Private Mindscape

In Umbris Potestas Est
Lossa Aureus Lossa Aureus

The small splinter of Onrai, the only extant piece of the ethereal entity that had been broken off from her main essence, continued to lurk within the mindscape of the wayward Jedi knight. It was extant within the mindscape, along with the revelations Onrai herself had sought to imbue, an attempt to make it plain to Lossa that there were much bigger concerns to worry about in the galaxy than the petty conflict between what everyone viewed as light and dark. For now, she continued to lurk, a presence to interact with the woman's consciousness when it was idle. The fragment had, in truth, done very little since the Alliance victory at Coruscant - merely petty discussions, nothing particularly deep. But the knowledge and memories yet remained.

And soon enough, it would be time for her to explain, in depth, just what Lossa had dealt with.

She slumbered until that little fragment of herself that had held onto vitriol as a bulwark finally released her from the protective veil. A strange feeling for her mind to swim within a familiar place while still feeling, empty.

Her adolescent self taking a backseat and partially melding with her consciousness as memories in her mind remained behind a protective blur. Memories of her own, memories that she had run from for so long they had the stain of red edges like a broken mirror. As though even brushing a hand along the edge of them would leave behind a gaping wound. She ignored those memories, fixating her attentions on the strangely familiar presence that made her other half simmer and scowl. Ruby eyes cast upon the being as the waves began to form, lapping at her bare feet and taking her back to that sandy beach besides her property on Naboo.

Allowing herself to look around as the building came into view. The small garden behind the main building coming into view and bringing her calm at even the idea of being there.

The fragment of Onrai’s presence, sharded as it was, stood on the beach. Shadowed essence melded into nigh-mimicry of the humanoid form as obsidian toes tasted the lapping of the false water, the soft touch of the imaginary sand of the beach upon her soles. For once, the fragment manifested itself as though it were merely midnight-skinned yet mortal, with hair and features yet much like the Vian form depicted to Lossa during her initial meeting with the woman. A simple swimsuit, identical in color to her simulated flesh, adorned the shade, whose lips opened to reveal pearl-white teeth, milky white eyes turning to observe Lossa’s arrival in her own mindscape.

“Welcome back.” Onrai said softly, a smile on her face. The conversations she had been able to have before this were benign, simple things. An opportunity for the fragment of the greater spirit to understand more about the being she was embedded within. The discussions had slowly but surely grown heavier - more mature, more formative about the pains, losses, and mistakes of Lossa’s life. Onrai believed that now, above all other times, would possibly be the best opportunity for her to speak to the woman’s subconscious and enlighten her as to the horrors that lurked on the boundaries of the fabric of the galaxy. The maligna that was the harsher portion of Lossa, depleted as it was, seemed to have been mollified as much as it could yet be.

“I think it’s time we talked about it. The memories, the knowledge I provided you.” Upon the sandscape. A dejarik board yet formed, the pillar holding it yet made manifest of the false sand as chairs were yet raised from the beachscape itself. Prior to taking a seat herself, Onrai motioned to the Jedi, offering her the seat across from where the false goddess would herself sit as she prepared for such illumination.

The soft expression shifted slightly at the familiar voice.

The smile not nearly as full as it had been. Her eyes, wide at first observing the scene around her narrowed as she turned until she spotted the speaker. Raven locks pushed away from her face as she took in the sight. Measuring her reply as she felt the waves lap against her legs.

"I'd say welcome, but I don't think we'll be parting ways for a while, huh?" She had been semi-aware of the beings presence for a while now, and her other half was still scowling. Hanging over Lossa's shoulder near completely translucent but present no less. A frown forming as the topic of those memories was brought up. The thing that had spurned the protective measures of her subconscious mind.

Watching the dejarik board form before taking a seat as advised, crossing her legs and settling in and resting her cheek against her hand.

"So long as you aren't planting more of those memories I think we can talk about it yeah." Idly toying with a piece on the board.

The shard of Onrai took a seat across from Lossa within the mindscape in question; waves lapping at both their feet as they remained seated. Figures began to manifest on the rims of the board, game pieces that seemed very different from the usual dejarik board’s pieces and parcels. A crimson-scaled, half-serpentine woman wielding a two handed polearm with a blade on its end was yet visible, the first piece that Onrai snared and placed on the game field.

