions in it.

This place was crazy, more people than she had imagined even loved in Theed crammed into a single shopping centre.

hiccup!

A strange noise emanated from the girl as the walked and her heart began to quicken with the mass of people about.

"Oh, Tay and I are not so different then! I was knighted very recently too," Cori responded. "At least, it feels recent to me. It's hard to believe it's almost been three years since I passed the trials," a nostalgic expression flitted across her face before she shook it off. "Anyway! Shopping!"

"Oh, I love all music," Cori grinned, her words genuine. "I'll listen to anything, really. Music reminds me of home, where we communicate almost entirely through song. Now that I'm here, I've realised that there is just as much emotion to be found surface artist's work, from the most hardcore coruscant club music to the gentlest, softest Bardottan hymns."

Cori nodded along as the padawan laid out a plan. "That sounds wonderful. There is a fantastic sushi place I went to yesterday where we can have lunch. Wait, did you say you have a mission?"

Cori paused, her lips pursing together in a worried frown. "How much time do you have? I'd hate to get you in trouble."

"Oh dear, you have that odd breathing affliction!" Cori smiled sympathetically in response to the strange sound. "Something starting with an H, I think. Hirrups? Huccups? You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I don't ever get them. Perks of being an Ersansyr," she pointed to her gills, "But I've heard that water helps! Would you like us to get a drink first before we continue?"

She raised an eyebrow and gave a look that challenged the woman "we'll see" she thought, Yasima liked to think she was pretry out there with her music tastes, trying to stay as up to date as she could.

How embarrassing, getting hiccups in front of this cool seemingly older jedi. Her master would probably tell her to calm down, but Tasia would probably be even more uncomfortable in this hyperurbanised environment.

"I'm ok, they come sometimes, it should go soon." she practically squeeked as she hiccuped on the last word. "Yeah, a drink would be good, I saw this place doing cold tea with jelly balls in the bottom or something. We should get that." it was Yasima's turn to lead the way to the little stand with the a picture of a mandalorian and the words Boba's Boba above it, with the T highlighted on the man's helmet. Must be a reference to something.

"Yeah, its not a proper mission, just giving some dignitary an escort back to Naboo. But then I'm not a proper Jedi am I?" she laughed and hiccuped again. It was not meant to be a self deprecating comment, just the way she saw the world she inhabited.

She ordered a lime and mint boba and put the straw to her mouth as soon as she had paid, at least if she was drinking it would stop the silly npises coming out and it should hopefully cure her. "You said you are an eransire? I've not heard of your species before. Are you from this planet?" probably not, gills indicated aquatic and she didnt see any seas on the flight down from orbit.

Cori just smiled back, excited at the prospect of the teenager showing her something new.

"That sounds lovely!" Cori agreed, following closely behind and placing an order for a peach and mango boba. She made sure to request the star shaped rainbow jellies to accompany it, not because she particularly fancied them, but because she was unable to resist how adorable they were. After paying, she gave her drink a playful swirl. "Aww, they look just like little starfish! So cute!"

"Yeah, its not a proper mission, just giving some dignitary an escort back to Naboo. But then I'm not a proper Jedi am I?" she laughed and hiccuped again. It was not meant to be a self deprecating comment, just the way she saw the world she inhabited.

Cori gave the padawan a sympathetic smile as she sipped on her drink. "Maybe not yet, but you will be, soon. I remember what it was like being a padawan, tied down to a master who I thought was stuffy and old fashioned. But you'll miss them one day," she took a long sip of her drink, humming thoughtfully, "But your master must trust you a great deal, letting you work this mission alone. Don't be too fast to write it off, either. For a Jedi, no assignment is too small or too unimportant. You never know what might happen, unless you can see the future, of course!"

The Jedi knight gave a half hearted laugh at that, but something in her tone betrayed a sense of bitterness associated with that particular power.

"You said you are an eransire? I've not heard of your species before. Are you from this planet?" probably not, gills indicated aquatic and she didnt see any seas on the flight down from orbit.

"Oh, yes! I'm an ersansyr. Some people call us songbirds," Cori grinned, unintentionally showing off her sharp teeth. "You've probably not heard of us...because, well..." Her mind flashed to the Sith origins of her species and she fought the urge to wince, "Because we're terribly isolated. Most of us live on Aquilaris Minor or Yavin 8. Water planets, you understand."

She took another long, thoughtful sip of her tea. "Your home planet Naboo has some beautiful oceans, but nothing quite beats the coral reefs of my beloved Aquilaris."
