Mini Stray Cat Rock

Orihime was out here in open space, they were friends of her mother and had one of the machine shops she could use to make a special lens for the saber she was constructing. The rubet crystal and the kunda stone were going to be pressed to be a synthetic lens usable in her saber. She wanted something better able to channel energy through for the increased output but also make it sharper and more fine an edge. It would allow for getting into armor more easily. The shop had a few of the artisen's in there while they were working with the materials to make equipment for the company that had gotten a nice influx of credits with some of their equipment and deals.

Another day, another Jedi on some damn fool idealistic crusade.

With the Sith spreading across the cosmos like a sexually-transmitted disease, it was a bad idea to send a padawan out into space alone. As such, the specter of a dark skinned, afro headed youngling accompanied the Silver Jedi apprentice. His small stature was unassuming, with what appeared to be a courier bag slung across his back masking the presence of the boy-droid's E-11 blaster rifle.

He didn't know what this was all about, but with cybernetic ocular processors and finely-tuned servoprocessors for surgical precision in hand movements, he might even be useful depending on what kind of fine detail work would be needed.

Of course, he was a droid, not an artist. While he had a lot of personality and autonomy, creativity was not entirely within his programming.

Orihime looked at the ranger who had come with her and she had to admit as he stood there... He was pretty cool like the guards when they had went to the palace with her mother. She was inputting the numbers in from her datapad on her wrist to the computer to machine and press the lens. With the exact measurements from the materials the Joshu could create with what was being put into it. Orihime dug in her utility belt while she moved over by him and the timer counted down for the time being. "Candy." Not knowing he was a droid and trying to be friendly.... I mean who didn't like candy it was like the universal icebreaker next to 'Hey did you see that?'

The offer of candy triggered a series of responses.

Cascading through the droid's processors, in no particular order, the medical droid wondered if the padawan was aware of the negative health effects of sugar. Additionally, was she seeing a dentist? Aware of the possible degenerative impact to tooth enamel? Blood glucose levels and possible scarring of the arterial lining?

Behavioral and social algorithms then performed an analysis of possible responses, with the entire process taking less than a second. Smiling up at the taller woman, the synthetic muscles of the face were contracted so that the droid appeared to smile as he answered politely, "No, thank you."

Looking around at the items and data that the young woman had been inspecting, the droid inquired, "Is there anything that I could assist you with?"

"Well alright more for me." She took another bite of the candied peanut and looked at the machine "And yes there is something you can help with, the machine is pressing and constructing a lens that can channel large amounts of energy. Then set it into a sharper and smaller beam. In a lightsaber is should increase the cutting power, in a blaster like the one I mother created it should make a more penetrating force shot." She slid the force blaster off her belt and presented it. "It is made so only a follower of the lightside and uses the force you can channel through a living being to create ammo."

A device to channel the Force into a blaster?

As a droid, the machine didn't entirely understand the Force. He understood the science and physics that had been applied in order to try and rationalize or explain it, such as midi-chlorians, but the Force remained something which defied being neatly categorized, quantified, or described in any tangible way. In theory, however, he could see how such a device would present some advantages.

"Doesn't the Force require some level of concentration to use?" the automaton inquired, looking from the weapon to the woman. "Would a device of that nature be operable in the chaos of actual combat?"

A pause, as the droid's processor calculated a different line of inquiry. "And what about when the Force is inaccessible?" The Antarian Rangers had research and intelligence suggesting different methods being employed or used by bounty hunters in pursuit of Jedi or Sith targets. Which was useful to know, in case the Rangers had to come to the defense of the Jedi or battle a Sith. "The spread of the One Sith and the threat of the Primeval has sparked a great deal of research in Force nullification techniques."

Orihime looked at him and it was a good question as she slid her hand over the barrel and focused on it. The loose hair blowing with a little force energy before the gun itself glowed with golden light. "Well it can be charged and hold the energy you can fire out. There is also the ability to use underbarrel equipment like the mini flamethrowers created by Armatech for the rangers or the paddle beamer technology my mother made. That can bypass a lightsaber blade." There were the other questions as she was looking at the machine and it had the lens almost ready.... plus a second and back ups that will be ready afterwards. "However without use of the force the weapon can't be charged and is just kind of a club."

Admiring the charged weapon for a moment, the boy passed the object back to the artisan padawan.

"A fascinating application," the droid noted appreciatively. And, indeed it was. A most curious use of the Force comparatively. It reflected a kind of variance in thought. A spark of creativity that suggested that the Force could be used in ways that hadn't yet been thought of. Always a refreshing thing to consider or be presented with. It meant that as much as the Jedi knew, there was always something new to learn or be done.

Of course, being a weapon that was meant for living beings, the automaton glanced back up as he admitted, "...I think I'll stick with blasters."

Yes was looking at him and nodded her head to it while moving towards the lenses that had been crafted. A couple for use and backups as she was picking them up and brought one over to the small testing they had set up. She was working on it and set it in place while checking the lense itself for extended use. A quad chamber system for sending it through the energy had her watching as the blade was created with a testing saber that gleamed brighter and was smaller. ALmost an edge of it pulsing with energy as the silver synthetic crystal they had created long ago. "It works, now we'll just need to work on some paper work, my mother will want to know what was done and used."

The small droid moved to look over one of the lenses.

Even with ocular zooming and close enhancement of the surface area, used by the surgical droid for identifying and focusing on small objects, such as blood vessels, the ranger could not identify any imperfections in the manufacture. "Master Ike will be proud," the droid offered, as his social engineering again offered something to say. The craftsmanship was beyond that which the droid would have expected from human artisans.

Then again, humans were the ones who made droids. So they had to produce something exception, now and again.