“Have you ever wondered where your species came from?” She asked, looking down at the game board, observing the reptilian movements of the unusual creature. It resembled the living form of the abomination whose visage had been pressed into Lossa’s mind all that time ago. That had been a pastiche, a lich’s attempt to modify the remains of her festering flesh into a more familiar form, but this simulacra was different. Next to its form coalesced a maleficent construct, a being wrapped in a yellow robe with a grotesque mask. Onrai personally picked this being up and gave it a shake, to which it looked up at her, a hand raised to remove its mask in question, only for Onrai to give it a finger to not do so.

“The Immortal Gods of the Sith took the most beautiful of that species as their consorts. They polluted them. Defiled them and produced malevolent spawn that became known as the Witch-Queens. Their Ssither servants likewise mingled with Sith priestesses, creating a race of malevolent beings known as the Lamiae. Joyous depravity in all things was the purpose of their kind, and so it was that when the Witch-Queens and the Lamiae fought, the latter were driven away, guided by the spirits of those who they had slain to another world.”

Another piece, a crone, siphoning the life force of another being who was yet turned into a beautiful yet vindictive woman once again. “In time their serpentine traits were bred out courtesy of the merchant fleets they had seduced through their glamours to the now-ruined world of Seidhkona, a place as epicurean and hedonistic then as Zeltros was now. Their empathic abilities flourished, and when their populations grew too great, so it was that the younger generations of their kind were sent off to a world they called Zeltros - a combination of Zelt, an ancient word for camp, and Otros, a world meaning ‘other.’” She motioned to the game board, such a Zeltronian simulacra having yet appeared on the other side of the dejarik board.

“You are a Jedi, regardless of what you may yet be insofar as galactic species go - what do you know of the Sith? The ancients, not the revival of the revival of the cult that exists today.” Onrai’s eyes looked at Lossa, seeking to observe precisely what it was that the woman knew. The memories that had been imprinted within her mind were there, but whether she looked at them or otherwise accepted their importance was something else entirely.

The board seemed to fill itself with pieces. All foreign to her as a brow sharply rose at the sight of each one. Eyes scanning each piece and assuming their placement was proper as Onrai made the first move on the board. At best, she had a passing knowledge of how to play anymore.

The board and pieces part of the past for her that was more distraction than learning how to play. Fond memories now that she could hold them through a different lense.

The question of her species origin giving her pause as she moved her own piece in response.

"Hadn't really given it much thought. But, enlighten me." The question didn't seem much more than a transition to the sharing of knowledge, and for the time being she was all ears. Listening as the woman explained the process and events in what was likely a very watered down telling that had led to the creation of her pink skinned kin.

The explanation seemed a familiar one in some way. The distant past and current times never seeming to stray far from the whims of those who could and did meddle with other beings for their own amusement.

It was irritating in some way to know that not much had changed in so long a time.

"Still processing honestly. So, it... Hmm. Beings that fed upon the dark energy of the Force and wove it like any other elder being rather than... forced it into shape? Simple, yet complex in their own right. Molding themselves to better suit the need of their people before the arrival of jedi exiles that stole their name and purpose. That twisted their ways and erased their identity." Her eyes narrowing and widening as she tried to process through what had been shared. Calmer now as her mind tried to drift through the multitude of images and second hand memories.

"The Immortal Gods of the Sith are beings best identifiable as fallen Celestials." Onrai said. "Perverse creatures who turned against their Maker and dedicated their eternal existences to polluting the creations the indifferent one left in the world." Once more Onrai grasped the form of the yellow-robed being, moving him as her next play. "Fallen Celestials with their own servants, who desire to free them from the prison they've yet been trapped in. I do what I can to fight back against their agents in this world with the power of the dimension they have sought to usurp - the domain of Illathurion, what you know as Otherspace." The dejarik board's surface transposed into a screen of sorts, showcasing the fluidic nature of space in question.

"One of these days, the Jedi will be forced to confront them. Even the Sith couldn't hope to survive against them as they stand, Solipsis or otherwise. Only those who are willing to use the power I have to offer them will be able to fight back effectively against such a cursed, blighted foe." She sighed. "And maybe it might be useful in other things."
